 - Importing messages from Outlook 2003 to Entourage Can anyone please tell me how to move my email messages from Outlook 2003 to Entourage. I just purchased my new Macbook (w / Core2Duo). Here is what the Apple Help Desk said, but it doesn't work. I have archived all my Outlook 2003 email to .pst files. I have moved them to an external drive. The external drive (via USB) is readable by my Mac. Apple Help said that i was going to just be able to 'read them or move them' into an Entourage folder....hogwash...unless I'm doing something wrong. Pls advise. FYI....if Steve J wants to help 'conversions' from the 'dark side' this very, very basic stuff should be clear / simple and known by all Apple HELP desk folks. I had to talk to 3 of them before I found someone who even knew what a .pst file was.....duuuuuuuuuuh. Sorry for the cynical comments. I just thought this would be a whole lot simpler than its turning out to be.  - View options in Address Book & Tasks I'm one of the ex-Outlook users who really misses the Address Card view, with the alphabetical tabs to find contacts or tasks. If we can't have this, what about the facility to View by Group, just like you have for mail messages, and group by (for address book) alphabet letter, category, and (for tasks) by category, due date, status. By the way, the 'status' in Tasks is really useful and having a Project Centre isn't a replacement. I used the Task Status to drive all sorts of things.  - Entourage won't save Passwords... Keychain interaction? Hi, I recently added a new account, and was advised that the sending and receiving mail servers needed to be different - however when I tried to configure the new account, I discovered that the passwords had either been changed for existing accounts, and when I then tried to re-enter passwords, nothing would be saved in any of the accounts, even when 'save password' option is checked... I think there may be a problem with the interaction with Keychain Access - but I've tried deleting Keychains etc - quitting and restarting Entourage - however every time I restart Entourage, it asks for every password for each account again - which is obviously a big time-waster... Does any1 have any ideas about the interaction between Passwords & Keychains, or do I need to re-install Entourage to get things working again?  - Entourage won't quit I am having trouble with Entourage (Office 2004) on my new MacBook. Each time I go to quit the program I have to end up doing a force quit. Another issue is that when this application is open the fan runs at high speed all the time. I have updated everything there is to update. Is anyone else having the same problem?  - Remembering window positions Entourage 2004 does not retain the window position when opening email messages or replying to messages. They always appear at the top left side of the screen. For those with bifocals, this is a big inconvenience to drag each message to the bottom of their screen. Is it possible for Entourage to retain window locations?  - Entourage - View pane generates corrupt database error when certain message comes into view. In my inbox, I have an older e-mail, from May. In the viewing pane, as soon as I scroll down to this message, an error pops up saying my database may be corrupt. I have verified, and everything is fine. For kicks, I have even repaired a couple of times. And it successfully completes this task. However, WHENEVER I get to that message in the viewing pane, the error pops up. I can click Cancel and scroll away, and it will be fine. If I stay there, it will pop up a few moments later, ad nauseum. So how can I get rid of this message? I can't select it because that corrupt database error pops up. Also, the message is partially grayed out, just the top horizontal half.  - Empty Deleted Items Folder, scheduled run does not delete the items I have my schedule set to ON QUIT for the Empty Delelted Items Folder and it does not perform the function on quit.  - How can I copy message attachment history? I'm using the latest available version of Entourage as an Exchange email client. I can remove attachments to messages received through the Exchange account by copying the message to a local mail folder, then editing, then copying the message back to an Exchange account folder.  - Folder List View not remembered When I first used Entourage, after a restart it would always come back to the same screen layout that I had been using before. But for a long time now, I have to re-select Folders List in the View menu each time I start Entourage. I've tried trashing the preference file, and repairing permissions.  - Public calendars Our Exchange server publishes calendars as http://server/user/Calendar/. When I go for File -> Open Other User's Folder and select the calendar for the user's username, Entourage tells me that it could not find the folder for the user (giving the user's full name, presumably from the GAL). Is there some magic needed to browse another person's public calendar? I can browse to public folders and look at calendars like that, but I read the latest SP release note as offering the equivalent of adding another calendar in Outlook (without side-by-side display).  - OWA session times out The Mac users (10.4.x) here making connections to OWA (Exchange 2003) with either Safari or FireFox, get their session 'timed-out' after about 10 minutes of idle time. Forcing them to re-authenticate. The server does have an idle time out setting applied, but it's much, much higher than that. The PC clients can hang out idle, up to the server specified time out setting. This is repeatable on many machines with various versions of Tiger. What's going on?  - Email Message aren't viewable I have created html formatted emails in asp.net that get sent out using Smtpmail.Send. It creates a two part mime email message that the body of the email does NOT viewable in Entourage. If you look at the source it is there, but it does not show. When looking at the source of the email. My opinion is that because it starts off with Content-Type: text/plain; then switches it to Content-Type: text/html; that this 2 part message confuses Entourage.  - Moving Entourage's Spotlight metadata I'd like to home Entourage's Spotlight metadata on an encrypted volume, but I would prefer not to use FileVault since it'll slow down every disk access in my home directory (and indeed it does). I've tried creating a symbolic link in ~/Library/Caches/Metadata called Microsoft that points to /Volumes/myvolume/Metadata and after switching on Spotlight searching, I do get to search my Entourage messages, etc. The problem is that with this setup, Entourage never adds to the cache. If I rebuilt the cache, nothing happens (that is, the old cache is not deleted). If I symlink ~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Microsoft/Entourage/2004/Main\ Identity to a directory on my encrypted volume and then rebuild, Entourage renames "Main Identity" to ".-Main Identity" and rebuilds a new cache in my home directory in the usual place. Is there a workaround (reading the sent email with another program is not an acceptable workaround) so the sent message can be properly read in Entourage?? The problem I have is that when I attach a .jpeg or a pdf file to a message the recipient receives the message but the attachment is just a mess of code and the accompanying error says 'This message is in MIME format.  - Downloading All Messages Hi I use an Exchange Server for my job here at Indiana University. My problem is this. On my windows based computer and actually every windows based computer I have ever set outlook up on, when I first check it, it downloads every e-mail I have ever sent. I love that, it is great and very useful. I have done this on many computers. The first time I set up outlook on a new workstation and put my info in it takes 10 min on the first check to download all of my old messages and from then on it works fast. Now here is my problem. I have just gotten a mac. I used entourage for a little bit but it was very unstable. Everytime I would write an e-mail it would crash. So now I use the Mail program that comes with Mac Os x. My issue is on both of these programs it will only download new messages. So basically I check my e-mail, on my mac, poof something is there. I read it, when I go home and update my windows based pc by checking my e-mail i get that same message but it indicates it has been read by not bolding it. I go back to my Mac computer...Check it, That e-mail is gone. For me it is very benefical to have all of my e-mail on my macbook, yet I have not found a way to download all of the messages.  - Entourage- not responding It was working fine... then decided to not respond. No messages or prompts at all... just keeps the rainbow disc twirling. I've verified the database and there is no corruption. I've also compact and back up the current database files. Im not sure what else I can do... it is not responding to anything. Is there anyway to also remove from Network at the same time. Having it in the delete folder is good because then I just highlight all and remove manually but if it can be done automatically I wouldn¹t have to do it when I get to work AGAIN.  - Won't download email Hi, I have had Entourage for a couple of years and it has recently decided that it doesn't recognize that I am hooked up to the internet and won't download email. I get the following message: Entourage cannot connect to the server. Verify that your computer is connected to the network. My Mac is always connected to the internet via a cable connection. I have checked my preferences and all settings I can think of. Does anyone here have any recommendation as to how to fix this annoying problem? Thank you!  - How Can I sync between Outlook and Entourage Hello, My company uses Microsoft Exchange server to handle all of our email. I use Outlook at work, and I set up Entourage at home just so I can work at home sometimes. Basically, I want my info to stay on the server, so when I check at work, I get everything, and when I come home, I get everything again. I want my calendars synced up too. I asked IT, but they said since my Mac at home wasn't company property, they won't support it. So I'm wondering, is this something I can do, or do they have to turn the right switches on their end? I am looking for a way to save Entourage 2004 e-mails (all pieces of
the e-mail: the e-mail itself and attachments, if there are any) in
MIME format. Is there a converting tool or a generic way to accomplish
this? (Reason for why I need this: I'm using a deliverability
monitoring service which allows to test the deliverability of all sorts
of e-mails, for example standard sales offer e-mails and e-mail order
confirmations. For using this service, I need to upload the e-mail I
want to test in MIME format.)

If you simply drag an email to the desktop, it will form an .eml file - this
is the raw source of the email, including encoded attachments. This will be
in RFC822/MIME format
