Export to comma-delimited format doesn't seem to work
I apologize for the elementary question. I have an Excel spreadsheet which
is simply a list of email addresses. I want to export them to a format
allowing me to paste them into the "To" field of an email. (In case you're
concerned, this is not unsolicited bulk commercial email). I've been able to
export them to a .csv format, but it doesn't seem to have the commas, which
confuses me and my email software.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Tables in Excel '07 - Wrap Text
Wrap text is not working in the cells in my tables. I right click on any
cell > Click on Table Properties > Select the Cells Tab > Select Options and
I ensure that "Wrap Text" is checked. However, text is not wrapping. Please

Conditional custom number format?
Is there a way to make a conditional custom number format? I have two
formats that ALMOST work for what I need, but not quite. #.# works for most
numbers, but if there is no decimal in the number it displays an unnecessary
decimal. ## works for most numbers EXCEPT for ones with a decimal, which it
cuts off on the end. Can I make excel apply #.# to any cell with a decimal
in it and ## to all the rest? Or is there some other custom number format
that will work? Here is a sampling of the numbers I need to display
properly, but all need to have the same format applied to them:

I am trying to get around the problem of having numbers alrger tha 12 digits
display in scientific notation. Usually, it would work to change to text
format but ONLY if that's done prior to the number being entered. I am
having to work with a huge report produced from a database which
automatically generates with the "general" format on all the cells. My only
option is to apply a format after the fact, and text format will not
automatically update the display of those 12+ digit numbers. But number
formatting will, if I can just find the right format.

Date format problem
I have several workbooks with date-formatted cells that work properly. I
just created a new one, however, that will not display properly. I have
tried several "date" settings and also the "custom, d-mmm-yy" setting, yet
information placed in the cells come up as a date in "Jan 1900" or as
"###########" with the message that negative dates aren't allowed. I have
tried to use "format painter" from the sheets that work properly but to no
avail. What am I missing?

Links to password protected workbooks
Hello, I have a summary sheet which links to many (20ish) password protected
files. Every time I open it or update the links, I have to enter many
(20ish) passwords.
Is there a way I can avoid or automate this process.
I am happy to use VBA (or any other method), but bear in mind that the files
are big and take 10 seconds or so to open.

Can we change cell color programatically?
Hi all
I'm using Excel 2003.
Does Excel allow me to change the fill-color of a cell based upon the
contents of that cell?
For example: If the formula of a cell calculates its value to be less then,
say, 100, I'd like to fill-color that cell to Green. Otherwise I'd like to
color that cell with no color.
Is this possible?

Compressing sparse data
I have a bunch of rows that yield results in the last column that in
many cases are blank or zero. I would like to be able to view the
results of only those cells that are non-blank, and show them on
another worksheet page. Copying the whole column would of course keep
the data spread out over lots of rown. Is there a way to somehow
remove the blanks? I've tried thinking about a VLOOKUP for non-blank
data, but that still is row by row.

Please help finding my .xls files that have gone missing
Office97 - Excel97 - XP SP2
I did something to make my .xls files disappear.
They're all there.
I can see them with Explorer.
I can send them to work and they're okay there.
When I [now] try to open any .xls file I get "Windows cannot find
'C;\<path>\x.xls'. Make sure you typed etc...".
Last night all was well - then I must have done something to corrupt Excel
from starting up.
I had been working full-screen then not full-screen.
I had been toggling Options to for different effects.
One was "Ignore other apps..." so that I could have side-by-side/alt-tab
etc.
Did I blow away some "iny" file of some such?
Any ideas on what to look for?

