    - Freezing Panes Hi All I have a question about freezing panes. I know that you can freeze panes at one point in your spreadsheet (Say the first 5 rows) whereby you can scroll down as much as you want and the top 5 rows stay constant on your spread sheet. What I am looking to do is to freeze to points on a spreadsheet so that you can scroll only through a defined area. For example: Rows 1 through 5 are frozen Rows 200 through 205 are frozen So you can only scroll in between rows 6 and 199. That was my column headers and my totals for the information that I am entering are always visible on the screen and I can only scroll in between the two frozen pane area. Is this possible, either through excel itself or through some variation of coding? Any and all comments and assistance with this would be greatly appreciated and I thank all responses in advance.     - Excel help please.. I have a sheet that I am keeping golf score on, what I have is in columns A3,A4,A5,A6,A7 etc I will input my scores.     - Excel Help.. PLEASE... I am using M$ Excel that I got with Office XP... I am making a Rugby World Cup spreadsheet... With scores, tries scored, total points, and so on.... But I am stuck.... I am after a formula that works out that IF a team has scored 5 tries they get a bonus point, IF the team wins by more than 7 points they get a bonus point... Also one that works out that a team has won, and entering that into the Win column... I want it all to do that from when I enter the scores of the teams, and tries score... also, after a formula that works out from the quarter final results and the semi final teams, and from the semi final results to show which team goes where for the final and 3rd/4th place play-offs....     - Maximum Excel size I have a text file that has about 200,000 lines of data that I am trying to import into MS Excel. When I do, only 65,536 lines import and a message appears "File not loaded completely." Is there any way to have the file completely load? My pc has enough ram and cpu power to handle it. If there is no way to load the entire file, is there any other program that could be recommended that would meet my needs.     - CTRL-G 'go to' shortcut key I searched on support.microsoft.com and here, but didn't find an answer to this question. Hope someone here can help. Is there a way to "clean out" the list of "references" that appear when the CTRL+G (Go to) shortcut key combo is used? What I see in the list of references is the 3 Names I've inserted into my workbook, but I also see other cell references that I don't expect to ever use again.     - Dates in excel Okay, here's the problem... I am creating a spreadsheet that sorts out video rentals. When a video is rented and the number of nights rental is input, the date that the film is due for return is put into a cell using the following formula: =NOW()+NO_OF_NIGHTS n.b. NO_OF_NIGHTS refers to the cell containing number of nights Now, the problem with this is that when you open the spradsheet the next day, the date for due return has been updated by one day.     - Please help with cut and paste I know this sounds simple but I am having a problem with cut and paste in Excel 2003. When I go to Pricewatch.com, copy and paste a group of cells, for example the lowest price on a specific CPU to an Excel spreadsheet, the column which has the price with shipping only shows with the big BUY NOW button. In office XP, I used to be able to select the button and move it to the side of the columns so it wasn't in the way. Im an Excel Newbie!!1 I have an Invoice worksheet which I must use VLOOKUP function to import data such as customer name, customer code, customer address, etc. My study sheets didn't explain how to use VLOOKUP for obtaining data from different files. Basically on the Invoice worksheet, in the cell under customer code use the VLOOKUP function to enter the customers name (from the table on the customers worksheet). In the cell under customers name use VLOOKUP to enter customers address, in the cell under customers address use VLOOKUP to enter suburb,state and postcode (from customer worksheet).     - Simple problem... I am new to using Excel. I want to create a column that has the days of the month (1 Nov 03 thru 30 Nov 03).     - Excel 2003 Read Only Error I saved two files to a floppy from Excel 2003. Simply did a Save As command and nothing else, not even changing the file name. I took these files to two different machines, one running Excel 2000 and the other Excel XP. Neither file would open. The error was Saved as Read Only. I don't even know how to save a file as Read Only. I brought the floppy back to the machine where the files were saved from. I'm trying to create a workbook that will enable me to type in a text string (entrees for food service in this case) and then use that string to search another worksheet that contains all of the menu items and their nutritional information and then to display the info on the first worksheet.     - PivotTable External Data I've created PivotTables for years from Excel spreadsheets and external data using Office 2000 and 2002. No problems. I try this feature out on a new XP Pro machine with Office 2003 Pro and when I go to create a PivotTable within Excel using external data (I want to link to an Access file), I click on the Get Data button, and the only thing that happens is in the bottom left hand corner of the spreadsheet it states "waiting for data to be returned from Microsoft Query" for a few seconds and then stops.     - No update with more than 3 workbook chain I know this has been mentioned, but I can't find my exact situation in the previous few days posts. I have 5 excel documents. DocA.xls, DocB.xls, DocC.xls, DocD.xls, DocE.xls. My accounting department has a very elaborate reporting/calculating string of documents growing. They have over 100 documents all linked to each other in the same directory. DocA.xls is modified and it has a link to DocB.xls. DocB.xls uses information from a linked field in DocA.xls to calculate a new field. DocC.xls then uses this field to calcualte a field in DocD.xls. DocE.xls then looks at DocD.xls to make the final calculation. Problem: Users report that if they make a change in DocA.xls and save, then open DocE.xls that the calculation hasn't been changed by the modification just made to DocA.xls. However, if they go and open all the other files (DocB.xls, DocC.xls, DocD.xls) that DocE.xls will then have the correct information. Can anyone help me with this problem. I have never made a macro so if a macro is required can you please give me a detailed explaination or tell me where I can find it ;) I also have found information on "Update Links" and Tools - Options - Calculation tab, check to make sure "Update remote reference is checked". Trying to open an excel file with size > 16Mbytes is not succesful in
ExcelXP (winXP), but is succesful in Excel2000 (Win2000).
If I delete one worksheet, on Excel 2000, save and move to ExcelXP, I am
able to open and to modify. As soon as I add one worksheet (even an empty
one), I cannot re-open the file on the ExcelXP.
The error message: serious problem, please send report to Microsoft. Even
so, nothing happens.
I am using a number of charts, links, colors, but all within the
specification of excelXP.

Any Help?

When you "click here" for more details, what does the error signature
contain?

From the outset, it sounds like you may have a damaged workbook. Consider
round-tripping to Excel 5/95 format.
