 - Migrating from Outlook 2003 to Entourage X Can it be done? Migrating the e-mail folders seems relatively straightforward, but there doesn't seem to be a method or a tool that will migrate ALL the Outlook PST data to Entourage (such as Tasks). Tag: No sent items in sent folder Tag: 33132

 - Entourage X Greetings...a minor problem with Entourage X. Running Panther 10.3.2=20 and Entourage 10.1.4. Every once in a while all my choices in the upper = left icon windows (mail, calendar, notes, address book etc.) go black as = the cursor goes over them. Entourage then stops working and I will get=20 either a blank message window or an error -192 window. When I force=20 quit and reopen, it's usually OK. I have performed both typical and advanced rebuild with notifications=20 off. I have repaired disk permissions with Disk Utility and completely=20 defragmented with Tech Tool Pro 4. And, it still happens. I think I may be facing a reinstall of Entourage. Also, I have an iBook = running same system and no problem there so I do not think it's related=20 to Panther.  - HELP! Entourage X lost database Hi: I've got a weird & strange Entourage (with all the updates) problem that I need help with. I was doing some audio recording with Wiretap and my computer (OS X 10.3.2; G4/867; 768 MB RAM) crashed, hard; when I came back from doing something else, the screen wouldn't come back up, and the same half-second audio snippet was repeating over and over again. So I reset and reboot. No problem. Well, when I launched Entourage, suddenly it only saw e-mail as of 1/10, which may have been the last time I did a backup. The last modified date on my Database file was 1/10. Oops, I thought. So I ran Diskwarrior. After it completed, when I went into the Microsoft User Identity folder, the last modified date of the Database was still 1/10. I thought "oh well." So I launched Entourage, and lo and behold, it had every e-mail, up to that afternoon. Yippee! But as I kept deleting e-mails, doing other things to change the databse, and quitting Entourage and relaunching it, the modified date on the Database file didn't change. The last modified date stayed 1/10. Odd, I thought. So, I decided to quit Entourage and rebuild the Database, because I thought I had all my e-mail, this weirdness was concerning me, and I thought that might fix things. After I rebuilt, I was again back to everything only from 1/10 -- and the last modified date of the Database was being updated again. What the dickens is going on? I assume that Entourage was working off some other Database file somewhere on my disk, but I can't find it anywhere. Any idea where I should look or what it might be called? I did a search for "Database"; nothing was the up-to-date file. So I'm sort of lost. The fact that this Database file wasn't erased over restarts gives me hope that it's not lost for good.  - Two message lines in in-box For every message received, we get two complete and identical lines in our in-box. Each highlights and selects independently to an identical message.  - internet connect DSL Frequently when checking email, entourage goes into dial-up mode rather than DSL, followed by the pop-up message of "unable to connect to the internet as you failed to put in a telephone number."  - Memory allocation 9.2 OS and MAC: Office 2001.... lots of memory. Added another name and information in my Entourage address book along with a picture of the person; it will not take all the the information. Says not enough memory. Allocated 5K more and did't help. Did a rebuild. Didn't help. Can't close the "name and address card" that I just filled out, there is a "ding" sound and a box appears that says I haven't enough memory. What else can I do? Thank you.  - Entourage Database Problem When opening Entourage today, it appears that I have lost everything (e.g., account, mail, address book, etc.) and has been reset to a brand new install (Mac Team welcome note). I used it just a few hours before with no problems. I checked the database size (13MB) which leads me to believe that the data is still there.  - MVPs - someone could try this experimental solution? I had an idea as I was answering someone's post here in the Entourage group. I thought I would post it here to see if anyone might have the time and resources to try this. The original poster was looking for a solution to the compatibility issues between the new Palm T3 and Entourage conduit. To conserve on my typing I'll just past my answer/possible solution again below: As I have read here on the newsgroups, and also as seen here: <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/palm.html> The problem is not limited to just the T3, but an device running the new Palm OS with the new Palm OS applications. So if you were to purchase any truly *new* Palm device, you will have the same problem. A way around this I would think would be to get your hands on the old Palm applications (i.e. The Datebook, Address Book, To-Do, and Memo apps) and install them on your new Palm and use those until new conduits are written. Keep in mind this solution would only work with Entourage, unless you were to get your hands on all the old conduits as well. (maybe someone else reading this who has the hardware and software and time to try this might let us know?) Of course the main drawback would be that these apps would reside in your usable memory, but a small price to pay... I really have no idea if this would work, but it seems to me it should. The new Palm OS is supposed to run all the old apps, and some of the new Palms when they first came out with the new OS had the old OS apps included. Personally, since I have a m515, I will continue to use that until I know the new ones are fully compatible. If it works, it would be some valuable information to add to the MVP help page.  - Insertion of animated clip art in Entourage Situation: I teach college classes on-line. Heretofore, I have used a PC with Outlook Express. It was simple to go to the web and pick up animated clip art to insert in the lecture message. However, with the Mac OS X, I can bring in the art and insert into the email text, but it will not animate, only the 1st frame shows. Also, there is no control over the size of the art object. With the PC, one could right click and get the "flashing box" around the object and use the arrow / crosshairs to increase or decrease the image. Is this not possible with Entourage?  - Entourage emailing Help!! I am a new Mac swwitching user and have a serious problem with=20 Entourage. Every email address I type in the send to box gets "25/" added to the=20 beginning of the email address after I hit the send now button. Of=20 course the email gets returned by the email administrator with an error=20 message that says the email address can not be recognized. = =20 What am I doing wrong?  - Authentication Error 5531 I'm running Entourage X (v10.5.1) on an Apple iBook (OS 10.2.8) and I cannot send email through my secure SMTP using password authentication. I receive the following error message: "The SMTP server for "User" does not recognize any of the authentication methods supported by Entourage.  - Strange "to" addresses in email I'm receiving... Hi! My email address is diane@thecontractorsgroup.com.  - Entourage X (testdirve or regular version) Newsgroup Question Is there a way - in newsgroups - to download entire messages instead of just headers so you can disconnect from the internet and still view the message bodies when you click on the header? As of now, I can only download the headers and when I click on it, Entourage connects to retrieve the body. I have tried to adjust settings in the rules to download the entire message but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Are you aware if this feature is disabled in the test version?  - Anyone experiencing server overload when using Entourage to get Hi, For the last two days I've been trying to use Entourage as usual, and keep getting this problem: An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic. Error: -3259 However, I've also got my Yahoo mail account rigged to check my Mac.com account, and it works just fine. All this down load this conduit for Palm, or exporting to iAddress in Apple is rubbish.  - HELP! Rebuild won't fix "Could not open that feature" Mail Error! I'm using Entourage 10.1.4 under Mac OS 10.3.2, and yesterday I tried to open one of my subfolders and got the "Could not open that feature. Mail error." message. After searching this newsgroup I took the advice of posters and rebuilt the database by holding down the option key upon launch. A typical rebuild failed, and Entourage asked me if I wanted to perform an advanced rebuild. I chose yes, but the problem still remains. I went through the rebuild process 5 times. This subfolder is the location of mail from a particular sender (automatically placed in there with a rule) and there are messages I need that I cannot access. Once I get the "Could not open" message I'm stuck; clicking OK just brings the same error message again and again. Force quit is my only option. Does anyone have any other advice? My mail is set up with a POP account, so the messages are deleted from the server when I download them. I cannot access those lost messages from another computer or web-based email. Ich hope some of you will have an idea to the following problem: If I open a mail message which was created with a Windows Computer my Entourage and the system completly hang up. Nothing works afterwards. I had the same problem with Outlook Express. So I switched to Entourage but it did not help. Even if I create a new user profile. If I create a new user it works until the first reboot. It is quite an interesting problem but it is not real fun to reboot the computer every 15 minutes. I hope some of you can help me.  - Contact Categories and Multi day Event Syncing I am using Entourage 10.1.4, Panther 10.3.2, and syncing to a Palm T2 with 5.2.1 on the handheld. I have undated the current Handheld Sync software for Entourage. I moved from Palm Desktop to Entourage and after a few database corruption problems I am not able sync the Address book categories with the Palm handheld categories. What needs to happen to get the categories on the Entourage to sync with the handheld? I only have eight categories in Entourage. Also, when I create a multiday event in the calendar using the standard date start and end fields and not the repeating event options it shows up fine as a banner event on the Entourage calendar but only shows up as a single event on the handheld...  - Entourage v. X and Hotmail always too slow Hello, I have a PC and a MAC on my home network. I've been a loyal Hotmail user for years, but may dump it completely. On a PC with Outlook Express Hotmail is very fast..on a Mac with Office v.X Entourage it is incredibly frustrating. It seems like it takes forever..60 seconds or more to even show your list of new mail (you may even need to click send/receive or switch folders in hotmail to make it update itself). Keep in mind that I have a *very* fast cable modem connection. Outlook Express has always been fast on the PC and I don't know why Microsoft can't do the same for the Mac with Entourage, or at least make an OS X native version of Outlook Express. I've had Hotmail for years, but if a brand new Mac with Office v.X is incredibly slower than a 4 1/2 year old PC with Outlook Express, I'm going to cancel my Hotmail and switch to Apple's MAIL program and use my local POP mail. I appreciate your patience with my rant. It's just been driving my wife and I crazy and I wish there was a resolution. Does anybody have any ideas?  - Entourage to Exchange 2000 IMAP problems I have configured Entourage to connect to Exchange. 1) I can read my email and open local folders on my exchange account. 2) I can see and open all the public folders that we used to store email messages 3) I CANNOT move email messages from my inbox to public folders (error 1025) 4) I can move email messages between public folders 5) I can move email messages between my own email folders 6) I CANNOT delete messages in public folders (again error 1025) 7) I can delete messages on my own folders We are running small biz server 2000 with the latest patch levels. There is no other server configured in our network so I am very confused about the message that entourage is generating "there is no replica for that mailbox in this server" I have turned on IMAP, I have WEBDAV on, and can use OWA to access email. I have tried to change the permissions on the public folders to specifically give my user Author level ownership but this has not made a difference.  - Entourage and Palm Pilot HotSync Tungsten T3 I had read many people saying it didn't work, but thanks to Scott's confidence I have just installed the conduit (after getting rid of a whole lot of unnecessary conduits in the Library:Palm HotSync:Conduits folder (these I dragged to the "Disabled Conduits" Folder. These included: Address Conduit, Calendar Conduit, Contacts Conduit, Datebook Conduit, Memo Conduit, Memos Conduit,Note Pad Conduit, Tasks Conduit, ToDo Conduit). I replaced all of these with the Microsoft (Entourage) Conduit.  - Entourage Craziness Thank you for your time. I recently encoutered a major problem with Entourage. I am running v10.1.4 on an Apple PowerBook G4 which is running OS 10.3. I have been using this program for probably a year. My problem is that everytime I open Entourage I get an error: "The Action Could Not be Completed, Mail Error". Then I click OK and it goes away. However, I cannot use any of the menus, the mail comes up but cannot be viewed in the preview window. I can only make commands via my right-click mouse or keyboard commands. This initially happened, it seems through some mail in the "Draft" box. Even now when I want to send stuff, it won't let me. It will let me save, then I go to Draft, right click to send, then it gives me the "The Action Could Not be Completed, Mail Error" error, will send the message, but then quits. The Draft box looks different now - it is blue and even if I click into the box window itself, this is enough to crash the program. I would be perfectly happy to just trash the whole Office X folder, except I don't want to lose my mail folders and my calendar. It seems to be possibly to export Contacts, but not much else. Grateful for any suggestions whether to fix problem or figure out how to keep my information if I junk the program. I did already reinstall it, but it kept my files and the problem didn't go away. She wants to: delete every message that is a reply. She wants to not use a signature for a certain group of people. Is there any way to implement these with scripts?  - Synchronization Error Does anyone know how I get rid of a sychronization error with an Exchange server? I have one event (Halloween) that is causing a synchronization error every 5 min. I have even tried deleting the event from a real Exchange client and I still can't get rid of the message.  - Entourage Quitting Hi, I am running entourage in OS 10.2. I received an e-mail that had a PDF attachment. Every time I highlight the e-mail, I get the "Entourage quit unexpectedly" message. The same e-mail was sent to a co-worker who is also running Entourage in OS 10 and the same thing happened to him. The same e-mail was sent to another co-worker who is running entourage in OS 9 and she had no problems. I have never encountered anything like this.  - Conduit crashes during MemoPad I use Entouage X (10.1.4) on my mac and sync with the Palm via MS Sync conduit which worked great for a while - then it stopped. First on my PBG4 (OS X 10.2.8) and now on an iMAC (OS X 10.2.8). Sync Manager quits (ie unexpectically crashes) when the two try to sync the Memo pad (palm) with Notes (Entourage). I had only 4 notes in Entourage with about 600-800 characters in each . On the powerbook I when I try to open the coduit in Sync Manager that causes a crash. Hello.

I'm using my .mac account with Entourage, and it's proving quite a challenge
to set up. I've figured out how to send messages finally, using the
'require authentication' option in account setup. I'm using smtp.mac.com as
my outgoing. But now I'll send a message and it won't appear in the outbox.
Why? What can I do to fix this?

By Outbox I think you mean Sent Items (per your subject line).

Go to Tools > Accounts and edit your .Mac account.

Go to the Advanced tab and check your "Store sent messages in this
IMAP folder" setting. By unchecking this box, sent messages will
appear in your Entourage Sent Items folder. If you check this box and
configure it properly, sent messages will be stored on the .Mac server.