Entering a date results in a decimal fraction
In a worksheet I created several years ago, when you key enter a date
in the format of m/d, m/d/yy, or m/d/yyyy the result is a formula of
=m/d (and likewise =m/d/yy, =m/d/yyyy) a calculation of a decimal
fraction and the display of January 0, 1900, since the cell is
formatted as a date.
Opening a blank spreadsheet under the same preferences, exhibits
normal behavior--that is treating the entry as a date and formatting
it as a date.
Likewise in this particular worksheet, entering 2+3 (without the
usually required equal sign) results in =2+3 and displays 5. Normal
behavior would display text 2+3.
I've looked at cell formatting, data validation, Tools>Options, etc.
without resolving this. The worksheet contains formatting, validation,
and VBA macros, but no attempt to change the.
I'd like to enter dates without the trouble of typing the formula
=Date(yyyy,mm,dd).
Actually it would be nice to know how turn this 'switch' on and off,
as I've always wondered why with all the 'features' in Excel it

Cant add a column
I have a spreadsheet that i am trying to add a column to and i get the
following message;
To prevent possible loss of data, Microsoft Office Excel cannot shift
nonblank cells off the worksheet.
Try to locate the last nonblank cell by pressing ctrl+end, and delete or
clear all in cells between the last cell and the end of your data. Then
select cell A1 and save your workbook to reset the last cell used.
Or, you can move the data to a new location and try again.
I have tried both and still get the same message.

calculating inflows in each month depending on different payment
Hi there,
I have the following problem. We're sealling 2 products, each has
different payment term and the payment term can change during the
year. It is pretty simple if payment term is an equivalent of 30 days
(if =30 then inflows are in the next month, if =90 then inflows are in
n+3 month and so on) The problem occurs when payment term is different
than equivalent of 30 days. We noticed that if payment term =7 days,
than 7/30=23% of inflows are in n+1 month and (30-7)/30=77% of inflows
are in n month (if payment term =14 then 14/30=47% is in n+1 month and
16/30=53% is in n month). The same is for payment term e.g. =40,
40=30+10 so 10/30=33% of inflows are in n+2 months and (30-10)/30=66%
of inflows are in n+1 month.

Some years ago I created an Excel file to store telephone numbers from my
mobile phone. This went missing and I lost all the numbers but thought my

Pivot Tables - File Capacity
I have a excel file a fairly large database in one sheet and another sheet
for pivot tables from that databse. once the pivot tables are loaded the
capacity jumps from a mere 175 or 200 kb to 9 or 10 mb. and gives me
difficulties in saving the file in network drives. how can i keep the file to
low capacity and also keep the pivot tables information. I refresh the Pivot
tables only once a week and the result stays as it is till the next week.

Removing blank rows
I noted a post in January where someone wanted to insert blank rows in
every other row of a worksheet
I've got the reverse issue.
A database created from a text input has a blank row from the original
double-spacing - but not every second row.
How do I remove blank rows in 50,000 lines of data?
I don't know whether he blank rows carry some baggage from the
conversion - was a copy out of a text file with space-separated values
and double CR between lines (rows).
This is for someone wanting a semiconductor data list that can
eventually be sorted by column values. Will work as is, but is twice
as big as needed.
When currently sorted, the blank rows are not shifted out of the
tables.

I have a street address in one cell and city/state/zip in another cell. I

Simple Logic question?
Using Excel 2003, I'm trying to build a formula that displays a symbol in a
cell to indicate the current date period.
There are four rows of data, each representing a calendar quarter Q1, Q2,
Q3, and Q4. Each row has a cell which indicates the last transaction date
for that period. In the Q1 row, that date is 03/31/08. In the Q2 row, that
date is 04/25/08 as that is the most current data set loaded. Q3 and Q4 date
cells are blank.
The first part of the formula needs to check if there is data by evaluating
if the date cell is blank. If it is blank, then the result should be a blank
(""). If not blank, proceed below.
The next part of the formula determines which quarter we are in based on
todays date.
In the Q1 row, if current month is equal to 1, 2, or 3, then display the
symbol.
In the Q2 row, if current month is equal to 4, 5, or 6, then display the
symbol.
In the Q3 row, if current month is equal to 7, 8, or 9, then display the
symbol.
In the Q4 row, if current month is equal to 10, 11, or 12, then display the
symbol.
The formula below (for Q1) does not work; it evaluates as volatile.
=IF($C43="","",IF(OR(MONTH(TODAY())=1,MONTH(TODAY())=2,MONTH(TODAY()=3)),"?",""))
$C43 is the last transaction date cell.
How should this formula be written?

