Hi MVPs,

Is there a way to tell Entourage X not to save attachments in MUD? It
copies every single attachment I receive and I don´t want that.

Thanks,

AJ

1. Create a script and select the action to delete attachments. Run this
manually.

2. Get one of these scripts

!Claris It! v4 by Allen Watson

ge%20v%20X/>

Note: it's set for Allen's computer. You'll need to delete his folders. I
suggest creating a folder for Saved Attachments in your MUD folder and then
add this to the script

Friendlier Claris It! for Entourage X 1.5.5

<http://macscripter.net/scriptbuilders/category.php?search=claris+it>

Donationware | 6.4.02 | Script #782
Author: Rob Buckley  | Developer's Web Site
OSAXen Needed: ACME Script Widgets 3.0 or later
Requirements: Mac OS X 10.1 or later and Entourage X

This script is a simple utility for automatically sorting email received and
sent using Entourage X (Office X). It intelligently determines the sender or
the recipient(s) of the message and can then perform a variety of tasks.

Actually, that sounds backwards Diane.

It sounds as if eMacMan already has just such a script running and he wished
it would stop. Actually it's probably just a rule.

If you go to Tools/Rules/POP (or IMAP) you'll probably find a rule that runs
on Every Message, or maybe just <Attachment Exists> that is Saving
Attachments to MUD (without Removing Attachments at the same time, it seems:
you don't really need a script to do both of these). Just disable or delete
that rule, if so.

Guys,

What I meat was that Entourage X saves a copy of an attachment every
time I launch the file. It can be either a Word, Power Point , Excel or
a jpg file. The copy is saved in the Saved Attechments folder in MUD.
Is there a way to tell Entourage to delete those files whenever it is
closed, just like telling it to empty the deleted items folder?

That happens because you're double-clicking the attachment within the
message. The fact is that it has to save the attachment to disk _somewhere_
in order to open it as a file - that's a fact of life. I seem to recall
(vaguely, I might be wrong) that back in OS 9 (Entourage 2001) it did this
in the "Temporary Items" folder, and invisible folder on your hard disk
whose contents disappear when you shut down. Or maybe in Entourage Temp
folder, whose contents disappear when you quit Entourage - that's still the
location for attachments you transfer from one email to another (they too
need to be saved to disk for this to happen). It must have changed to Saved
Attachments with Entourage X, or SR-1, probably by popular request - it's
like a safety backup.

Just go through the folder periodically, and move all files to the Trash.
