    - share violation? Good morning, We have a strange problem here with Excel2003, person A opens a document and person B opens the same document without any warning about ''read only'' or something like that. Anothetr example is that person A opens a document and person B opens the same document, person B gets a warning about the document is opened by person A and person A gets a warning about ''sharing violence'' and was forced to save the document under another name.     - Find certain cell value Hi, I have a matrix with on the rows dates of stock prices and on th columns stock names. Now I'm trying to find a certain stock price on a certain date. If try to find the stock price of Microsoft on January 1st 2005, how woul this be done. I know how to lookup the stock name and the stock date (using VLOOKU etc.) but not how to combine these lookup functions in order to receiv only one cell value. Tnanks in advance.     - Buttons in worksheets Now have Excel 2003 (progress?) In Excel 97, used to be able to create a button in a worksheet and assign a macro to it Seems no longer possible in Excel 2003. All I can find is "add new button to toolbar" in the "help" - I want it in the worksheet. Has this functionality gone, if not, please point me to the instructions (or give step by step on "how to" ?     - Sorting Question I would like to read data on one page, automatically sort it, and print it on another worksheet in the same workbook without changing the data on the original page. This is information for an announcer at a sporting event, and I do not want the announcer to have to do manual excel operations, but I could use a button for a VB sort if I had to. I would prefer not to. Here is the scenario. I have several columns of data on the second worksheet in a workbook. The data is in columns C, Column D, Column Y, and column Z. The data in each of these columns has been calculated from data entered manually at the sporting event into the first worksheet in the workbook. I need to take these four columns of data from the second page to the third page of the workbook, and display it in sorted order, with the sorting based on the numeric data in column Z. Then I need to take it to the fourth page, and display it sorted based on the numeric data in column AA. Here is an example of the way the data is displayed on the 2nd Worksheet; Column C Column D Column Y Column Z ColumnAA GROUP NAME SCORE RANK IN GROUP OVERALL RANK Group A Jones 22.5 6 8 Group A Smith 22.9 5 7 Group A Kelly 50 2 2 Group A Brown 44 4 4 Group A White 50 2 2 Group A Scarlet 65 1 1 Group B Tommy 33 2 6 Group B Jane 44 1 4 Here is how I would like to have it displayed on the third worksheet - sorted by group and then by rank in the group.     - My comments have no Username! When I add a comment to a cell my UserName is not added to the front of the comment. I'm using Excel 2002 as a stand alone app (no workgroup). Is this normal?     - Deleting Check Boxes I have a series of 52 check boxes in 52 Rows, I now want to delete all of them. I've tried deleting the column, but the check boxes don't actually disappear. How do I delete them all without having to go into each one and deleting them. I've tried Edit-Go To-Special-Objects, but I've other Check boxes in the same sheet which I don't want to delete.     - Sorting imported text I have a spreadsheet into which I've imported a great deal of data in two columns only. I set out rows one, three and five of hundreds of such rows. The cells in column A consist of place names. (The "C" following the place name stands for "City", the "A" for "Area".) The cells in column C represent the population of the city or area, as the case may be. I've formatted the cells in column C as numbers. Albury (C) 44887 Armidale Dumaresq (A) 24596 Ashfield (A) 40258 I want to sort the placenames in order of their population from highest to lowest, showing their populations as well. I tried to sort the data on column C in descending order, but nothing happened. I fear that may be because of my method of importing the data. I got it by first downloading the text only of a Web page which had the data, thoughnot in a table. I then transferred the text to the worksheet.     - An easier way ?? Hi, I'm wondering if there is an easy way of filling in cells that ccorrespond with another .xls I have. Here is the scenario..... Book#1 has column A (Last name) and column B (first initial) Column C & D are blank but I want to enter employee #'s/card#'s in those columns. Now I have Book#2 with column A (Last name, first name) in the same cell Columns B & C from Book #2 need to go into Book # 1 in columns C & D in Book#1. My question is...is there a way for excel to look for the exact last name and enter these 2 columns of #'s automatically? Or do I have to do this manually. FYI.......there are more names in Book # 1 than Book #2 so it's not a matter of copying/pasting.     - Macro to insert cells and copy/paste data I have 2 tables side by side in a spreadsheet. I need to compare the 2 tables and if the names, departments etc appear in table 1 (on the left) but not in table 2 on the right I need a macro to insert cells in table 2 at the appropriate position and then copy the info from table 1 and paste it into the newly inserted cells in table 2 on the right so that both tables have the same values in the same rows. The length of the tables could vary from 20 rows to 3000 rows and may not always be in the same location (cells) when I receive them so the macro would need to be "relative" Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.     - Combining cells Using Excel 2002: I will open a text file into excel. This file has no formatting, but the end result would be using two columns. The text file for example has: Music1 from site1 and site2 special 90876 Music100 extra from site1 87654 Music02 misc sites 10020 I want to put the numbers, 90876, 87654, 65409 in the same column "B" and have the other text combined into one column "A". When I use space delimited I can move the numbers in the same column. How do I combine the rest of the text which are word for word in columns A,B,C,D etc into one column "A"?     - linear increments Hi, I am kind of new to excel and was wondering if excel is capable of doing linear increments.     - The REF error upon removing interdependent row I set up a set of equations across several rows of data that made the rows have precedents and dependents of each other. I want to delete certain rows that do not fit into the rest of the data stream, which I cannot tell until I run all the formulas. I am trying to start to automate this painful report that I do by hand every monday, I kinda was noticing what manual steps I was doing and I figure I try to automate some of it, maybe all of it with time :- ) So I wanted to do first is. The excel sheet has 6 columns, A - F A--------------B------------C Date-----------Name---------Activity D E and F have time and productivity data, but I only want to sort by A first and then by B, this I already done, so Sort by Date, then by Name. Then Look into column B and insert a 25 row space between the Names if the are not the same.. Here is my VB code so far: the Sorting works (maybe there is a way to shorten the code), but it works.. The insert 25 rows, doesn't work, so I am figuring there is something wrong there, that's the part I need help with..     - Any way to get around the number of columns limitation?     - Summing cells values based on IF formulas My sheet has cells whose values are determined by the result of an IF formula, eg =IF(LEFT(F20,3)=I$5,$G20,0) I want to have a total of each colum but when I insert a SUM formula it gives a 0 result.     - Problem copying and pasting formula Trying to copy and paste a simple formula: H2+(H2*4.1%) from original cell into the rest of the cells below it in the column. When I do this, the formula references change as they should, but the value returned is identical to the value returned in the original cell (H2), instead of returning the appropriate calculated values for the rest of the cells in the column.     - How do I create a custom calendar? Is there a way to create a custom calendar that has repeating dates, like holidays and birthdays? Word, Outlook and Access, versions xp and 2003.

I know i can do a screen shot but when i try to enlarge the image it comes
out distorted.
