error 18588 and sent hotmail goes to deleted items folder on my computer

I have 2 recurrent problems with entourage:

1. when I send email from my hotmail account with entourage the sent
items always end up in the deleted items 'folder on my computer',
rather than the sent items folder. They do still reach their
recipient.

ALSO:

2. When I am sending / receiving hotmail I ALWAYS get the following on
the error log:
An unknown error (-18588) occurred.
The message(s) could not be deleted from the Hotmail folder.

Account name: "myhotmailaccname"

Because of this I continually get error log messages that come up, and
it is annoying.

I have noticed that there have been a few emails about this error
message, but the only 1 that seems to nearly match my case is over a
year old and the topic was closed without a resolution posted.

I might add that I have the latest MSN Messenger, and a current hotmail
account

Entourage is v11.2.5 (060620) - Entourage 2004 for Mac.
OS is OSX 10.4.7

This sounds like a rule that is sending mail to the wrong folder. Check your
rules.

This is an explanation of the error. Sorry there is no fix offered.

Error -18588

Authentication problem with using the POP and SMTP servers at MSN.
Unfortunately it's not an Entourage problem, it's Hotmail's.

FYI... Entourage 2004 no longer works with POP3-based MSN accounts. You'll
need to convert the account to a Hotmail-based account, which Entourage can
then handle just fine.

There was a link to download MSN for Mac OS X to convert accounts, but when
I checked it was no longer available.

I have requested help from msn support on the log in issue, but I have
checked my Entourage rules, and I cannot see how this delete is taking
place - there are no rules to make it happen...
