If you're using Entourage 2004, have you tried using Spotlight search? That
works well for me. Note that you must have Mac OS X 10.4 and an up-to-date
version of Entourage 2004. If Entourage items aren't currently appearing
when you initiate a Spotlight search by clicking the magnifying glass icon
at the top right-hand corner of the screen or by clicking Command
(Apple)-Space and typing in a search string, you can set it up now.
Download and install the latest Office 2004 updates, which are the Office
2004 11.3.5, 11.3.6, & 11.3.7 updates.
In Office 2004, use Microsoft AutoUpdate to get the latest updates. From
any Office application, go to Help > Check for Updates (or manually launch
Microsoft AutoUpdate from the Applications folder). If any updates are
needed, they will display in a sheet, at which point you can check them and
press the "Install" button to download and install them.
Updates can also be found at the Microsoft web site:

After you have everything up to date, you can then go to Entourage >
Preferences, and then, under "General Preferences", click "Spotlight".
Check the option to "Include Entourage items in Entourage search results",
and then click OK.
