 - Entourage 2004 does not always receive all email from EX2003 Entourage 2004 (11.3.6) on Intel or PPC does not always receive all email from EX2003 server....We access the exchaneg server via the owa webmail and from time to time, not all email is delivered to Entourage although it still exists/shows on the OWA server as not read (but it is corrupt and cannot be read)...  - Archiving Older Emails Hi again, I recently posted a reply to the "Unofficial Poll on Database Size" wherein I mentioned my database is at 7.89 GB. How can I archive this information so that I may put the older stuff on to a CD? I'm using Tiger 10.4.10 with Office 11.3.6. I spent days pulling all these former Outlook 2003 messages into Entourage and I don't want to lose them. At least then I have a backup to access as required.  - How to restore downloaded messages back on the server? Hi, this morning when I opened Entourage my account was gone for some mysterious reason and I had to set up the account again from scratch. I mistakenly chose POP instead of IMAP as incoming server, and then all my 1500+ email messages were downloaded from the server without leaving any copy there. In other words, my inbox at the server is now empty and I can only access all my messages from this particular computer. This is not what I meant to do! I need to be able to access my messages from other computers as well, and so IMAP was the thing I meant to choose when I accidetally set it up for POP. Hence my question: how can I restore all the messages that now exist solely in my Entourage inbox to the server? (I tried to check the POP "leave copy on server" option in the options, but it didn't do any good as the messages are already downloaded. I am sure it will work for future messages, but what I need is to restore the old ones.) I tried to create a new IMAP account and that worked well, but obviously there are no messages on the server anylonger that it can receive... Help appreciated!  - Entourage Deleting I noticed in Entourage that when you delete a message instead of moving to the message below it, the program moves to the message above it.  - Entourage 2004 troubles in junk mail filter and date view Dear Microsoft Office Developers and Users, The Entourage 2004 is a really great tool in managing mails, notes, tasks, and other business information. Everything went smoothly until recently I explored and utilised more functions of it. I am stuck with some troubles that I do not know whether they are bugs or my mistakes. About 2 weeks ago, I rearranged e-mails in my Entourage into different projects and categories. It was very nice at the time the change to view mails, notes, or tasks separately in projects/categories by tabs 'Mail' or 'Project Center'. It was also convenient to sort/group emails by date, subject, priority... However, after my arrangement, the 'Junk e-mail filter" does not work well: many spam mails are not detected automatically as before and I have to select them and move them to 'Junk mail' folder manually. The date showed in 'Project Center' => 'Project Center' or in 'Mail' => "Mail Views' is not shown as dd/mm/yy but weekday hh:mm AM/PM instead. I have spent hours to check all settings of my Entourage, from "Preferences", commands and options in "File", 'Edit, 'View', 'Message', 'Format', 'Tools', and 'Help' several times but found no helpful results. I would like you to give me your advices or to correct this bug if there is. My computer is a MacBook OS X 10.4.9 Intel Core 2 Duo.  - News group problem Have an odd error ... I'm connecting to a news server (verizon) and having trouble viewing all the newsgroups. The indication is that only 2,367 groups exist. I've gone back and forth with support and they swear it isn't them. I tried the same settings on a windows box (Outlook Express) and I see many thousand newsgroups (50K+). Maybe they are right. Is there some setting within Entourage that I'm neglecting? Why would the number of groups be limited (note I do see the microsoft groups) Thanks, in advance, for your help. p.s.  - Not able to view other users availablity data while sending a meeting request..is that by default? Hi, The client is Entourage 2004 and server is ex2k3. After adding the / public to the public folder server option I am able to view my free/ busy information, but when I try to view others availablity it displayed grey "no information". Is that by default, do I have change some setting on exchange server. If this option is available in entourage what are the steps I need to take to enable it for my clients. If not why so?  - Trouble with Entourage and Exchange 2007 I am trying to get some of my staff's Entourage to sync with Exchange 2007. I can get it to send out email fine, however, I am having a problem when I try to receive. We are using IMAP b/c my hosting company informed me Entourage 04 will not work with rpc over http or mapi. I have my IMAP server inputted with correct username and password, Using IMAP port 143. However, when Entourage tries to connect we receive the following error: "Command received in invalid state" I'm not sure where I am going wrong.  - Newsletter header does not appear I receive a weekly newsletter from the city telling me about events and things of interest to small businesses. I noticed that entourage seems to be the only mail program I have that when opening the mail shows only the text and just some odd symbols at the top. In "MAIL" on my mac I see the newletter as it should be, with pictures and a nice newsletter format. This also shows up correctly on the PC we use in our shipping department which has "Outlook Express". I am not sure what setting may be incorrect with my Entourage program.  - Entourage no longer connects to exchnage I have been using Entourage (office 2004 latest sp etc) with a hosted exchange for a while and have had not many problems. Then all of sudden info in entourage was no longer being updated when info was entered through outlook web access. I can send but can't recieve any mail, get contact or calendar updates etc. I tried creating a new identity account etc but no luck. When I started from scratch I would get no error messages but none of my folders would populate and no emails or contacts would come in. Strangely though, if I go to Folder Properties on the mailbox under storage it can see all of my sub folders with messages etc. Very weird. I even had the hosted exchange sign in as me on a fresh entourage profile and they had no problem getting anything in. The only other strange thing is that when I close entourage it does not fully close. I ahve to do a force quit. I currently access my account via outlook web access as well as through outlook using parallels on the same pc so I doubt its a fire wall issue. Any thoughts?  - Ditto I have the same problem. I change to view via "sent" in my inbox. It shows the date received but not the time sent from sender. I am using Entourage 2004 (latest build). However, when you open each email, it shows the time sent in the individual email. It would be nice to see in preview the date/time SENT vs. the date/time RECEIVED.  - Entourage Tasks Don't Appear in iCal To Do List My Entourage Tasks don't display in my iCal To Do list (I have Sync Services for Events and Tasks turned on). However, they "are there" in iCal ... iCal will send me notifications of the To Do if I've set an alarm for the event. If I use the search in iCal, I can find the To Do in the search results. If I just make a change to the iCal To Do List view (like turn on "Hide Items Outside the Calendar View"), they will "magically" appear, but then on quitting and restarting the application, they are going again.  - HTML Links in Messages and Names Hi there, I'm not really sure how you reference this. I have a contact who sends me links in messages like this, "http://www.abc1234.com" "<http://www.abc1234.com>". Problem is that Entourage won't open the link in Safari. I get this error message, " Part of your link is missing. Please try copy and paste the entire URL from your email to your browser and try again.". I can copy and paste the first portion into Safari and then it opens OK. However, is there a way to prevent the <> portion from appearing at all? Similarly, is there a way to prevent the <> information (e-mail address) from showing in outgoing e-mail messages? I'd prefer only the contact's name to show up, not the contact name followed by <someone@thisplace.net>. Any advice and guidance much appreciated. Thanks so much! First, details on my setup. TiBook 1GHz G4, 1GB RAM, OS10.4.10, Entourage 11.3.3; wireless LAN into 1.5MB/750kB DSL internet connection; connect to corporate Exchange server via VPN. I have been using this configuration for over a year with sporadic results. VPN connection is fine, can browse Internet through remote corporate server, access remote personal SMTP email server via smtpauth, no worries. Exchange is a different issue. Often I start Exchange with the VPN active, upon opening the words "Not Connected" appear next to the icon for the main inbox. In a couple of seconds, those words always disappear. Sometimes I immediately get the "activity bar" in the lower right corner of the main window with words describing which folders (Inbox, Calendar, etc.) are being updated. That indicates I'm actually interacting with the Exchange server, and all is fine. Sometimes I get "Send and Receive All" will run in __ minutes" and I cannot interact with the Exchange server. When interaction with the server happens, it is maintained until I close Entourage or the VPN connection. When I get the "...will run in..." message, interaction with the server never happens. The only way I can gain interaction with the Exchange server is to shut Entourage, close the VPN, reestablish the VPN and open Exchange. Sometimes, doing this once gains interaction with the Exchange server. Sometimes changing to one of my alternate VPN server addresses (in different parts of the world) finally gains me interaction with the Exchange server. Sometimes I have to reboot the laptop in order to interact with the Exchange server. My Exchange account resides on a server at our company's San Diego office. We have VPN access to servers in Ottawa, Boston, Hong Kong, and London. My location in the world seems to have little to do with which VPN access point gives me interaction with the Exchange server. I've also tried not using the VPN and going in through the Webmail address. That approach has the same sporadic results - gain interaction with the server sometimes, not other times. I've got to believe this has something to do with how Entourage and Exchange interact, or something to do with latency in the internet connection. (I've seen serious latency sensitivities cause crashes in Outlook on Windows XP, it happens to me on the same company's Exchange servers very frequently.)  - Error Messages Error messages keep popping up that say that mail could not be sent from my account and the explanation is either syntax error #5501 or the mailbox is temporarily full error #5552 or a connection failure has occurred.  - Shaking I am running Entourage 11.3.6 on a Mac with System 10.4.10. Everything has been running great for the last few years. I have updated Entourage and my Mac System regularly. This past week my computer screen started shaking violently and the speakers started to emit a sound like a fog horn. I tried to quit Entourage and the menus open but clicking on quit or close does not work. If I go to force quit under the Apple it closes every program I have open, not just Entourage. I am also running Firefox 2.0.0.5 which did have a shaking problem, according to the Mozilla Website, in previous versions, but not 2.0.0.5. That problem had to do with empty Bookmark toolbars, which I never had. Always had plenty of bookmarks in my toolbars. My shaking and sound problems always starts in Entourage and not in Firefox. The only change I can think of is that I was using a hard wired ethernet - modem - router connection until 2 weeks ago. Now I am running Airport Extreme connected to my Router and Modem. Could the wireless connection instead of the hard wired connection be causing this or does anybody else have a thought? My computer monitor is 23 inch Apple Cinema Display which is working just fine. It is not a screen flicker but a complete takeover of the computer by the shaking. I ran Tech Tool Pro and all tests passed. Any thoughts would be appreciated.  - Entourage suddenly cannot send to imap server I've been using an IMAP server to send and receive email for some time now. Suddenly, I can receive but not send. I'm blaming the last Entourage update, as I've rechecked all the settings and they do appear to be correct. I can send to a POP account without a problem, and another email program (Apple Mail) can send to the IMAP server without any problem. Any suggestions? Can I remove the last Entourage update? How? I'm new to entourage (coming from outlook) and have my signature but can't seem to find where I go to make sure that it posts on top of quoted text when replying to a message or when forwarding.  - Running Entourage with Parallels Since installing Parallels 3.0 all Entourage attachments open in the Windows Virtual Machine instead of using Microsoft Word for Mac.  - Back up Entourage data by copying database? Is it possible and advisable to back up all my Entourage data by simply copying the database to a back up drive? I can set Retrospect Express to do this automatically once a week, and it seems to me that it's an easy and reliable way to back up all my entourage emails, email attachments, contacts and calendar info. And then if there is ever a problem with the original database or my harddrive crashes or something I can delete it and replace it with the backup copy. Is this a good plan?  - Double-click word selection going overboard When I double-click a word to bold or underline, the space after it gets selected as well. Except for Word, no other program on the Mac does this! How do I get double-click to select just the word like every other program on Mac? (I want this in Word as well, though it does the underlining correctly, unlike Entourage.)  - Cannot delete mesages Help please! I have a couple of messages that have come down via Mac (IMAP) and these now sit in my Entourage inbox. These messages are junk so I marked them as such - nothing happens within Entourage. I try to delete and again nothing happens, I also try "purge deleted" and *refresh message list" - still nothing. In desperation I log into my Mac mail account and the messages have disappeared. Presumably the delete has worked on the server but not in Entourage! How can I get rid of these confounded messages. When this happens, Entourage 2004 email is stuck trying to access the ISP university server for several minutes before it puts up a failed operation dialogue and the only way I've found to regain control is to quit Entourage and re-launch. 1. Without removing an Office 2004 email account and having to re-enter all the account specs, how can one temporarily disable it or just remove it from the send-receive options? (Rather than the "Send and Receive All" default, I can go under Send & Receive and select each account that I know is operational for handling incoming and outgoing messages but that is time consuming) 2. If an ISP's server cannot be accessed, how can one quit a frozen send-receive for an account without having to quit the whole Entourage program?  - Entourage database won't rebuild! My entourage X database gave me a warning a few days ago that it was getting full... I purged some big messages with attachments to clear space but the warning reapeared a couple of days later. It said that I could rebuild the database by restarting the app and holding option... Did that and it says the database is broken... I loaded up a backup of the database from a day ago and now that one isn't working either... Any way to recover?  - Entourage will not allow sent mail to AOL I am a brand new Mac user and have several family members who use AOL for their server. Is there a setting somewhere that I need to change so that Entourage will permit me to send mail to AOL? I currently get a message that specifically says I am not allowed to send mail to www.aol.com.  - Not receiving a copy email sent to my address I am not that computer savvy and am at a loss as to why i no longer receive a copy of an email back to my inbox when i send out to several addresses inc myself.  - Entourage can't get incoming email. I have been using this program successfully for about 2 years. About 5 days ago I was no longer able to receive emails on Entourage, I use Hotmail. The program would start normally, show how many email were to be received and then the blue whirling line at the rt. bottom of the screen turned into a white line with the number of messages to be downloaded remaining. I can sent email through Entourage although it takes longer for them to leave the out box. I can still access all email by going to Safari and using Hotmail. I can also link to the Internet with any mail links in Entourage. I have tired erasing my password and re-entering it(same password). I have set up a new account which assured me all was connected and accessible and downloaded all previous messages until it got to the same point and in the new account the exact same symptoms occurred. Sorry for the duplication. ======= When using Entourage as a local, POP3 client, I made considerable use of the Option button at the top, selecting "After sending, move to..." to keep local copies of sent emails in specific folders. However, after moving over to the Exchange server, selecting these folders does nothing (and yes, I *am* selecting the folders on the Exchange server). Copies of these emails are not sent to these boxes. So my question is, is this option really not available, or is it and I'm doing something wrong? I do know that I can keep a copy of all emails sent, then later put them in folders/mailboxes, but this is not efficient.  - importing contacts from Outlook on windows to Entourage 2004 Why is there no way to import a .pst file from Outlook running under Windows into Entourage? I want to move my contacts over and I have to first save them as an .xls file, then convert to a .csv file, then reformat the ZIP code columns to become general text, then import. I did not know about the ZIP code "bug/feature" and now I have imported 2000 contacts into Entourage, which are junk, caused by the ZIP code.  - removal of HTML images from forwarded email When I "forward" a message containing HTML graphics (e.g., a newsletter or company promotional email), it replaces all the images and graphics with raw HTML codes and links. There is no setting in the panel for "preferences/forwarding" to adjust this. My "compose" panel setting is for HTML, which works fine with new messages. I am running version 11.3.3 of Entourage 2004 on a Powerbook. After 9 months my email mysteriously changed preferences and I cannot find a way to reset them. I checked my Treo the other day and realized there were no non-recurring events in it later than the current month (July). Went home to find that all non-recurring events were also lost in Entourage (Office 2004 11.3.3) on my desktop. I can't tell when this occurred, though obviously some time in last 19 days or I would have noticed it. I ran a integrity check on the db and everything comes up fine. Sadly, I realize the backup i had of the database was replaced by the new one and does not have earlier data. I do have another database on a laptop, but the data there is not updated to this month. So, 2 questions: 1. Is there anything i can do to retrieve this data. I am not optimistic on this score, but since not all of it was deleted, i'm hoping it might still be somewhere. 2. Failing #1, is there a way to take the database off my laptop with events (and mail) through mid-May and integrate it with the more current events from my desktop. Thanks for any thoughts.  - Importing archived outlook 2003 folders into Entourage 2004 Hi I have recently moved to mac, thinking that since i have al my emails secure in outlook 2003 folders, it wouldn't be too much of a problem importing them into entourage 2004, this being after all the product of the same company.  - Entourage Junk Filter getting lazy About two weeks ago, I had very little junk mail(5 a day, MAX) in my inbox, but then one day, I started getting about a lot more, probably about +20 a day. This is the case both with my POP and Hotmail account. Have the spammers gotten a little smarter and able to fly under the radar better? Most problems users have receiving Gmail in Entourage is corrected in the
setting for Gmail on the web. Do you have the option set to receive your
Gmail accounts via POP?
