Excel 97 on a XP Pro.

The formula for this cell is "=CASH!A1". I want it to just copy the
content of the A1 cell in the CASH sheet, so whenver I change the
content of A1 the cell will be updated automatically.

It used to work quite well until yesterday when it just show the words
"=CASH!A1" instead of getting the information.

What did I do wrong? Help

Does this occur with all formulas?

Perhaps you are in Formula View. Hit CTRL + `(backquote above Tab key)

OR

The cell was pre-formatted as Text.

Format to General then hit F2 then ENTER to re-enter the formula.

Thanks. 2nd method worked.

What is the F2 and "enter" about? Where can I find this in the online
help?

I also tried to re-format the entire row of cells to GENERAL then F2
them. But I can only do the cells one by one. Any help appreciated.

F2 is a quick way to put a cell into edit-mode. If you F2 and the just hit
Enter without changing anything, Excel will re-evaluate the cell and this
can be used to 'correct' some formats.

You could try selecting the column and then do a Data>Text To Columns and
hit the Finish button immediately.
