In Excel 2003,

mpeg2_MP@H1440_1280x720p_29.97fps_CBR_40Mbs_openGOP_zzscan.mpv
comes before
mpeg2_MP@H1440_720x576i_25fps_CBR_45Mbs_closedGOP_alternatescan_LFF.mpv

In XP's Windows Explorer and also using DIR/ON in a command prompt
shell window, the sort order is reversed.

How do I reconcile the two so they sort in the same order?

Thank you kindly.

It requires me to create an MSN Hotmail, MSN Messenger, or Passport
account. I have a surfeit of web accounts to memorize, and I think the
answer would be of benefit to the members of this USENET newsgroup
instead of shut up behind a walled garden, owned by M$.

Install TweakUI
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/tweakui.htm
Highlight Explorer, scroll down to "Use intuitive filename sorting"
Uncheck it and click OK.

Actually it IS in the newsgroup, he just happened to point you at the
web interface to this USENET newsgroup. Which also happens to reside on
a server owned by Microsoft.

Oddly enough, version 2.0 was installed and had that attribute already
set before I reported the problem.

I checked the web page kindly provided, found a new version 2.1,
installed that, and 2.10 solved the problem.

Many thanks to Ben Lucas for pointing the way to the solution!
