 - Computer/event time zone mismatch after going to DST With the switch to Daylight Saving Time, I get a new error in Entourage 2004 warning me that the event and computer time zones do not match and that the Calendar display will be adjusted to reflect the event time in the computer time zone. The default time zone is Central Time, which I confirm for new events. Entourage is set to Central Time, as is OS X...OS X makes the distinction between Central Daylight Time (CDT) and Central Standard Time (CST) but Entourage does not.  - Can junk mail filter be edited? Having recently switched from Thunderbird to Entourage, one of the features I miss is the ability of Thunderbird to "learn" what is and isn't junk mail.  - Entourage error -17897 - Authentication failed because Entourage d Hi all, when I try to send a mail via the SMTP protocol I get the error message -17897 - Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods". The SMTP server requires encrypted connections via ssl and supports the authentification methods AUTH-PLAIN and AUTH-LOGIN, but not NTLM as obviously required by Entourage. Does anybody know which authentification methods are supported by Entourage 2004 and how I get Entourage working with a SMTP server only supporting AUTH-PLAIN and AUTH-LOGIN?  - Entourage on 2 computers can anyone tell me if its possible, with the new synching capabilities, to synchronise Entourage on both my laptop and my home computer. if i enter a diary entry when out during the day on my laptop i want it to be on my home computer when i get home. it seems a bit long-winded to try and get this to happen via a sync with ical??.  - Best way to view all emails from someone Every now and again, I get an email from a customer who's in my Address book, but it's been so long since the last time they wrote, that I don't remember who they are, and what the context was. What is the easiest method for viewing all the emails from that person? I am able to move messages successfully but attachments get converted to winmail.dat and I am not able to open the winmail.dat using TNEF's Enough utility.  - PocketPC sync deleted Calendar, Contacts, Tasks Hi all Today I synced my PocketPc with PowerbookG4 (10.4.5) after it had been hard reset. Using Pocketmac 3.4.4 Pro. The PocketPC syncs with Entourage (11.2.1), my Exchange account by default. I was rushing and consequently ended up with most (99%) of my contacts, calendar events and tasks deleted after the 2 sychronised. I logged into the Exchange server via WWW, all items are still on the server. What is the best way for me to restore these events etc from the Exchange server to my laptop? Can I create a new account for exchange in Entourage and will it import data or wipe it from server?  - Help: lost all data while syncing After doing a hard reset on my Treo, I ran a sync with my Mac to reinstall all programs and data.  - Entourage Spelling Pref I have an iMac running OS 10.4.5 and MS Office 2004 with Entourage 11.2.3. When I bring up the Entourage Preference panel and select Spelling, a page of options comes up with no options checked. If I check the box for Check spelling as you type (and/or any of the other options), then click OK I would expect the checked options to take effect. They don't. If I reopen the Preferences panel and click Spelling, it again brings of the page of unchecked options. None of the other General Preferences behave this way, i.e., once an option is checked, it stays checked. I tried quitting/reopening Entourage and I tried rebooting, all to no avail. Selecting Dictionary in the Entourage Tools menu indicates that the main dictionary was installed along with Office 2004. On my PowerMac G4, this problem does not exist, i.e., any spelling option change stays in effect. I exhausted the Entourage Help messages that were available, also to no avail. I have not tried to reinstall Entourage 2004, hoping that would be unnecessary. I would certainly appreciate any help in understanding and resolving this problem. Thank you.  - Font Size Change on Messages to PC I'm using Entourage version 11.2.3 and sending email via an Exchange server--recently, perhaps since the up-grade to Entourage or because of some change I made to the default settings (which ofcourse took place concurrently as I was exploring the new preferences for Spotlight, etc.), my messages--both responses and new messages--are displaying as 7 point type on PCs using Outlook (this varies depending on my setting, going from 12 pt (as sent on Mac) to 6 pt (as read on PC). For example, when I send myself a message, and open it in Outlook on the PC, my 12 point Garamond (or Arial)--both fonts installed by Office--is actually set to 6 point Garamond on the PC. I determine this setting both visually and by pressing the forward button, then selecting the font in the new