    - Unexpected quote marks in exports to tab-delimited files I am experiencing a problem exporting data to a tab-delimited file. The results of the export cause unexpected (and unwanted) double quotes to appear (apparently) randomly throughout the file. They appear in certain cells - it is replicable, and it's always the same cells - but there appears to be no pattern. This happens regardless of cell format (general v text), and only when exported to a tab-delimited file and viewed from a text viewer such as notepad.     - Use same logo on multiple worksheets I have spreadsheets with six worksheets. Each worksheet has the same logo embedded in the header (Insert, Picture, From File...). This is making the spreadsheet almost a half a megabyte in size. If I remove all but one of the logo's, the file size is cut in half.     - vlookup cant be used I need a way to transfer data. I have one sheet that contains all information. All of this data needs to be transferred to a template ready for print. I have contemplated using a vlookup to quicken the method, although the data sheet will be moving too and from computers, and so the vlookup will not work. Is there any code that might possibly help me, i.e. a code that looks for the datasheet and does some sort of vlookup after it has located the file?     - Sort Solution needed I have a worksheet with 5 columns and 5 rows. A number gets entered into each cell (A1:E5).     - Removing blank rows I have a spreadsheet that pulls data from an outside source and performs certain changes to the data through a macro I run. Once the macro is finished, there are anywhere from 3,000 to 20,000 rows of data and the rest of the rows (up to 65,000 plus) are blank. Normally, when you save a spreadsheet it stops at the last row of data but for some reason (I'm assuming the functions in my macro are to blame) the spreadsheet is saved with all 65,000 plus rows. Question, is there a line of code that I can include in the macro that will delete all the blank rows at the end of the spreadsheet so that only the rows with data will remain?     - Pivot table calculated item problems Hi, Given a set of raw data shaped like this: Cat Item Value -------------------- 1 1 45 1 2 37 1 3 40 2 1 38 2 2 34 2 3 31 3 1 36 3 2 39 3 3 40 ...... I created a pivot table that uses "Cat" as a row field and "Value" as a data field. I then change the summary function for the "Value" field to use "Average". Next, I add the "Value" field as a data field again and this time change the summary function to "StDev". This all works ok. I'd like to add a calculated item to my pivot table that allows me to take the standard deviation of "Value" and divide that by the average of "Value" to calculate the coefficient of variance. When I try to add a calculated item to calculate the coefficient of variance (i.e. STDEV(value) / AVG(value) , I get the following error from Excel: "Multiple data fields of the same field are not supported when a pivottable report has calculated items" However, even if I eliminate this problem, I get another message from Excel when trying to add a calculated item as follows: "Averages, standard deviations, and variances are not supported when a pivottable report has calculated items" Can anyone suggest how I would go about adding this calculation (i.e. STDEV(value) / AVG(value) to my pivot table?     - Using some database functions in Excel I need to have Excel displaying specific values in 3 different cells, (say B2, B3 and B4) whenever I enter a certain value in B1. for example when I enter "Plavix" in B1, then automatically B2 should show "75mg", B3 = "30" and B4 = "1 tablet daily".     - Problems adjusting to XP I'm a moderately experienced user with two complaints: 1) I accidentally set the 'recently used file list' to zero, and I meant one. In the Options or wherever it is, now, the box is grayed out and I can't get it re-set to 1. Halp!! 2) 97% of my work is with mini-databases which I prefer to have in Excel, and the new Excel keeps reminding me and scolding me for having text labels which appear to be numbers [duh!!] And it scolds me when I sort.     - PERSONAL.XLS is gone after upgrade to WinXP After being upgraded to Windows XP Pro, my PERSONAL.XLS is gone. I have searched my entire HD (including hidden and system files), but it is gone. This was a Win2K Pro PC prior to the upgrade, and using Office 2003 Pro. This is a 2-fold query: 1) What is causing this file to be deleted?     - Sort data by formatting Is there any way to sort rows of data depending on their background color? Like I have around 1000 mixed up rows of 5 colors (e.g. yellow, red, green, violet, blue), and they are arranged in no specific order i.e first 2 yellow rows, then 1 red, 4 blue, then again 3 yellow, and 3 blue ...so on.     - Linking graphics between worksheets? How can I do this and is it even possible? I just tried but no luck. I've made a great workbook which prints out daily planner type pages over 31 tabs for 31 days. What's neat is that all I have to do is type in the date in one cell in the first worksheet and the remaining 30 worksheets then adjust to the rest of the month automatically due to a formula which I created through linking from one worksheet to another and then adding 1. Pretty simple stuff for most folks but this is the first time I've used the link feature so I was pretty pleased with the result. I now need to create the second type of sheet that shows a little calendar box on each page. I have a calendar-making program so that's neat but I'd like to use the same principle - create the little calendar box (approx. 1x1.25" in size) and then paste it into the first worksheet only and have it replicated in the 30 remaining worksheets. It didn't work this morning but thought I'd ask before giving up and having to paste the box into 28 to 31 worksheets in future <sigh>! <g> Thanks.     - Excel Pivot Tables Hi, Is it possible to stop a pivot table grouping the row headings so that some of the items in the row appear to have blank cells adjacent to them? This is annoying if you want to run another pivot table on the results of your first table. It means you have to copy and paste the row headings into all the blank cells which can be frustrating if you have many lines of data. What I would like is for the pivot table to show the row headings for all the values regardless if it's the same as the cell above. Or, is there another way round this (such as running a pivot table straight over the top of the other for instance?)     - Keeping multiple sheets consistent in a workbook I dont know if this is possible. Basically, I keep track of test cases using Excel. I have multiple sheets that have the same exact test case names (for alpha, beta, etc). The problem is that if I add a new test case to one sheet, I have to add it to all sheets. This is painful. What I would like is for the other sheets to update automagically. Is this possible? In other words, I am adding test case Z to sheet 1. Can test case Z now show up on sheets 2, 3, 4, and 5? I have some numbers that have functions tied to them to figure out the value I want to show... Example.... Cell B30 SUM(ROUND(B28,3)*B29 I now have other cells H20 = B30 H19 = H15 H23 = h20 - h19. All cells are showing a currency format. But when you do the subtraction the H23 shows something different (Looks like a rounding issue)....     - Sheet lookup Hello, I have values that I would like to look up on different sheets rather than the same one, so I can't use vlooup(). So far I have been defining named ranges, but my formula is getting too long. Here is what I do: SUM(IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP($A3,mar_03_batting,COLUMN(C$1)-1,FALSE)),0,VLOOKUP ($A3,mar_03_batting,COLUMN(C$1)-1,FALSE)),... Basically, see if the name can be found on the sheet, and if it can, add the vlookup'ed value in. On another note, why is vlookup() designed to return an error rather than a number??     - VLookup to Hide Columns Hi everyone - I'm still trying to figure out how to perform this one. Within my Timesheet tool, I use a VLookup table, on a data entry page, that contains employee names, departments, etc...... Also on the data entry page, are a number of columns (designated with specific housing programs) where the employee enters their daily hours depending on which program they work in. The thing is that certain employees only work in certain programs where it would be easier if the program columns that the employee does not deal with will "hide" once the employee chooses their names from the VLookup drop-down box. THIS IS WHAT I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO. I've tried a number of different VB codes and nothing seems to work.     - Loan Ammortization Forumlas? I'm trying to build a worksheet that will allow me to analyze properties when considering one for a purchase (RE Investing). Given the number of years, original principle amount and APR: * I need one formula that will give me the monthly payment (P & I). * I need one formula that will give me the interest portion of the first payment. However when I enter the info using the financial functions provided in Excel (Pmt, IPmt and I think a couple others), they all return either $150 too low or a few $1000 too high. Can someone help me with this? Assume the Original Principal is in B6, the APR is in D6 (as a whole number--i.e. 7.00% is displayed as 7.00), the number of years is in G6.     - 3-D Address References and Names It seems that 3-D cell addresses transfer to other workbooks (not worksheets) only as constants, such as "(specific cell value)". The record macro that results from that will have a paste information as "(specific cell value)", and not a variable. Does one have to go to Excel Visual Basic to express a variable, so the macro is reusable for other workbooks with different cell values?
