    - Copy Charts from Excel to Word I have a 'Summary' sheet that has a drop down list of names of plots (i.e. Plot 1, Plot 2, Plot 3, etc.). A corresponding tab named Plot changes based on the plot name listed in the drop down box. (i.e. if you select Plot 3 in the drop down list, Plot 3 appears on the Plot tab). There are 60 plots in the drop down list. I want to copy all 60 plots to a document in Word and size them such they are about 4" tall. Manually, I could choose plot in the drop down, click on the Plot tab and copy and paste and do this 60 times. Hopefully there is an easier way??? Thanks! Tag: Column/Cell Question Tag: 811948

    - Populating Cells In a downloaded excel report, the County name is in cell B1 with the list of cities in C5 through C how ever many. Then another County name appears a few rows after that to start another batch of cities. Question is, I need the County name to apear in the cell before the city name cell.     - Text to large for Excel cell Doing a qualitative study and need to document the interview questions - I require having a lot of text information in certain cells. At the moment I seem to be stopped at about 250 words or 2500 characters. I need it double this size at least in some cases. I have tried "autofit" columns, "autofit" rows and neither of those work.     - 2003 - 2007 I use excel 2003 worksheets that are forwarded to me by company email (Outlook), I enter new data and forward back to the sender with the changes saved as FA1-1, FA1-2 etc. He has 2003, I have 2007 and I save in the 92 - 2003 format. My problem is that the information that I enter changes when he opens it. These are spreadsheets with basic formulas to create salaries and deductions. I don't know why my changes are not there when I return the spreadsheets to the boss. The formulas and entries all digress back to original info or uses the formula in the previous column?     - Combine information from rows Good afternoon. I have an Excel 2003 spreadsheet which has several thousand rows of customer details. In many of these rows the first columns (A-M - which contain name, phone number address etc) are duplicated however the data contained in the following columns (N-CM) is different. Is there any way that I can combine the rows so that I have one for each individual customer? I found an example elsewhere on the forum that uses the Index array formula, but I am not sure how to adapt it so it would work with my spreadsheet.     - How to stop "Locked for Editing" in Excel? After opening my spreadsheet and performing work, I save my work and close my spreadsheet. But, when I try to reopen the spreadsheet, I get the message, "Locked for editing". The only way I can reopen the spreadsheet is to reboot my computer. I've tried uninstalling my Office 2003 and re-installing the program, but the problem comes back with the re-install. Any help will be much appreciated.     - Worksheet never opens My Excel 2007 spreadsheet has 900,000 rows and 8 columns. All of the cells contain data (no formulas). When I click on the file-name and click OPEN, the status of the OPEN process is displayed on the taskbar. After the green indicator goes all the way to the right of the status box, the only thing displayed on my screen is the hourglass symbol. Why isn't the spreadsheet being displayed on my screen?     - List Will Not Automatically Expand I have data in cells a1:c10 Row 1 contains column headings. I create a list, and get the blue border with an asterisk (*) in a11. I expect the list to expand if I type or paste into a11. Instead, the typed data appears with the asterisk superimposed over the data. If I move select a cell outside of the list, the newly typed data remains, but if I select a cell within the list, the asterisk appears in a11, and the new daya appears in a12, outside the border of the list.     - DATE FORMATS Back in June, I asked (under the heading "CELL FORMATTING WILL NOT WOK") how to resolve a problem I was having applying date formats in Excel 2000. A lot of people offered help, and I spent many hours applying the various solutions offered, all to no avail. The problem is that, whether in an existing file or a new file, dates entered in the form d/m/yy (or just about any other date representation) cannot be formatted as dates and therefore cannot be used in formulae. My preferred format is the Custom d/m/yy_), but I've tried many other date formats, and none of them work, whether the format is applied before or after the data are entered. I was using Vista Home Premium with Excel 2000. I have a home network, and the other 2 computers have Excel 2000 running under Windows XP. There is no problem with date formats on either of those computers, INCLUDING when I open Excel files on the Vista computer (ie, a file where the problem existed on the Vista computer) using Excel 2000 on a Win XP computer. I became convinced that there was some sort of conflict between Vista and Excel 2000, so I upgraded to Excel 2003. But the problem still exists. Don't laugh -- it is seriously bugging me, and I'm wasting a hell of a lot of time trying to fix the problem.     - CTRL+F doesn't work Hi, I have an excel spreadsheet that pulls sales order information (through MS Query) from a client's accounting system. One of the cells then concatenates two cells together to generate a unique value of the Customer Account Number & Product Number The formula used is, for example, =TRIM(A2&H2) & this is in AA2 I use the TRIM function to remove any extraneous data So, in, AA2 is the value of HIL0015254 where HIL001 is the customer (in A2) & 5254 the product code (in H2).     - changeing words conditional?? please help I have got a list of companys with abbreviated names with our purchase spend with each company, I also have a master list of what the abbreviated names full alternative. I need to find the proportionate cost of each item. For example if the total packs of A-G was 100 and A alone was 50 it would recieve half of the cost (100).     - Is there an easier way... I have created a spreadsheet used to track gas mileage. Each row contains the date of fill-up, amount to fill up, pricer per gallon, miles and then calculates mileage. There is a separate section that calculates the average mileage per month along with the total miles per month. Up until now I have always selected a range of cells and used average and sum for each, but I thought there should be a more automated way. More automated meaning that each cell in the average mileage and total miles section will determine what the month was entered in each row and put the calculated mileage into the average and add the total miles to the sum. The way I came up with was set up an two additional tables: one for mileage and one for miles. Each table has a column for each month. The first cell in the first column of the first table checks the first entries date, if it matches it references the mileage for that entry. The second cell of the first column checks second entry and so on. Each cell in both tables does this check. The bottom of each column calculates average and sum which is referenced by the monthly section. Initially I was hoping a single formula could be used in each cell of the monthly section to accomplish the same task. Is there a more compact way to get the same results? Double click on the line between the column headers at the right of the
column with the long entry.

Adjust which way? Column wider or the row taller?

You can set the cells to "Wrap Text" and rows to "Autofit"

You could also set the columns to "Autofit Selection"
