    - Linking graphics between worksheets? How can I do this and is it even possible? I just tried but no luck. I've made a great workbook which prints out daily planner type pages over 31 tabs for 31 days. What's neat is that all I have to do is type in the date in one cell in the first worksheet and the remaining 30 worksheets then adjust to the rest of the month automatically due to a formula which I created through linking from one worksheet to another and then adding 1. Pretty simple stuff for most folks but this is the first time I've used the link feature so I was pretty pleased with the result. I now need to create the second type of sheet that shows a little calendar box on each page. I have a calendar-making program so that's neat but I'd like to use the same principle - create the little calendar box (approx. 1x1.25" in size) and then paste it into the first worksheet only and have it replicated in the 30 remaining worksheets.     - Excel Pivot Tables Hi, Is it possible to stop a pivot table grouping the row headings so that some of the items in the row appear to have blank cells adjacent to them? This is annoying if you want to run another pivot table on the results of your first table. It means you have to copy and paste the row headings into all the blank cells which can be frustrating if you have many lines of data. What I would like is for the pivot table to show the row headings for all the values regardless if it's the same as the cell above.     - Keeping multiple sheets consistent in a workbook I dont know if this is possible. Basically, I keep track of test cases using Excel. I have multiple sheets that have the same exact test case names (for alpha, beta, etc). The problem is that if I add a new test case to one sheet, I have to add it to all sheets. This is painful. What I would like is for the other sheets to update automagically. Is this possible? In other words, I am adding test case Z to sheet 1. Can test case Z now show up on sheets 2, 3, 4, and 5? I have some numbers that have functions tied to them to figure out the value I want to show... Example.... Cell B30 SUM(ROUND(B28,3)*B29 I now have other cells H20 = B30 H19 = H15 H23 = h20 - h19. All cells are showing a currency format. But when you do the subtraction the H23 shows something different (Looks like a rounding issue)....     - Sheet lookup Hello, I have values that I would like to look up on different sheets rather than the same one, so I can't use vlooup(). So far I have been defining named ranges, but my formula is getting too long. Here is what I do: SUM(IF(ISERROR(VLOOKUP($A3,mar_03_batting,COLUMN(C$1)-1,FALSE)),0,VLOOKUP ($A3,mar_03_batting,COLUMN(C$1)-1,FALSE)),... Basically, see if the name can be found on the sheet, and if it can, add the vlookup'ed value in. On another note, why is vlookup() designed to return an error rather than a number??     - VLookup to Hide Columns Hi everyone - I'm still trying to figure out how to perform this one. Within my Timesheet tool, I use a VLookup table, on a data entry page, that contains employee names, departments, etc...... Also on the data entry page, are a number of columns (designated with specific housing programs) where the employee enters their daily hours depending on which program they work in. The thing is that certain employees only work in certain programs where it would be easier if the program columns that the employee does not deal with will "hide" once the employee chooses their names from the VLookup drop-down box. THIS IS WHAT I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO. I've tried a number of different VB codes and nothing seems to work.     - Loan Ammortization Forumlas? I'm trying to build a worksheet that will allow me to analyze properties when considering one for a purchase (RE Investing). Given the number of years, original principle amount and APR: * I need one formula that will give me the monthly payment (P & I). * I need one formula that will give me the interest portion of the first payment. However when I enter the info using the financial functions provided in Excel (Pmt, IPmt and I think a couple others), they all return either $150 too low or a few $1000 too high.     - 3-D Address References and Names It seems that 3-D cell addresses transfer to other workbooks (not worksheets) only as constants, such as "(specific cell value)". The record macro that results from that will have a paste information as "(specific cell value)", and not a variable.     - Dynamic link to Visio object? I am posting this here because Excel users seem to do more linking. I'm having trouble getting this answered in the Word NGs. I am looking for a way to embed individual Visio graphic objects in a Word document in such a way that only a link is actually stored in Word -- not the entire graphic object. I am writing a large tutorial that includes hundreds of graphics -- as many as 7-8/page. Some pages are 90% graphic images with just a few lines of text. I am creating the graphics in Visio. I started out just using cut and paste to paste the actual graphic objects into the Word document. This causes the Word document to get very large (8MB and growing). It takes forever to load and save. It also is a pain to fix all of thse images if they need to be changed. I started looking around for another way. I wanted a way to just ink the images, rather than storing the actual image. This should be much smaller and I could update the images in Visio and have them automatically updated in Word. I rememebered Paste Special from some Excel work I did awhile ago. So I tried it. I opened Visio, selected an object, and pressed Ctrl+C to copy it to the clipboard. I then opened the Word document and clicked on Edit | Paste Special | Paste Link. It apeared to work. The image appeared in the Word document. If I changed it in Visio, it was automatically changed in Word. Perfect. Or so I thought. When I went to save the document, it took longer than I thought it should, so I checked the size. It was almost .5MB and it only had a few images. It appears that Word is storing both the link and the actual image. What's up with this? So, my question remains: how can I embed just a link to a single Visio object in a Word document without including the actual object. Thanks, and sorry for bothering you all with a Word problem.     - Macro Help Dear Experts I hope someone could help me with a macro. I have to reconcile the fuel stock I have in the depot on a daily basis. This includes fuel amount at start of day and end of day, fuel issues to vehicles, receipts into the tanks, density and temperature of the fuel etc. I use an Excel 2000 worksheet for this work. I would like a macro button that would copy a summary of the relevant data to a second worksheet on a daily basis as I just overwrite the data on my reconcile worksheet (Dip) from the previous day. For the first of the month it should copy the date in cell A1 and the data in Cells D2:D9 in the "Dip" worksheet to the "Summary" worksheet starting in cell A2. This would occupy Cell A1 to Cell A9. For the second day of the month it would copy the same cells again and paste the data in the Summary worksheet under the previous entry, this should be in cell A11, as I would like an empty cell between each days issue.     - Creating a chart to convert hundredths to minutes My company is using a manual hundredths to minutes chart to change decimals to minutes. Example if the hours worked shows as 1.83, the .83 is converted to :50 minutes. I am using a formula to calculate hours worked for the AM and PM routes with a sign on and sign off time for each. The formula looks like this =(D11-C11)*24 Sign on time is 5:20-C11, sign off time is 9:25 D11, hours =4.08 The .08 in hundredths =05 minutes. At one point I use this formula to display 4.08 in h:mm format, =TEXT(D11-C11,"h:mm") This returns 4:05. Is there a way to create a lookup table that contains the hundredths to minutes data then the cell with the value in hundredths look up and return the corresponding value? Once I accidentally go them to the right size and saved the file, closed it, then re-opened and the drop downs were really wide again.     - is this possible? Hi! I am trying to get Excel to copy content of some cells to next sheets, depending on the number I put in last cell. IE A1:A3 have some text. Now, if I put number (2,3,4 or 5) in A4, I wanted to copy A1:A4 to Sheets 2,3,4 or5, depending which number I put in A4 (if 2, then to Sheet s, if 3 to Sheets 2 and 3 and so on).     - Keep Colun Width The Same I have a spreadsheet that I have to keep adjusting some of the columns in order to fit the headings. I'm thinking that it is only sizing wide enough for the data in the cells and not taking into account the heading width. a bit more explanation is in order. If in a cell for a formula just place
outside the print area. If a macro, how about an inputbox ("Enter a date")
