    - copy and paste i currently use Excel 2003 and have a copy and paste query. i have a spreadsheet called "Orders Wk1" that has tabs for each day of the week and each tab has several column headings i.e Customer 1, Customer 2, Customer 3 etc. I would like a macro that identifies a particular column heading (i.e Customer 2) and then copies the contents of that single column into a separate spreadsheet called "Order Summary"; this needs to be done for each day of the week. The idea is to build up a history of daily orders for Customer 2. Also. each time the macro is activated the data needs to be copied into the "Order Summary" in the next available column.     - Filters / Cut and Paste issue This has been a MAJOR headache for me. Well my work around to date has been to use Open office or find some one who is still using Office 2002. Problem is large reports for a system that loves merged cells :-( or double rows etc. Thus: after some re formatting I have this... A B C D 1: Supplier Address Phone ZIP 2: xxx 165 ABC Rd 1234567 09876 3: "BLANK" Miami 04024567 "Blank" This goes on for some 36K rows. I usually apply a filter to A and select "Blanks" the cut and past to another sheet. Then undo the filter on sheet 1 to select all. My blanks are no longer there, but my other data IS. Then I get the data from sheet 2 and cut / copy into sheet 1. Result: A B C D E F G H 1: Supplier Address Phone ZIP 2: xxx 165 ABC Rd 1233 09876 "BLANK" Miami 04024567 "Blank" I can the sort and clean up. HOWEVER in Office 2007, it appears that if you copy or cut when using filters, it will apply the action to the hidden cells. Can some one Please explain how to just Delete / Cut ?     - Could someone explain this formula? Bob Philips posted a very elegant solution to a Date formula problem. =MIN(DATE(YEAR(A1),MONTH(A1)+{2,1},DAY(A1)*{0,1})) This is the first time I encounter curly braces "inside" (as opposed to "wrapped around") a formula. I suppose this is still an array formula. Could anyone point to some documentation on the net that explains this feature of Excel?     - Can't Edit comments (XL 2007) Mysterious. On ONE SHEET only; other sheets it works in normal fashion. I have comments for cells in this sheet. When i select the cell with the comment, and go to the Review, Edit Comment button, it does not behave "normally". Normally, clicking "Edit comment" brings up the comment, and focus is in the comment so it can be edited. On this sheet, clicking "edit comment" does not bring up the comment and put focus in it. Instead, it is as if "edit comment" had not been clicked. Basically, if i then move mouse back to that cell, comment pops up in 'normal' fashion as "read-only" with no focus such that it can be edited. Very reproducible for all comments on this sheet, but all other sheets work correctly and normally and comments are editable. What can be done about this?     - Sort Error I'm a pretty experienced excel user, but this one is driving me nuts, i'm on XL 2003. I am attempting a multicolumn sort of raw data. i have done this sort of the same data many, many times without error. i am on a new machine and a new Office installation so i am thinking its a setting somewhere.     - Where's my "Cancel" button I'm noticing that a lot of dialogs in Excel 2007 have only got a "Close" buttion, no Ok, Cancel, or Apply buttons. Example: Setting the format on a graph boundary, it does the changes right away. No way to revert to what it was before I started. Same with formatting the legend or axis on a graph. That's very annoying. If I decide I don't like the change, or if I accidentally get whacky, then I have to put the values back myself instead of just doing Cancel. Any way around?     - Inserting a page in Page Layout View or Page Break Preview If I have a 30 page report in Page Layout view or Page Break Preview, is there a quick way to insert a page in the middle? The order of the pages is important. I have found the quickest way to do it is to select everything on the pages below where I need to insert something, group it all, and then slide it down.     - Conditional Date Format. I would like to conditionally format a date. I have read earlier posts on conditionally formatting numbers but I have been unable to transfer this to dates.     - How to have a listbox display currency I have a form in my program that the user clicks on in special cases. The form is asking the user to supply some additional information. As a reference on the form, I planned to have a Listbox display some data the user entered before. It works except... The item displayed for the user to reference is currency. No matter what I do, I cannot get the listbox on the 2nd form to display the number (used only for reference for the convenience of the user - not for any calculations) as currency. For example. User enters $4,567 in an earlier form. This number is stored in a cell and is displayed in that formatted cell as $4,567. The new form appears, with a Listbox at the top of the form. The listbox draws the number from that cell so the user can see what he or she entered before, but it displays the total amount as 4567 instead of $4,567. Is there any way to have the listbox display the amount as $4,567, or is there any other way (other than using a listbox) that I can use to draw that number from an Excel cell and display it as $4,567 instead of 4567?     - How to retrieve source data from data plots only? Hi, I would appreciate any help on this. Basically, I have got some plots in Excel from my colleague. He had deleted all the source data used to generate those plots since he only cares about the plots. However, the source data is what I really need.     - Preserve Pivot Format - Excel 2007 I'm currently testing out Office 2007 for my company (we currently use 2003) and I've run into a couple of questions regarding pivot table formatting. 1. In 2003, when I told a pivot table to "preserve format," it actually worked. For example, I have a page field in which the text gets very long. I'd like to have it "taller" and with wrapped text. In 2003, I changed that field to "all", set my formatting, and refreshed the pivot - worked great, the cell stayed as formatted. In 2007, I have "Preserve cell formatting on update" checked. I repeat these steps... and when I change the pivot table ... the row height changes. Driving me nuts! 2. In 2003, I have pretty a simple conditional format with my pivot table. Let's say it goes from $a$5:$f$20. Column A is static while b:f contains the actual data. When I pivot, the conditional formatting disappears on b:f. It just stays on column A.     - Excel - Embedded query - change login I have multiple Excel report spreadsheets that connect to SQL Server 2005. Up until recently only internal staff were accessing these and so when the DSN was setup for use by the Excel spreadsheets it was based on Windows login permissions. However, now we have requirement to provide these report spreadsheets to external clients who will run the reports themselves, however that would mean having to add them to the appropriate Windows domain group which has login permissions, something we don't want to do. What I would prefer to do is to create a SQL login and update all of the report spreadsheets to use that instead of Windows logins. My question is can I simply update the embedded queries to use that login or do I actually have to create a new DSN and recreate all of the queries?     - Pivot Table Data Source 2007 v. 2003 Hi, people, I have the same problem with my new Excel07. I have a macro that creates pivot tables. the source is defined as range of columns (because the range of data rows may be various). but when i look at data source of created pivot tables, they end with row nr.16384 no matter how many rows the source have.     - Multiple selections in a single cell - How? I have a spreadsheet which is used to produce reports. This contains a number of different sections and each section contains a list of common statements that can be selected from drop down lists in the report. Currently this is as up to three bullet points in three separate cells I would like to be able to combine 2 or 3 statements into a single sentence, presumably in a single cell, with minimal user involvement. How can I do this? If possible I'd prefer to avoid the use of macros which I don't have a good understanding of, but am prepared to learn if some one can give a complete idiots guide as to how.     - Indirect & V/Hlookup Excel 2003 on XP. I have a workbook containing over 200 worksheets. Each worksheet is a country and for each country I have data which is a list of speeds (one per row) and along side (next column) I have a proce per speed. Obviously each country can have a diferent range of speeds. I am attempting to consolidate these worksheets on to one sheet, with the Countrys going down and the speeds going across (this range of speeds is a complete range that covers all speeds included in the country sheets). I am attempting to use Indirect to change worksheet as per country (column A) and lookup for the speed from column B to AD (row 6) within each country and extract the price for that relevant speed in that country.     - adding error bars to graph in XL2007 So, am I just missing something or is this really as terrible as it seems to me? I'm trying to add error bars to a graph, and take the size of the error bars from the same spreadsheet as the data points, from the column right next to data point values. So I try to use the "Custom Specify Value" thing, and browse over to the spot on the spreadsheet. But the dialog is on top, and then there's the little floating box with the button on it. And I can't *see* the spreadsheet section with the data on it, because the dialog is hiding it and I can't move the dialog, because the floating button thing is open. It starts out by putting in error bars of constant value 1, erasing the pre-existing error bar values, meaning I have to start over again and can't just make some small change. Like, for example, I grabbed the wrong column (see the previous bit about not being able to see my spreadsheet) and wanted to change it. Well it erased it and started over with a constant value of 1.     - summing based on substring I receive a xls weekly with hit data for a web site. The data are in the following form (note: there's 2 cols): abcfoo 2 abcbar 6 deffoo 4 defbar 1 ghibar 2 I need to sum up the data based on the last 3 characters (bar and foo above). I need to format it in a uniform way so that I can import it (and map it properly) into ACT after converting it to a .csv format. There are two toolbars that contain buttons.

The Forms toolbar has the button you wanted to use.

You used a commandbutton from the Control toolbox toolbar.
