    - Loading Data into Multiple sheets in 1 book Hi All I have 2 questions 1. I am trying to automatically create a workbook with a number of sheets in it with different data. I see how the command mode allows you to feed data to a (one/first) sheet (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\excel.exe" H:\':DETAIL.XFER.SHORT.FILENAME) but how do you get data to sheets 2 3 4 etc in the workbook? 2.     - Relatively referencing a worksheet from another worksheet I've been having this problem with a bunch of Excel documents in various folder. Now all worksheets reside in the same folder but at different level going no more than two levels in. However every worksheet more than one level up references one worksheet at the folder root. This is where all the folders draw their core values from. There are about 30 or more worksheets that draw their values from this file however, I'm trying to send this to a client to look at and play with the numbers of the base file, except that every worksheet references that base excel worksheet absolutely so the entire folder path is the reference to the worksheet. This won't work if I'm giving it to someone else, so is there any way to change it to a relative reference that will reference the base worksheet in a folder below it?     - Mathematical operation on a value retrieved from a different sheet I'm working with 2 Excel sheets, PLY TABLE and LIBRARY TABLE. PLY TABLE will allow the user to insert the corresponding data and the LIBRARY TABLE will display the summary of the data entered in PLY TABLE. The problem is that, how could I possibly do a mathematical operation to the value in PLY TABLE to be displayed in the LIBRARY TABLE? Example: I want to add the value in PLY TABLE, cell H29 with 6.     - Patients forms Hello Everybody: I started to look read your postings recently and it has been amazing what I have learned. For that I thank you all. I have this situation. I am a physician trying to put my patients clinical histories into excel. The reason being I want to use its capabilities for reporting, statistical analisis and data consolidation without having to import or export from and to other programs. I want it to be something that, by having dsigned it, I can understand to perfection. I though of doing it in Forms, in sequens, where in one I put the bios of the patient, next current illnes, next history, and so on. Any suggestions? Maybe there is a string out there already dealing with this. If so, please put me in the right direction. And again, thank you for sharing your knowledge with those like me that, some times (or many times) don't have a clue what your are saying, but that are learning anyway.     - Macro to insert data into next blank row? I have a list of names, addresses, etc that I'm setting up for a mail merge. I already have a macro that converts the names from a format like this: Col A Name Address City, state, zip Col A Col B Col C To this: Name Address City, State, Zip I need to be able to take the normalized data and paste it into another workbook that has the finished list in it.     - Stopping VBA code when it hits the last row I have a list of data the is in 4 columns, and the number of rows will vary from week to week.. Columns A-C are filled with data, and Column D will only have data in certain cells (ie, row 6 could have a value and then the next row to have a value could be row 20...and this value may or may not be different than the value in row 6). I am trying to wrote code that will fill in the blanks in column D, so it would copy the value in row 6 to all blank cells below it until is finds another value (7-19 in my example). Then it will find the next value and copy that to all blank rows below it, and so on until all cells are filled. It's working fine except that the length of the report varies from week to week, so my code will error out when it comes to the bottom of the worksheet. Is there a way to write code to check for the cell reference, and then stop if it = a certain cell?     - Reading HTML Controls I have a spreadsheet that has data in in HTML controls. For example in D4 there is an embed function that contains the control HTMLText15.     - collect data from the same row in multiple spreadsheets I have 140 employees with a separate workbook for each.The workbooks contains their by-weekly timesheets. Each workbook has 26 sheets (one for each pay period). I need to start a workbook that will contain the total line for each employee (line 37).     - mystery background color In some worksheets that I've inherited, I noticed that there seems to be a way to give sheets a background color other than Format/Sheet/Background (which uses an image) and Format/Cells/Patterns. As is the case of Format/Sheet/Background, this color does not print. In the workbooks in question, the color does not vary from sheet to sheet, so it may (or may not) be workbook-wide. My default window text color in Windows 2000 is white, so that's not it. In fact, there are two such colored workbooks, and the two colors are different, although both are variations of gray.     - Cell Reference Formula Outside Workbook I am trying to reference a cell outside of my current spread sheet. I am using a cell in my current sheet as an input for the extension of the file I would like to look in. So I have this defined as LINK. And the value of link is something like C:\\Myfolder\ready.xls I am trying to set up a formula in my sheet that will use this reference to the cell on the first page, which I defined as LINK so when I change the value of the cell all my values will update to the new folder and document, but retain their previous page, column and row references. For example.     - Checkbox Problem on Locked Worksheet Hello all, I am having a problem on a worksheet I created to track employee time. The problem is with the checkboxes. The employee can check the boxes, and you will see the days field at the bottom automatically update. With the sheet protected, the checkboxes go crazy. If you play with them and try to click them, you will see that if you click one, it may check the one next to it, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - Filling in a column with text I tried doing some searches on my problem, but it is so hard to summarize in a few keywords. The subject, above, is not very accurately descriptive, either. Here is my issue: I am an engineer in a production environment. We track the Downtime for the various pieces of equipment that we run. We have a spreadsheet where the production operators input the equipment data. Each day has a time column depicting the 24 hours in a day in 15 minute increments (15min/cell). To the right of the Time coIumn, I have a column that a production operator is supposed to update every 15 minutes with the current state of the piece of equipment that they are operating. The operator chooses from a drop down list of Downtime categories that was created using Data Validation. The sheet has a default state for the Downtime Categories column. It is much more conducive to production to have the operators update the state of the equipment only when an event occurs, not actually every 15 minutes. So they don't have to keep coming back to the computer every 15 minutes to update the state of the equipment after there has been an event and because I don't want them to have to backfill in the cells between events, I would like to be able to automatically fill in all the cells below the event with the current Equipment State category. Example: The equipment has been running fine for the first 2 hours of a shift (6-8am). The operator, at the start of the shift, had changed the Default entry to 'Up'. I would like all the cells below that entry to change from the Default to 'Up'. Let's say then, after 2 hours the equipment breaks and needs repairs. The operator would then change the entry at 8am to 'Equipment Failure'. I would like all the cells, below 8am, to then read 'Equipment Failure'. How do I do this???????     - Unique text count with multiple criteria? This formula is working but what it's doing right now is giving me a total unique count of names PER QUEUE. Sometimes agents work in two or more queues per day, so what I need it to do is give me a total unique number of names even if the same name shows up under multiple queues. Make sense?     - Gridlines problem Excel 2000 I am trying to print gridlines on a workbook and instead of getting the gridlines, I am getting a line around the outside of the data, like a text box frame. I have been using gridlines for quite a long time and never came across this before.     - Sort Cells/Columns I have three lists of items (numbering about 150) on a single sheet using columns A, D & G. I need to sort these in alphabetical order continuous across all three columns.     - Code returns TRUE instead of value Essentially what I am trying to do is this: I am trying to calculate depreciation. I use the DateAdd function to add x number of months(Cell "F & Row that is active") to the acquisition date(Cell "H & Row that is active" of an asset. If the sum of those dates is greater than the End of life (Cell "I & Row that is active") of that asset then there is a payment for that month and the value in Range("K" & Row) is place in the active cell until the entire cell range from M7 to AC63 is filled. If the sum of those dates is not greater the End of life (Cell "I & Row that is active") of that asset then a value of zero is place in that cell. In either case the value in (Cell "F & Row that is active") decremented by 1 for the next time the loop is run. It runs, and the range is being filled, but there is not supposed to be a payment for every cell in the range. There are no zeros for when the condition is false. Additionally, the entire Column "M" only has the word TRUE and not a numerical value. My macro is as follows. Please help.     - Counting Entries across a row Hi, I have a spreadsheet with 12,000 rows of data. Each row has data on the product and country it is sold. The columns are basically labeled: Product Name Argentina Austria Brazil Belgium....and so on.... There are 50 column headers (One for each country our products are sold in!). I need to count how many countrys each product is sold in... Unfortunately, where there is a positive result for a country in a row - it is labeled with the country ISO code. i.e product A2 (cell reference) is sold in Argentina, then in the ARgentina column, there is the text input AR. So, is there a way of counting all the columns that have text in them and totalling up the count (i.e. 6 countries, 5 countries etc.) for each row? Anyone can give me some advice on a decision tree style presentation in
XL? I want to do a survey which is to guide the user to a proper
result. Since I have already had all the tree structure, the only thing
I have to do is input the tree structure, and let the program keep
asking user, and then guide them to the leaves of the tree...

Sounds like a job for Hyperlinks...........Enter text, then do Insert >
Hyperlink > and follow the menu....