message and seeing that the size is actually 6 point (not the 12 point of the original message). This same message read in Entourage from my Exchange account shows the font at the original size. Here's an excerpt from the source of a test message sent in 14 point Garamond--by the way when I set the font to a specific face the size choices are all in points as compared to small, medium, large that is also available. </HEAD> <BODY> Here’s a test me= ssage sent at 14 pt Garamond. I do prefer Entourage greatly; however, I would prefer that my email messages look better rather than worse. It's bad enough that I have not figured out how to set line spacing and indent from both sides for PC Office readers--as using Windows Word as an email editor does--but sending messages with unreadable fonts really is too much.  - Grabbing all email addresses About a year ago, (http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.mac.office.entourage/browse_frm/thread/7a1c3fec7bf9038e/71eb1db1f6714c3d#71eb1db1f6714c3d) Paul Berkowitz gave a great script here that allowed for highlighting a group of emails, then running the script where it would add all the email addresses into a TextEdit doc. Very handy. For some reason, I can't get it to work now. It gives a blank TextEdit doc. Also, in that same answer, Paul mentioned a "Add Group" button in the toolbar. It may be right in front of me, but I can't see that button in the toolbar, or the Menu. Did it go away in this last rev, or am I just temporarily blind to it.  - Spotlight sync slowing down the system in general?... In the couple of weeks since installing the recent Office update, I've noticed a lot of beachballing in Entourage and general system slowness affecting the responsiveness of all apps and the Finder. I've disabled Spotlight and found things to be much improved. Not sure if others have experienced the same thing, but my sense is that Spotlight seemed to be impacting the system in some unexpected way. Anyone else noticed this, or is just me? Thanx!  - Importing Entourage 2004 from one computer to another MS seems brain dead about this in their documentation. Moving from one computer to another. Both on LAN. Tried all the intuitive approaches, since there was no option in the assistant. Moved the whole Microsoft user data folder over, but cannot import the 2004 identity, only the X.  - Truth about Entourage and its Exchange support I hope this message doesnt make me sound very negative but after fighting for months with Entourage I have come to this conclusion... Entourage is not suitable replacement for a true native MAPI Outlook Client for Mac. I don't understand why MS just doesnt take the time and carbonize Outlook 2001 for OS X. Entourage's Exchange support sucks at best. The whole idea of WebDAV is just not suitable for this. Having to synchronize your mail to the Exchange server defeats the purpose of server based Email storage. Now you have to store your mail in two places. Outlook for Windows' MAPI support is much better at this. Not to mention the constant database corruption when using Entourage with networked home directories. We have several users who have daily issues with thier Entourage database for no apparent reason. They also have the size of the database just constantly grow to several gigs in size and only have maybe barely 100 megs worth of mail on the Exchange server. I have heard people say MS's stance on this is that they dont support network home directores. Thats a lame excuse for thier inability to fix the problems. Network home directories is a critical part of OS X in the enterprise (dont laugh) in which case if your needing Exchange support your probably on an enterprise network. If this is the case just discontinue the product. With all that Entourages Exchange support lacks such critical features as, out of office, being able to manage Exchange distribution lists etc... I am pretty sure nobody buys office just for Entourage, and with a non-functioning Exchange support, you may as well use Apple Mail or OWA which are both free just less functional. Hell OWA in Exchange 2003 isnt even as good on Mac browsers as it is on IE for Windows. With all the effort MS has put into stacking crap on top of crap with Entourages Exchange support they could have done a real Outlook client for OS X and have a client they could be proud to ship with Exchange Server.  - Accidentally deleted user data... trying to restore my mail, contacts, etc. I think I've accidentally deleted the user data that stores my e-mail folders, e-mails, contacts and whatnot in Entourage. (I was cleaning up the hard drive and must have thrown out the wrong thing). Now Entourage opens fine but acts as though it's the first time i've opened it and has no memory of me. I hit the "empty trash" button before i releazed the problem. So i have a disc recovery program which can look for items which have been deleted from the trash, but i'm not sure what files/folders to look for (or what file extension type). if i can find these files, does anybody have any experience about how to re-import the data and what' the likelihood is that it will work? thanks for any help any smart folks out there can offer!! -kristin Tag: subscribe to public folders?  - HexEdit on attachments I am having trouble sending attachments because they end up as HexEdit files and no one gets them. How does this happen and how can I change it is my question. I scan my attachments via Photoshop and they are pdf files. I don't know where HexEdit comes in or why. If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be terrific.  - So easy to connect to Exchange from Mail, so difficult from Entourge... Hi, For years I have used Mail.app to handle my email needs, including my Exchange email account at work. I may be forced to switch to Entourage because of a requirement that my calendar (presently iCal) be shared with my colleagues using Exchange (no choice on the matter). I don't mind switching my work email/calendering to Entourage, but first I need to connect! I use the same userID, email account, password and server I use in Mail, to no avail. I added the domain, which Mail does not seem to need, but this did not help. I've tried removing the @myworkaddress from the email address field, in case it was not needed. Nope. I replaced te Exchange server name by its IP, no success. I tried setting the option "This DAV service requires a secure connection", no luck. I did not override the default DAV port when I performed this last test as I did not know what to put there. I also tried using the WebOutlook URL we use when checking our email from outside, as the Edit Account dialog box says it can be used. My settings are right because on the same computer I can use Web Outlook with Safari. But not with Entourage. I cannot get help from the administrator as they are very unhappy that I use a Mac to start with and will provide no help. I checked on a PC at work, and to setup that PC to read my mail I only needed the information I tried with Entourage (userID, domain, server name). It worked. If anybody has a suggestion... Why is it that it is more complicated to connect to a Microsoft mail server using a Microsoft mail reader than with an Apple mail reader???  - Email list sorting How do I get Entourage to group by subject, but sort by the subject with the most recent message first? I've tried many combinations, but the all end up sorting all messages in either date order (losing the subject grouping) or A-Z (putting the most recent messages anywhere in the list).  - Command-N brings up "Custom Arrangements" ? This is a new one: I have one Entourage (Entourage 2004 11.2.3) window open, the "Mail =B7 Main Identity" which is the main window I work from. Normally, when I hit Command-N, a new email window comes up that allows me to send an email. This morning, when I hit Command-N, I now get a small 3x3" window called "Custom Arrangements: Mail". I've never seen this window before, or even know what a custom arrangement is. If I close all Entourage windows, and try again, same thing.  - New and Improved Error Messages Since updating to 11.2.3 and having Data Verification turned on I am periodically getting corrupt database errors all the time now. The message tells you to quit all MS apps and verify the data and every time the database is fine. I have my databases on remote drives aliased in and right after the last nerve shocking alert, spun off a backup to DVD after the only process left to me was rebuild with backup.  - Entourage Printing Problem (Want to get rid of Conversation Text) Hey fellas (and gals?), I have run into an interesting problem today while printing from Entourage (well it was pointed out to me...) Whenever I print an email, it always includes a "conversation" line, just under the Subject, To, etc., fields. Since the conversation line seems to simply mirror the subject line in most cases, I would like to omit that text from appearing in future printouts. It seems like a waste of space (and a minimal amount of ink.) :) Anyone know where the setting is to simply get rid of this item? Or a workaround? I'd be very interested to know how.  - Force Sync Entourage and iCal Hi..Help... I had sync services working fine the other day, where Entourage and iCal were in sync with fairly instant updating from either side. For some reason, it stopped happening. I turned off Sync Services for Calendar in Entourage prefs, deleted the "Entourage" calendar from iCal, and restarted Sync Services for Calendar in Entourage prefs. I checked Entourage updates Sync Services, closed prefs and then...nothing. My iCal doesn't seem to update with a new "Entourage" calendar. