    - Curious about macro possibility I was wondering, and probably reaching for this one, if a macro can write another macro and place it in the appropriate "Microsoft Excel Object" sheet? The project I am working on is a annual scheduling workbook that will create 26 sheets (payperiods) when a commandbutton is clicked and name each sheet accordingly. During this execution, I was wondering if I could also: 1) create 26 commandbuttons with same caption as its respective sheet, size and align each button on a sheet, 2) write the three line code for each commandbutton, using the caption (also name of sheet) as the reference to GOTO that sheet?     - Selection based on partial input Hi to all, In an Excel workbook, sheet1 has a list of the customer names : col1=idx and col2=name I need to build up a user form with one Textbox one Listbox one Button (Exit) I need to enable the user to input the beginning of a name in the textbox, and, as each new typed character comes in, I want the listbox to display (in full) all of the names on sheet1 beginning with the actual content of the textbox to be listed in the listbox. The final selection is then done by a double click on the choosen name of the listbox. How can I code that in vba ?? I would like to delete all existing charts in a worksheet and then create a histogram and then modify its properties.     - Merge Data From one Workbook to another I have two work books. One is "historical" data and the other is "update" data for records in the first. I want to program some vb to update "historical" with the "update" data. Also I would not be using all the data in the whole row. I will only be updating certain columns of a row to historical: Column A in both is the account number. The script should take each account number in "update" and match it to the account number in historical, if there is a match it should update columns B, E, M, O of historical with update. If there is no match it should add a new record and update the same columns. Also this code should be contained in historical, also I need a way to activate rows in historical to show active records, what I mean by active is only records that were updated or added should be active. In other words maybe add another column called active to historical and as the script runs it puts the word active in a column or deactive in the same column and then I could filter it to show only the active ones.     - Range Objects + Names + Error 1004 I seem to be running into the 1004 error on what I thought would be something simple. I have created 4 names one of which is "Clothing", it refers to cells B4 to B8. I want to simply place the arrData into each of the five cells. I can't get past that line setting the range object. I thought setting range objects was easy. The range is already named what is causing this error?     - Convert Time Column to Text I have a spreadsheet that contains Artist, Song and Length of Song info that was created by a music collection software. EXAMPLE CELLS 1 shows the cell's actual values and EXAMPLE CELLS 2 shows how it looks. I'm looking for a way to actually convert all of the song length values in Column C so they are text data type and look exactly like Column C values in EXAMPLE CELLS 2. So basically, Song 1 in cell C1 would be 03:50 and would mean 3 minutes and 50 seconds.     - Is the array empty? Hi I am using a macro to load an array with data from excel. This is time series data. As I loop through all the years and months, there are some months that don't exist in a specific year (eg for 2005, the data starts from April, whereas my array loops over all months). So when I look up this array in the local variables, each element of the array shows up as EMPTY. this causes a problem cos at the end of all this, I'm trying to do : worksheetfunction.average(array) and it fails when I the array is empty. Is there anyway to determine if the array is empty, cos then I can use an if statement to circumvent. I've tried using lbound, ubound, isempty etc etc...nothing seems to be working.     - Detecting a change in a cell Hi all, I'm fairly new to VBA programming. I'm using Excel 2003. I need to know when a particular cell (it's actually a single cell "range" called MYRANGE) has changed. When I detect the change, I need to see if the new numeric value in that cell is not zero; if it's non-zero then I need to activate some code. Unfortunately that cell is changed via a formula - so using Worksheet_Change is apparently not going to work. That is, Worksheet_Change doesn't get triggered for cells of this type. I tried using .OnTimer to repeatedly check the value of that cell, but I couldn't get it to work very well. It seems like there has got to be an easy way to trigger some code to activate when a cell has changed (even for a cell that changes via a formula).     - Excel Macro Help I need to process an Excel file. I want to run a macro. The macro will not know how many rows are in the file. The column A has a date time stamp for each row. Column E has the value N, L, or R. The rows will start with Ns. Than the rows will have L or Rs. The last rows will have Ns. When the rows start to have L or Rs. I need to grab the date time and when the N begin again I need the date time so I can calculate the total time and add up the number of L and Rs. One tell a statement such as "Not Available Before", "Not Available After", and "Only Available From". The other two column tell if Column D has a statement such as "Not Available before", then column E specify the time that particular employee not available before what time. Similary, with "Not Available after" column E specify the time that particular employee not available after. Similary, if column D statement says the time is out of range or "Only Availbable From", specify the start time in E column and end time in F column. If time is within range then don't do anything or display blank. Notice the names of my employees in shedule sheet are not in order with the name of my employees in the availability sheet.     - VBA Code needed to AUTOMATE VALIDATION selections and then PRINT EACH I have searched the blogs and cannot seem to locate anything related to my challenge. I know you guys are gurus when It comes to things like this. I have a worksheet that tracks employee productivity for each cost center with a region. My excel worksheet contains three validation dropdowns that use the "indirect" function with various named ranges that link these dropdowns . So for instance lets say that the first dropdown relates to a region, the second relates to a cost center (there can be many cost centers in a region), and the third is a worker in that cost center (there can be many workers in a cost center). So, lets say that I select Northwest Region =E0 10001 (Cost Center) =E0 and Jim Stu, John Doe, Bob Doe, and Jane Done can all be selected from this cost center individually which changes the productivity data for each worker. Drop Down 1 (region) --> Drop Down 2 (cost center) -> Drop Down 3 (Worker) Range1 =3D Region Range2 =3D (indirect function from cell in Range 1) Range3 =3D (indirect function from cell in Range 2) What I would like to do is automate the printing process of the workers within a selected cost center using these already defined ranges. So for example in the example above I want to print all four names dynamically if some one decides that they would like to print all of the workers in ANY cost center. I am looking for the VBA code for this endeavor. Is this feat possible without having to select each and every worker within that cost center?     - Loop and append to different worksheets I posted this previously but I have discovered a few more things about it and still need some help. I need help making this macro loop through more than one worksheet. And I need to make sure that the information appends correctly. Or I need a different Macro that will do that. I have looked at http://www.contextures.com/excelfiles.html and unfortunately the macros there did not quite do what I need. I have anywhere from one to 16 different worksheets with no duplicate information. It is all in the same format, the worksheet names will differ from month to month. What I need to do is create new worksheets based on the information from a column. Column K could have anywhere from 1 to 6 different values A, B, C, D, E, or F. I need a seperate worksheet with all the rows containing the A's, all the B's, etc. This macro works great on one worksheet. I have tried a few things to make it work on more than one but I have had no luck and I know there are a lot of people here with much more experiance than I have.     - charts source data series copying Hey all, I have a chart that is linked to a data page within an XL workbook. There is a main data page where I can have 5 or 6 column of data. There is another data page called "Map1 Data" where I can select two columns of data to compare. I then have a chart called "Map1" that gets updated "Chart_Activate" based on what columns are chosen.
