Entourage 11.3.2

Hi,

When I press 'send and receive all' at the top of the window, I don't think
I am getting any emails.

When I press that, in the right hand bottom corner it says: Schedule "Send
and Receive" All" will run in ... Minutes. That text runs through it's
sentences fast and does two things:

I will see "receiving 4 (whatever amount) messages, the barber pole will
run. Those will flash on for just a second, no messages appear, then the
the thing goes back to 'Schedule "Send and Receive" All" will run in ...
Minutes.' and stops. Email isn't coming in at the end of its ten minute
cycle either.

Also, and I don't know if this should or should not be appearing in the same
place, but occasionally it will flash: 'logging on to ...my email address'
but then it will just revert back to stationary.

Also, when I have Entourage on, and first thing in the morning I press send
and receive, I get a window saying, "Cannot log on, no telephone number
detected" What telephone number?

This whole thing seems to be intermittent because I will get some messages
during the day.

Rafael

Open the Progress window. It gives a bit more info. Under Window in the menu
bar select Progress.

At the bottom of the folder list, there are custom Mail Views. Select
Received Today. Do you see the missing messages? If yes, then you can find
the folder where they are being sent. We'll need to look at your rules and
Mailing List Manager rules to see what needs to be adjusted.

I've never seen this error. What are your Network setting in System
Preferences? Are you connected via tcp/ip or pppoe or dial in modem?

Also, each time the barber pole runs, when I click 'send and receive', one
of the quick announcements in front of the barber pole is "Connecting to (my
isp)...

Isn't Entourage supposed to always be connected to the isp. Once it's
opened. Or even before it's opened, if a connection has already been made
by, say Safari?

I do see in system Preferences>Network>Built In Ethernet, that putting the
computer to sleep, 'Disconnects'. I put the computer to sleep every night.
There's a button that says Connect, and a place that says Idle.

Why does Safari automatically open the connection to isp (without saying
there's no telephone number) while Entourage won't connect on it's own?

Use the Progress window, it's easier to monitor than the bottom of the
message window.

No.

Most cable connections now are always on. You don't have to dial in like you
used to with modems.

I'm not seeing Disconnects or Connect.

You still haven't answered my question of what type of account do you have
to access the internet. Cable, DSL, dial up PPP modem what????

Are you using Internet Connect?

Diane,

Entourage is receiving mail now.

I think the problem, was this: Up to a few weeks ago I was getting tons of
junk mail so I set "Junk Email Protection" to "Exclusive". I stopped
getting junk mail.

Yesterday I went into the Junk Email Folder and found tons of non-junk
emails, emails I /wanted/ to get. I went through the folder and marked
those 'not junk mail', then checked for them to be put in my address book.

I'm sending my answer to you, below, to tell you what you asked about and to
see if there's anything else to do, however I believe the problem is solved.

Thanks so much for your help,

Rafael

They're in the"Apple System Preferences>Preferences>Network>Built In
Ethernet.

When I get to " Built In Ethernet" (a drop down menu) the
Disconnect-Connect button is in the lower right hand corner.

In that same "Built in Ethernet" menu, The fill-in box, "PPoE service
provider" is blank. Then below the three fill in boxes is a check box
called "Show PPPoE status menu in bar. That's checked. Should the top box,
" PPPoE Service Provider" be filled in?

Best regards, Rafael

That makes sense. Exclusive means if they aren't in your address book,
the message will be marked as Junk.

Apply rot13 to this e-mail address before using it.

No. What's the reason I should be using it?

I've never had a reason to use it. It's an application that enables you to
connect to the internet via your internal modem.

I sent you a message off list about your network settings.