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to force synchronization manually? There doesn't seem to be much way for user intervention to happen. Can someone explain what the sync schedule is between Entourage and "The Truth"?  - Missing flippy triangles in Entourage folders list Hi there, I am hoping someone knows what do do about this-I'm rapidly giving up hope. If you use Entourage, and have nested folders for your messages, you know you open the folders using the flippy triangles, in the folders list view on the left. My triangles have disappeared. This is on a new (Apple refurbished) Powerbook--I used the target mode to transfer all my data from my other Powerbook, using Firewire cables (if you've done this you'll know what I mean).Everything seems to be just fine, except for this oddity with Entourage. So far I've: -Installed the latest Office update, rebooted. -Repaired permissions, rebooted. -Rebuilt the database. -Opened the window up wide, to see if I'm missing anything. -Throughly gone through Pref's, Help, etc. Again, I see my top level message folders lined up nicely, but there's no way to get to the sub-level message folders without the flippy triangles. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to try them!! Before I reinstall the whole Office package, I want to make sure I'm not missing something ridiculously simple.  - Wrong Calendar folder showing up in Outlook Web Access I'm trying to get my working calendar on our Exchange server to show up on Outlook Web Access. However, for some reason the only Calendar that shows up on the web is labeled "Calendar sm". I made that one some time ago, I think, but now I'd like to have OWA point to the same "Calendar" folder that shows up in Entourage 2004. Both are on the Exchange server. In other words, I have multiple calendar folders in Entourage but the wrong one shows up in OWA. How can I get OWA to use the correct one?  - Delegates not working properly Using Exchange Server 2003, I can share my Outlook calendar and contacts with another Outlook user, but if I log into Entourage with the Outlook user's name and password, I can't open the calendar or contacts (even though all the user's information shows up in Entourage). I am given an error about the user's mailbox not being found. This happens regardless of whether I select the user as a delegate in the Account Settings/Exchange/Delegates panel. Oddly, one Outlook user has successfully shared her calendar and contacts with an Entourage user. Any thoughts? Tag: subscribe to public folders? Tag: 65330

So I disabled syncing in Entourage, deleted the entry in iCal (and corresponding information as detailed in the Entourage MVP page). However, now I have 2 Entourage entries in iCal. Did I not delete things properly? Can someone shed some light on this? I¹ve also noticed iCal doesn¹t show Tasks/To-Do¹s properly. This isn¹t a huge deal, since I don¹t use iCal, but I¹m wondering if that is a signal that my Entourage data isn¹t syncing properly?  - Trouble Importing Data from X to 2004 I'm having trouble importing my information from X to 2004. Upon opening 2004, I get the import assistant. 1st screen: I selected importing info from Entourage X 2nd screen: I selected all options 3rd screen: (here's where the fun begins) It fails to automatically find an Identity and asks me to do it (note to MS, you might want to give us "unwashed masses" a clue about what it is we're looking for!). Anyway, I select the browse button, went to the user folder > documents > MS User Data > Office X Idenities > my folder. In there are the database cache, mailing lists, old database, old database cache, rules, and signatures, ALL grayed out. I went other places, but everywhere I looked was grayed out.  - PLEASE help me- corrupt databases and multiple messages! some weird issues with entourage- often when i try to look at the sent mail, i get an error message that says the database has been corrupted. But sometimes it works. also, although i have only one email account feeding into entourage, i often get 3-5 copies of the same email. Anyone have any insight? it have Entourage 11.2.3 running in exchange mode. i can see the files in my
top level of public folders and see the sub-directories but not any of the
files in the sub-directories.
read some articles about needing to subscribe but i can not find the
subscribe button. HELP!!!!!

If you click on the "Public Folders" icon in the Folder List, and then make
sure the toolbar is turned on (View > Toolbars), you should see the
"Subscribe" button available on the toolbar. You can then subscribe to
various Public Folders.

If that doesn't work, try using the "Add to Favorites" button in the "Edit
menu".

Once you're subscribed, click the Public Folder in the Folder List, and see
if you can access the file.