remove leading zeros on a text field
I have an item number field which I use a formula to pull the last
segment of the item number field
( such as: WBN-2-FCCG-043-00000094 or WBN-2-IVSG-043-0001A-A )
the results would be a text field such as 00000094 or 0001A-A
or 0230-B

Why is 2007 so Damn Slow???
I recently upgraded from 2000 to 2007, and I notice a HUGE difference
in speed. 07 takes forever to load, but so did 00 if I had a very
large spreadsheet, but once it was loaded I could zip around very
quickly from page to page.
With 07, once it's loaded it can stall forever going from page to page
or even cell to cell. And to close it out takes forever as well.
Sometimes it will just close out in stages. Normally you might think
this is due to not enough ram, but I've got a gig of ram in my laptop
and I do diagnostic checks several times a week. It was never a
problem with 00.
Am I the only one experiencing this or is this a system wide problem? Tag: SP1 Tag: 141582

How to set this up for a chart?
We're comparing some new fixtures for our work vehicles to see how
many miles they will last. Each fixture has several components. When
we need to replace one, we record the odometer reading of the vehicle.
How would I set this up to have a comparison chart? Let's say four
vehicles. Each fixture was installed at a different odometer reading,
but that was the "zero" for that vehicle. I have the odometer at
replacement.
Maybe the bottom scale as a mileage value higher than my total miles
for any one vehicle, and the vertical scale as number of failures.
But what would be best to show that Item A on Vehicle 1 had five
failures at 100 miles, while Item B on Vehicle 2 had only one failure
at 75 miles and two at 130 miles? How do I set up the data for this?

Excel 2003 - VBA - Insert Row
Hi guys,
What I would like to do is insert a row in a table, then copy the previously
selected row and paste those formulas in the added row.
I have figured out how to find the entry point. From there I can add a blank
row.
My problem is how do I reselect the row with the data then select the blank
row to paste in the data.
This seems like it aught to be easy, but for the life of me, I cannot figure
it out.

Subtotals in Pivot Tables
I've got a spreadsheet with a number of columns and I could do with putting a
subtotal into a column in the middle of the data. Currently the columns are:
Charged - Location - Size - Item
Every line in my source data has a value in the Size column which is the
same for each Location so that if I delete a line I don't end up without a
Size for a Location.... but I want to be able to total the Size for each
Charged and currently all I can do is get it to count every Size for every
Item which gives me the wrong answer. So for instance if I've got data of:
Charged - Customer A
Location A Size 1.6 Item A
Location A Size 1.6 Item B
Location B Size 1.6 Item A
Location B Size 1.6 Item B
What I need to end up with is a Pivot that tells me that Customer A has a
Size of 3.2 (because Location A and Location B are both 1.6) but currently
all I can get is that there are 4 items and so the total is 6.4.

Excel pivot table grouping?
Hi -
I;'m wondering if someone could give me a recommendation on this. Can I
combine/pair/link two row labels together.
here is my example... I need to show both the acct# and acct. name in a
Pivot Table. Can I connect them somehow so they can display on the same row,
rather then having them show as a row and sub-row.
I've tried grouping - which doesn't seem to give me what I need. Any
suggestions or recommendations? I'm using Excel 2007.

windows installer
after having loaded an internet clean up prograham called regcure pc
optimizer by paretologic, when i try to open my excell a windows installer
error ocuurs sku1ca.cab as not being able to be found and directs me to
insert windows 2003 on my oem installed dell computer. any help suggestions
besides contacting regcure, who i really can not point to as the for sure
cause?????????
