On that sheet, I'm only actually using columns out to J. I'm running Excel 2003. I have it set up to create an aimline on a chart where the goal minus the baseline divided by the number of sessions will create the change per session. (g-b/s = c). I then have an aimline that starts at the baseline and then adds the change per session for an amount of sessions. This part works great. Here's the part I need help with- I'm specifically working on the worksheet within the workbook entitled Spec Skills Ratio. I need teachers to be able to add data to new rows and still have the formulas update themselves accordingly as well as the chart attached to recognize new data. These teachers would find it difficult to copy and paste formulas so I would like the worksheet to do this for them.     - collating information from multiple sources Hi Apologies if this has been asked before, but I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to mucking around in excel, I've had a search but I don't really know what to call what I want to do, so finding the answer is tricky... Anyway. I have a dozen or so workbooks that are all of the same format, 1 work sheet with a basic list of test scenarios in each, with a unique reference for each row. What I'd like to do is pull information from all those workbooks into a separate workbook by the use of the unique reference. i.e If I type in the unique reference in the master workbook, it will search through the dozen workbooks and pull the information relevant to the key via a vlookup. I know how to do a vlookup across workbooks on a one-to-one relationship, but recursing that through a dozen files in different directories is stumping me. Is this possible? And if so, how would I do it? Any pointers or examples would be much appreciated.     - Excel 97 vs. Excel 2002 I have plenty of workbooks created in Excel 97. My company just upgraded all the office computers to Excel 2002. The workbooks with formulas created in 97 will not print in 2002. Some of them have this error-correcting thing that comes up pertaining to conditional formats.     - Excel formula help I have tried unsucessfully to come up with a formula where cell A3 = A1 - A2. I would like for the Sum of A3 to not be greater than 15, and not less than -15. My formulas thus far have been, =if(A1-A2>=15,15*1,A1-A2). This will work for the greater than 15, but when I add the statement =if(A1-A2>=15,15*1,A1-A2)=if(A1-A2>=-15,-15*1)I get an error. I need to compare a value in column D (sample IDs) of worksheet import and compare it to column A (location) of worksheet data. If the values are equal I need to set a cell in worksheet data equal to the sum of columns I:M in the same row that the sample ID = the location.     - Securing Workbooks Gang: I would like to secure my Excel 97 (and Excel 2000) workbook from users in such a way that they can only enter values in a specific range and view the results in another range. I'd like to keep my formulas and other sheets hidden from the users. I;'ve been using the Protection properties at the range, sheet, and workbook level. Unfortunately, as soon as the user saves the workbook using the Save As method, it appears that all protection is removed.     - Web Query I am currently running a macro that initiates a web query on a https site that contains mixed content (both secure and non secure items) the query keeps failing because the warning message "This site contains both secure and non secure items. Do you want to display the non secure items?" prevents the query from proceeding. Any ideas on a work around?     - vba coding I have a test tool that generates a 1079 row x 13 column csv file and I would like to automate its conversion into a spreadsheet we use to analyze it. The tool takes samples for different areas and has an id# associated with that area in one column. Some areas require two samples, others require ten. I would like to take the row associated with an id# and sum the data in columns 9-13 and place the sum in a column and row on another worksheet. If the next row of data in the csv file has the same id# I'd like to sum the data as before and place it in the next column over.     - stop update link messages I have a workbook I received (via email) from someone we buy from, I take that workbook and edit it to be able to send individual sheets to my customers. Problem is, original workbook creator has links from other workbooks on his machine When I open the workbook it asks me do I want to update the links.     - Excel 2000 zero-size window? Running Excel 2000 under Win98, the standard (non-maximised) Window size seems to have become zero. In other words, when starting Excel either by running excel.exe (from shortcut or directory display) or by clicking on an .XLS file, an entry appears in the taskbar, but no window opens on the screen. Right- clicking on the taskbar entry and clicking Restore does nothing. Clicking Maximize works properly. It is as if the normal window size has become 0 x 0. On trying to Restore the Maximized window, the window disappears again. An alternative description: Excel in what should be a normal window behaves as if minimized. It can be Maximized, but Restore is the same as Minimize. It can be made to work full-screen or not at all.     - Trouble with "MatchRequired" in XL visual basic Hi all I have to use the MatchRequired property to limit what can be entered into the spreadsheet via the form I have set up. The problem is that when an entry to put into the form combobox that is not present in the dropdown menu, I get the message "Inval property value". THE PROBLEM(s) The field is not highlighted to display to the user that it is the field they just entered that is wrong, i.e. it does not set focus. The message is not that clear - it sounds too techi for a basic user of XL - can I chnage it ?? If the entry is deleted then it still comes up with the error message even though their is a blank as an option in the dropdown. i.e "" is coded into to reflect a blank - is this different than deleting or backspacing?? I have a database with a number of address listings. I know that there are
duplicate accounts in my list. Right now the only way that I know how to do
it is to sort by address and then look for duplicates. Is there a formula
that I can use. I am familiar with Vlookup, etc, but can't find one that
works.
