We want to sync GALs in an automated method between a forest that has
Exchange 2007 and a forest that has Exchange 2003.

From my research I've found that IIFP is not fully compatible with Exchange
2007. ILM 2007 is just too expensive, we were looking for a free solution
such as IIFP. Has anyone had experience with this situation? Can we use IIFP
SP2 with Exchange 2007 SP1 and just have a script run the update-recipient
commandlet at during off hours each day?

Thank you

Using IIFP SP2 with Exchange 2007 will not be supported and E2K7 will work
perfectly with ILM07 only.

Hello,

Thank you for your post.

My name is Robbin Meng, and it is my pleasure to work with you on this
issue!

Please allow me to confirm that my understandings are correct. As I
understand it, the issue is:

You would like to sync the GAL across two different forest- a forest that
has Exchange 2007 and a forest that has Exchange 2003. Also, you would like
to know if IIFP can make the goal.

If I have misunderstood your concerns please feel free to let me know.

Actually, we don't have built-in function to share GAL between Exchange
Organizations. However, as a Microsoft recommended solution, you can use
Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS) 2003. For more information,
please refer to the link below.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversystem/miis2003/default.mspx

And since MIIS 2003 is not in our newsgroup support list, for further help,
please use the link below.

Yes you are right its a bit expensive but this is the only way to do it else
you will not get your objective 100%, there is a way to implement blind Smtp
chain domain implementation but that method will not detect any dublication
plus it will depent on the upper smtp connector / organization while
processing the email to be routed to another exchange org. and if upper link
fail entire MHS goes down! so the conclusion is you do have some methods to
control messging in diff exchange org but with pros and cons but if you want
100% proper solution then only solution ILM

Cheers
