    - Text to Columns Having used the "Text to Columns" tool once on a worksheet (to separate by spaces), I find I can't switch it off. Every subsequent time I try to copy and paste some other text from a single cell, for some completely different reason, the pasted data gets spread over many columns if there are any spaces in the text.     - Grouping rows based on like data in a cell and then separating them Lets say you have a 15,000 line spreadsheet covering about 8,000 different items. Some items have multiple lines devoted to them. Each line is a separate transaction related to that item. After sorting the list by the item name, I now wish to have excel insert a blank line between each different name. So basically this: alpha alpha beta beta beta gamma delta delta would become this: alpha alpha beta beta beta gamma delta delta Is there any way to do that other than manually inserting rows?     - Urgently need help with a formula!!! Hello, I'm badly in need of some help with an excel formula. Essentially I need to check to see if the value of C7 is "Y" and if so for the formula then to look at D7 through to J7 and look for a value of "Yes". the total amount of "Yes" boxes should then be multiplied by J5 and the result shown in L7. It is for the purpose of a timesheet, I'm trying to calculate fuel allowances The Value C7 "Y" indicates that i drove and the values D7 through to J7 are days of the week Monday to Sunday, For each day i drove somewhere I enter "Yes" the amount i'm allowed for my fuel allowance is displayed in J5 so you can see that i need to multiply the days of the week that i drove by the allowance.     - Referencing only certain cells in a table Hello, I posted this question earlier in the execl.worksheet.functions group, but did not get an answer. I apologize for the repost. I need some help referencing certain cells from one worksheet in another. Here is an example of what I am trying to accomplish: Worksheet 1: Item # Name Value 1 item1 100 2 item2 0 3 item3 0 4 item4 54 5 item5 0 6 item6 0 7 item7 70 I need to create a separate table in Worksheet2 that as only the NON ZERO values from the table above in Worksheet 1.     - ComboBox Filter which pulls very specific Data in Excel into preset template Hello, I must say that you guys are FANTASTIC at this board and i have read many of your posts throughout the years with great results. However, i am looking for a solution to an idea I have for a finance related project i am working on. I have a 4,000 row spread sheet with information that is summarized in the following fashion: Division Code, Branch No., Account Number, Account Name, Total Year to Date Expenses . Each Division encompasses a region (e.g. North, South, East, West) with many branches under it with corresponding expenses for each branch organized by different account numbers. Some branches have more or less account numbers and i ONLY want to see SPECIFIC account number information being pulled for each branch. Now what i am looking to accomplish is to link this 4,000 row sheet to a combo box that allows me to select a branch by number (or name) and only shows specific accounts without pulling ALL accounts for that branch even if data is zero or none into a preset template : Account 2000 - Car Expense Account 3000 - Travel Expense Account 4000 - Salary expense Account 5000 - Overhead Account 6000 - Recovery Expense etc. where there could be many different account numbers for all of these branches but i only want to pull the above to display which would be linked to a chart in the same workbook. A filter does not work since you can only select one account at a time. My assumption is filter all data by branch and somehow pull the data into a pre-formatted worksheet by category using vlookups for just those account numbers that the managers only want to see. I do not want use a pivot table because the boss wants this in an income statement type of format so he can print this off by branch. If this were a database the unique key would be the branch no and account number combined. VBA code or suggestions would certainly help since we are under a time crunch.     - Windows Forms 2.0 I have a complilation problem on a windows form in a Word VBA project. I included Excel since it's one of those other languages that uses Windows Forms instead of VBA forms. Every time I open Word or Excel I get all these stupid prompts about missing picture; compile problems; etc. I can get into the VBA project-- which surprises me-- but I can't open the Windows Form; since it sits there and complains about a 'missing picture'. I double click on the form name in Project Explorer (in the VBA IDE) and it just barfs and says 'cant find picture'. it won't compile; it won't let me see the form. it won't let me export the form.     - Fill in text from drop down list box in Excel Hello, I have created a drop down list box but the list is getting too big and the user has to scroll down the list to select the data. Is there a feature I can use to display the data that start with the same string. For example: If I type "Be" in my box, the box could display the list that start with "BE or Be".     - Combo box macro problems.. help! Guys, I've been using a pretty useful worksheet macro that creates combo boxes to replace list boxes for selection and validation when you double click on a cell... (it's useful because I can create wider, longer lists, different fonts, and works on all of the validation drop downs on the spreadsheet). Unfortunately after some heavy calculation macro's the double click event seems to stop working >From what I've read in this forum I think that the problem may be to do with with Garbage collection.     - How do Count a the number of times a date range appears within a date range!? I'm stumped, I have no real idea on how to do this so any help much appreciated! I have a start date (no year ie, 1st December) and an end date (again no year say 5th Jan), And a date range, eg 11th May 2001 to 1 January 2006 for info late: 1st Dec to 5th Jan = 35 days How do i get a count of the number of 1st Decemebers to 5th Januarys in that date range for example 1st December 2001 to 5th January 2002 is 1st 1st December 2002 to 5th January 2003 is 2nd 1st December 2003 to 5th January 2004 is 3rd 1st December 2004 to 5th January 2005 is 4th 1st December 2005 to 1th January 2006 is 4.8857 4+(31/35) So there are 4.8857 1st Dec - 5th Januarys! But how do i get a formula or script to do this, preferable a formula as i need to use the result in another formula If it helps what i am ultimately trying to do is calculate an average weekly sales figure for many different products. but exclude the 5 week period beginning 1st Dec. Existing formumal is =Prod1Sales/(DAYS360(Prod1LaunchDate,ReportingDate)/7) =Prod1Sales/((DAYS360(Prod1LaunchDate,ReportingDate)/7)-NoDecJans*35) Where NoDecJan is the formula i cant work out for the number of Dec-Jan periods, and the 35 is the 35days in the period.     - Sending mail from within Excel How can I fix the problem of not being able to send mail from within Excel. When I click send to, then mail attachment, I get a log in screen from "loginnet.passport". I use Novell Groupwise as my default mail handler. It works fine from Word.     - office 2003 eraser? team; i have a friend that is having trouble with this 3rd party software (it is an office add-in) he wants to start his desktop from scratch- aka use an office eraser in order to delete EVERY POSSIBLE SETTING, FILE AND SHORTCUT. he's been through it a couple of times and the 3rd party app isn't working on his machine. and it keeps on complaining about a compile error in hidden module.     - Day and Date - How to Automate I create a schedule each month. There is a column heading for each day of the month formatted like this. It is a General format: Sunday 10-1 Monday 10-2 Tuesday 10-3 ... and so on. Each month, I manually retype the day and date of each column to correspond with the current month.     - Speeding up Excel - Large amounts of data, no complex formulas Hi There, I am currently investigating what is the most cost effective way of speeding up excels calculations for large spreadsheets. The sheets do not contain what I would consider to be overely complex formulas with the main tools being VLOOKUP, with maybe a few nested IF statements. No complex maths as it mainly database manipulation type activity. Currenlty it is taking too long to recalculate and even with manual calculation enable is proving to be a hinderance to productivity. I was wondering if this is solvable by building a more suitable PC unit or if the best way to go about it lies outside upgraded hardware.     - Calculation speed I have a not hugely complex workbook which I have been running without fuss. Now, on machines upgraded to use Excel 2003, every time you enter a new piece of info it takes up to a minute to calculate whilst the same file is fine on the previous version of Excel. I can turn the automatic calculation off and there is no delay but it seems odd to have to do this given that it had no problem previously. Is there a simple trick I am missing?     - Small blank pictures hiding borders in 2003 When I open an Excel 2000 worksheet in Excel 2003, sometimes some of the cell borders appear to be hidden. When I click one of those hidden borders, I see six handles and a green rotate handle surrounding what appears to be nothing. When I drag one or more of those handles, the object expands to a large white rectangle. When I right-click on the white rectangle, one of the options in the context menu is Format Picture. These mysterious objects weren't in the Excel 2000 worksheets, but they appear when opened in Excel 2003. Any idea what causes them and/or what to do about them? Thanks!     - Pivot Table Subtotal of Calculated Field Problem I have created a pivot table for the purpose of viewing revenues by sales person, company and project. I am having a problem with the subtotals due to my use of a calcuated field. PLEASE HELP!! Here is the info: Sample Data Sales Person Company Project Sale Price August Order Qty Sam Company 1 Project 1 $100 10 Sam Company 1 Project 2 $300 5 Sam Company 1 Project 3 $250 10 Sam Company 2 Project 1 $100 20 etc..... I created a calculated field for the pivot table which is Sale Price * August Order Qty to get the August Revenue. What I would like it to do is show Sam and revenue totals per company and project and then subtotal by company. In the example above, the subtotal for Company 1 is not calculated by adding the revenues for each project for company one, it's calculated by adding the sales prices for each and the number of units for each. That is an astronomical number. While I wish my company's revenue's were that high, they simply aren't accurate and it's really causing me a problem. HELP!!!!!!! Our company is finally moving from Office 2002 (Excel) to Office 2003
(Excel) and I am wondering if there will be any problems, issues using Excel
2003 from files created from Excel 2002. I don't think so unless an Active
X is embedded in a marco or in the actual file. Any tips or know issues
will be appreciated. Thank you advance.

I don't think you'll have any problems migrating from xl2002 to xl2003.

Remember that if you're supporting both versions, it's better to do your
development in the oldest version of excel--just to make sure you don't depend
on any of the new features added in the newer versions.
