    - Relocate My Outlook Look / Excel Settings I have changed my system because of some unavoidable reason. I was using Windows 2000.     - large excel file problems I have a gig of memory. I also have an excel file with 14000 lines. When I try to copy 10000 lines from another large file my pc slows to a crawl for a long long long time. I've increased to size of my swap file, turned off antivirus, closed all other programs, turned off Excel's automatic calculation and still get the same problem. What else can I try?     - leading zero problem Hi, I have been given some call data from my telecomms provider in csv format. I have tried importing that into excel so I can then import into an access table but the format got messed up so I have converted the raw data file to txt. Problem with both when I import into excel is that in my CalledNo cell, I have a leading space in front of the phone number which is of the format 01234567890. I have tried using the data > text to columns tool but this deletes the 0 even tho I keep the cell format as text. I have also tried TRIM function however not all numbers are the same length.     - how can I compare spread sheets? This does not solve it :( My data in the two sheets are not in the same order of cells. e.g A2 i sheet1 may be duplicate of A325 in sheet2.     - Links not linking Hello I have written a fairly big spreadsheet linking through the pages with SUM, SUMIF and SUMPRODUCT formula's What I am now finding is that when I update one page it doesn't update the rest, even if I am only typing in a figure to the SUM function. I need to establish a cell at the bottom of the run sheet page (example attached) or B60 that says IF the drivers name for this example is Emily THEN go to each Emily on the drivers column I4:I20 and get that total charge which is the last figure to the right T$:T20 and then add the totals for Emily and enter that total into an Emily's cell box at the bottom somewhere on the run sheet, B60 Driver column has different drivers in it of course.     - vlookup formula Is it possible to use a cell refence, in which the referred to cell lists the workbook and array, as the range for a lookup formula. I am attempting to use the same VLOOKUP formula to access a variety of files which are employee timesheets.     - Changing a cells format I had some one type in some data for me and when I got it the cell box has a Little green triangle in the top left hand corner- I assume that this means it is a text format. If double click on each cell it changes the format so I can do Sum etc. But we are talking a lot of Data- Is there a way I can select the column and change the format?     - Excel 2003 doesn't save files in network disk drive WinXP Pro SP2 + Office2003 OEM All the applications open, edit and save in the netwoth HDD but Excel2003 doesn't save. It opens an existing file, we try to save it and it shows a error message related with sharing permissions. It creates a temp file but even that returns error. All other applications work perfectly. Even with a new worksheet it does the same. Does not allow to save in the network drive. The same users in other computers have no problem. It's a brand new machine, new software. Error ID 10036.     - File is saved on opening Hi all, I have an Excelfile that, when I open it, immediately saves itself. have no idea why it does that and since it is a file of nearly 50 Mb, really hate to spend a lot of time to watch Excel save that 50 Mb' every time I open the file. I created the file, but after that it' been used by others. The AutoSave is not installed. This original 50Mb file contains severa macros, none of them have any AutoOpen statements, but just to be sure I copied the file and stripped it completely. I now have a file that contains no macro's and just 1 empty sheet. Th size is now 17 kb, but it still saves on opening (a lot faster than th 50 Mb :) ). I can't think of any reason why Excel would do that. An it's just those two files (the original and the copy), because when open another file, nothing happens. Has anyone a clue as to what is happening here? Is there any optio that's checked and should be unchecked?     - Excel Time Problem I exported a file from a telephone switch reporting system as a "tab separated text" file, because when I export the data in Excel I have to deal with merged cells and other formatting problems. I have a couple of columns that have time values like 160:02:05 for logged in time, and 34:16:46 as the waiting dime? Both are time ?DURATIONS? or time in a state. I used the Format, Cell, custom and [ss] to get the duration value to seconds, and I get 123406 and 576125 respectively. I then use these numbers in a calculation typically like 1338 / (576125 - 123406) and I get 219 as the answer. The problem occurs if I do the same calculation on a calculator. The same formula 1338 / (576125 - 123406) gives 9.14 as the answer... I know that the 9.14 is in the right range for my answer. How do I get excel to give me the right number. Note: all of the other Duration values that I am using in my calculations match the calculator answer.     - Chart setting First excuse me for my bad english :-) I realized a chart with a set of numbers on the X-axix. The problem is that the interval between each number is not constant, while the chart represents each of them at the same distance, as they were text labels. How to solve? My problem is it's not working consistently (because of my editing the spreadsheet I expect) and I CANNOT find out how it's done.     - summing values in certain months I have used the count number of dates appears in certain months: =sum((month(a2:a11)=b2)*(year(a2:a11)=c2)*1) quite successfuly. Now I need to add the values in another column fo that month. So in other words, search column a2 to a11 with the dat specified and if there is a value in column d then add all the value together and give me a total money received for that month. I am perplexed a bit with an annoying problem that is user error I am sure: Most of the time, I can go to a cell and type in =F8+G8 and I get wonderful number that comes out. But other times the output will be "=F8+G8" and the whole column is that way?     - Inventory control problem I'm a first timer using xls for inventory control but ran into problem. I have 2 columns Pulled and Returns. When you first inpu numbers in it calculates the Inventory on Hand correctly. The proble is that the inputs are done daily and when delete the old numbers i the 2 columns and input the new ones...it disregards the previous day numbers. Some of my columns are getting very long and I am finding it frustrating to
scroll up to the top of the worksheet to make sure that I am inputting into
the correct column.

Is there a away to keep the column title visiable when scrolling down to the
lower realms of a worksheet?

Hi Sonars,
For display you would freeze panes
Select cell B2 then Window (menu), Freeze panes
To unfreeze select all cells, Window, unfreeze panes

You select one cell, or row or column, past what you want
to freeze.

For printing
File, Page setup, Sheet, Rows to repeat at top: $1:$1

Put your cursor just below and just to the right of what you want to FREEZE.
Then,
window>freezepanes
