 - Messages won't delete Some, only some, messages won't delete. They don't change to "crossed out" and delete doesn't work. I get "ERROR 1025 An error occurred on the IMAP server. Account name Corkya" when I try to purge the deleted messages. Messages seem to delete on web mail access, so now my inbox looks different depending on how I access .Mac Mail.  - How to synchronize Exchange and local contacts/calendar Strange problem I haven't seen addressed here. I have an Exchange account and personal email account sharing Entourage. Every time I add a contact or insert a meeting in the local calendar, it won't show up in my Exchange view, and vice-versa. This gets to be a problem when I synchronize my PDA with Entourage (it only synchs the local view). Is there a way to have both calendars and contact books automatically synchronize with each other?  - groups/distribution lists on exchange server not showing up I am supporting a user using Entourage 2004 version 11.2.1 (051004) on an OS 10.3.9 machine. He is the only Mac user in an office that uses Outlook connected to an Exchange 2000 SP3 server. His assistant was set up as a delegate to create some groups/distribution lists in his contacts. They show up in her view of his contacts on exchange and he can access them in Outlook Web Access, However, he can not see them in his exchange contacts. He has some groups/distribution lists in his local folders that are seen. Is there a way for him to have access to groups/distribution list on Exchange in Entourage.  - Removing attachments with Exchange Server Can you do it? Before I had to use this Exchange Server, I could select the attachment sent to me and then simply hit the "remove" button and it would remove it so that I can save the email body only.  - Interesting Solution for Rules Problem (Forwarding) If anyone is having a problem with the Forwarding rule, you may want to try some variation of what worked for me... I was having problems with a one-step rule: 1) Forward All Messages to a second address All messages were consistently received at the second address, but about 5% of them showed no record of ever being received at the first address (i.e. no copy of the message anywhere - the Inbox, Sent, Deleted, etc.) A very smart and helpful user (named Jim Lange) suggested that I try using the "Redirect" function, rather than the "Forward" function, and just add an extra step to copy the message to another folder before redirecting it. So, I creating a new rule: 1) Copy the message to the Forwarded items folder 2) Redirect the message to the 2nd address All messages went through to the 2nd address, but there was no trace of the ANY of the messages in the Inbox, Forwarded, or Sent folders nor in the Deleted folder. So, I went back and added one more action, to see if some (or any) of the actions would be performed and if so, which ones. So the new rule went: 1) Copy the message to the Sent items folder 2) Copy the message to the Forwarded items folder 3) Redirect the message to the 2nd address. This time it worked perfectly the messages were forwarded to the 2nd address, copies were saved into the Forwarded and Sent folders, and best of all the original message stayed put in the Inbox! I don¹t know why adding one more step could force the other steps to be performed properly, but it¹s working... THANKS AGAIN JIM! Good luck, and I hope this works for you too!  - Entourage as "diskless" Exchange client? The title doesn't actually ask the right question, but in a sense it's what I mean. Is it possible to REMOVE the local folders from Entourage, so that it ONLY connects and shows the Exchange folders? Ask a silly question, right? Well, I've been asked this by some baffled Windows admins who can't see why "the Mac can't do this".  - Best Practices and Restoring, after a difficult Rebuild? I've been having some problems with Entourage X for Mac (v. 10.1.4) with my G3 running OS 10.3.9. I didn't know anything about compacting or rebuilding an Entourage database within my e-mail client, but after searching and reading through postings with this group, I've come to realize that one should do that on a regular basis. So one question I've got is, how often should one rebuild? Or how do you determine when to rebuild? I ended up with a seriously huge database file within my Microsoft User Data folder, and not enough room on my boot drive (total 10GB, no available). I had been regularly deleting e-mail, but I gather that is not how to economize on space. Maybe someone could explain how Entourage functions, such that the files get so huge. For a while I was getting an Error Message (-50), saying that Rebuilding Failed. I tried a number of suggestions gathered from this group, and eventually was able to do an Advanced Rebuild. Within my Microsoft User Data folder, I had three database files, two of which were about 2, almost 3GB each. The three files are called 'Database', 'Database (Rebuild)', and 'Old Database'. I moved the whole folder to another partition with plenty of room, and then I trashed one the two big database files. So now I have a bit more room on my boot drive. I launched Entourage, and it opened, which was great, because it had not opened for the last day or so. Unfortunately, it opened with a brand new account. I would like to know how to access some of my old mail, and all of my old e-mail addresses. Or perhaps another of putting it, how does one restore from a backup?  - Connection to Exchange not working Here is the problem. I have just gave external use to Outlook Web Access. Since this is now allowed Entourage for some reason doesn't want to connect properly to the Exchange Server. I'm running Windows Server 2003 and Exchange 2003. I get the following error message: Unable to establish a secure connection to X.X.X.X (ip address masked) because the correct certificate is not installed. If you continue the info you view and send will not be secure. No matter what I've done I can't seem to fix this issue and it started right after Web Access was accessible from the outside.  - Moving Entourage Main Identity to a different computer does not work I'm attempting to synchronize my laptop and desktop machines so that I have the same emails, folders, contacts, etc. When I move the Microsoft User Data over to my new computer, it copies itself correctly (same file sizes), but nothing actually shows up when I open Entourage. None of the email folders, addresses, etc. I have the exact same account settings on both computers, but it is not overwriting anything when it's moved over. Any idea why this might have occurred?  - How I cut the Address book search time by 40% When I upgraded to the latest rev of Entourage 2004, I saw an immediate slowdown of the search function in the Address book: if I typed in a last name in the Name Contains field (while the Address book was sorted on Name), it would take 6-8 seconds for the results to come up. It used to take about 3 seconds. (I'm running on a G5 dualie 2ghz with 2.5 gigs of RAM, on Entourage 11.2.1 with a Identity of 965M, and 3400 contacts). After doing a few Identity rebuilds, running Onyx and other maintenances, and seeing no improvement on this issue, I decided to try building a new Identity from scratch, and porting everything over using Paul's Export-Import scripts (http://www.scriptbuilders.net/). It took me awhile to figure out the correct sequence and logic of the scripts (each part of the Identity -such as Categories-needs to be first exported, and then imported) and Paul responded quickly to a couple of questions I had. It's no plug and play process, so it's worth going through the Read Me, for sure. And I was never able to get the Deleted Items folder over, as it kept giving me an error message. But for that, I finally figured that I could just use the old drag 'em out, and drag 'em in method, so in the end, everything I wanted into the new Identity came through. Did it speed up the search function in the Address book? It did, by about 40 or 50%. Enough so that I lost the Frustration Factor=99 whenever I'm doing a name search in my address book.  - Entourage HTML email rendering Hello We send out a lot of HTML emails, and are having a lot or problems with various versions of Mac OS X Entourage displaying the HTML incorrectly, whereas Apple Mail displays them perfectly. Does Entourage use the deceased Internet Explorer for Mac to view its HTML rather than Apple's webcore rendering engine? If so, this would explain the poor results. Does anyone know what is likely to happen in future versions of Entourage, as Mac IE is no longer being developed? It would be great if they would move to webcore. I've wanted to publish a project, such that any person in my company could view the status of each account, along with the notes that I've made, tasks, and calendar entries along with links to the project files. Is there a way to do this? It has to publish it to a generic web server such that people with Linux/OpenOffice/Firefox, Mac/MSOffice/Safari, and Windows/MSOffice/IE could use it.  - Long delay while switching to IMAP inbox folder in Entourage Hello there! I was reading all around to see if someone share my problem, but it seems I am alone;) I am using Entourage as IMAP client with Kerio Mail-Server 6.0.1 While downloading the mail via IMAP i am keeping a copy on local machine, so i can use it later on in off-line mode if required. Right now I have some 60.000 messages in my INBOX and every time i switch to it from another folder like Sent or Junk it take me about 30 to 40 sec to start reading INBOX folder.  - Event "Option status" (free/busy) doesn't translate to PC Environment: Exchange 2003, Mac OS X (Mix of 10.3.8 and 10.4.3), Entourage 11.2.1, Outlook 2003. When sending a calendar event out, switching the "option" to "Show time as: Free" doesn't stick when PC Outlook users open the message. All of the Mac recipients show the time as Free, but it blocks the time (shows as busy) for any person who accepted the event on a PC. If the user has a PC and a Mac, once it is accepted on the PC, the Mac also shows it as busy. If it is accepted on the Mac, it will show up okay (as free) on the PC once it synchronizes. We primarily use this function (Show time as - Free) for sending out notices when people are going to be out of the office. I send a calendar event to the people that need to know I will be out of the office, and they accept it to remind them that I will be out. We don't want it to appear that they are busy all day (in a busy search) because I sent them a "vacation" or "day off" message. What about exporting what you want to merge from one identity in an
archive and importing it in the other identity ??
