Is it possible that your returning message is being caught by a junk mail
filter? Either the in-built one or your ISPs?
Incoming mail from yourself to yourself is a pretty good indicator of spam -
in fact, it happens so often that Entourage's normal behaviour of not
marking as spam any message from an address in your address book is
deliberately de-activated for any message from an address in your 'Me'
contact.
I use a rule to make sure this doesn't happen, see here for details:
