My brother moved to a new town and when he set-up his account with his new
ISP via their web page they (the ISP) was able to reconfigure his
Entourage with new POP account info. The good news is that he's got
service, the bad news is that his old InBox has gone missing. I've never
used Entourage and was not able to locate his old user/account using the
Account pull-down menu. Using the shorthand name of the new account I
tried to do a search to see if/where Entourage stored "account files"...
no luck on that or finding the old mailbox for that matter. I tried to
read various Entourage FAQ but they were little help on this score. Any
ideas on how/where to find the old InBox?

For a while he's keeping the old account with the old ISP till everyone
knows he's switched, so he could plug in those old account settings and
recreate that (additional) account but I don't thing that would help
retrieve the old InBox. Any help appreciated.

Paul

Was his previous account a POP3 account? If so, the INBOX contents
should be completely unchanged since it all exists on his computer.

If it was an IMAP account, all the old messages would still be on the
server.

We need more information to answer your question. Same computer? Same
copy of Entourage? If so, really nothing should have changed.

If his old account was an IMAP account, then yes, he needs to access
it. He can drag the messages into local folders to keep them.

To reiterate, I'm confused as to why the account isn't already set up.
Did Entourage get reinstalled somewhere along the way? Is this a new
computer? Just moving to a new town doesn't change anything.

Thanks Adam, I can only go on what he tells me but my brother claims the
earlier account was POP. Yes same computer, same copy of Entourage. The
process of him going to an ISP web page filling in a "form" and having the
ISP reconfigure his local Entourage settings is a mystery to me.

As little as I know about Entourage (nothing) I'm puzzled why the new
account would make the old InBox disappear. It's easier to understand
that the new ISP setting might over-ride the old account and not simply
add a new account. In this case (for a time) my brother wants both. Yes
he could manually recreate the old account (now secondary) but I'm not so
sure that would help in getting the old InBox. Suggestions welcome.

Thanks,

Paul

Well, your brother is missing some critical details. I'm at a loss to
explain behavior that does not occur.

Then nothing should have changed.

I've never heard of such a feature.

It wouldn't.

Even if he completely reconfigured the old account with the new
information, old email would be there.

Based on everything you've said, the old email should still be there.
It doesn't go away unless you either delete the mail, delete the user
database, or create a new *identity* (which isn't necessarily easy to
do). More information about identities can be found at
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/glossary/identity_user.html> and
