 - Recreating Account We had an Exchange outage in our company and ever since the restore, Entourage (2004) has been behaving weird. I now have two "Deleted Items" and "Sent Items" folder and while I was composing a message, I suddenly saw that my "Sent Items" folder got emptied. I didn't hit delete or anything, but it simply disappeared. I'm guessing this has got something to do with the outage and rather than attempt to recover, I'd just like Entourage to forget my Exchange account and recreate a new one. So, the question is that if I delete the account, will it delete any emails from my server ? Or will that remain intact ? I'd prefer to delete the account and then re-create it since there's no way for me to just "disable" the old account. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Abhijit Tag: entourage Tag: 49411

 - Hijacked Incoming Email Recently I've noticed that all my Entourage inbound emails are being redirected to a third party's address. The particular address is one from which I've received hundreds of spam emails in recent weeks. Once I open an email it sits in Entourage until the next scheduled "send and receive" and just before I receive any inbound mail all my opened emails are then redirected to the third party.  - Mystery Icon, Lost Entourage Preferences I lost my Entourage Database when I tried to re-organise my documents and I dragged my entire dicument file off of the first frame of the Hard Drive onto the desktop. I got an icon of a small white cloud that exploded! Not a good little icon! No Document file. I did a search and found it, not in the trash and placed it on the descktop. Now Entourage , unable to find data it created a new one. Not realising what happend I simply ran an import as I had Exported to a file two days earlier. I got my contacts and some address book info back, but all my preferences, rules, and folders are gone - and I can't find them. I have searched for all other files found in the MUD file and replaced them with ones dated from the 20th, but still no luck. Likewise my mail (two years worth) is gone - but I could have swore I saw the import importing 'Mail' for an extended period! the Database file was 1.2 GIG! Do you think I have a hidden deletion?  - Contacts/Distribution Lists of Delegate I have delegate rights to another user of exchange (she uses windows outlook). If I click on contacts in Entourage and filter by her name, I can see 61 contacts, bu her contacts list is larger. Why am I seeing fewer contacts?  - E2004. Refuses to accept password as valid. OWA is okay... This is something that has hit us on a couple of occasions. We've been trying to pinpoint what's wrong here... and now we're close to the assumption that it might just be a small pocket of evil in Entourage 2004... Mac OS 10.3.7 / Entourage 2004 / Exchange 2003 (FE and BE). The problem. One of our users, who has previously been an Outlook:mac user under Mac OS 9, is now using E2004. Since moving to Entourage, this user has found that he is unable to send items, because his password gets rejected. This occurs, in spite of being able to connect to pick up mail, log-in to the domain to pick up his Windows shares as well as being able to connect to his mail through Outlook Web Access. It seems that the first time Entourage polls the mail server (to send and receive items), the password is rejected and from that point on continues to be rejected. Here's a list of what we've tried. Rebuild Entourage database. Uninstall and reinstall Entourage. Completely replaced the Mac G5 with an entirely new build of OS X and apps (inc. Entourage). Re-created the user's domain account (then re-imported email). Tried the user's account on five other Macs. Used a phony account and imported the user's PST. Renamed the user's account. Changed the user's password. Basically, the only thing, out of all the above that worked was: Installed the user's account on a PC. Any ideas what might be the cause of this? It's very trying.  - Suppress warning dialog when scripted sending Suddenly I'm getting a warning whenever I use a script to report spam: http://home.earthlink.net/~gnarlodious/EntourageError.png Is there a way to suppress this blasted dialog from inside the script? Creating another OS X user solved the problem, so I'm assuming it has something to do with a bad font for the old user. I have not tried any font fix-it tools, however, so I can't be 100% sure that this is it. By the way, I also tried rebuilding the Entourage database, uninstalling/reinstalling Office, rebuilding permissions, and reinstalling fonts. None of those options worked. Only by creating a new user and running Entourage there did I see the problem solved. (In addition, it's *still* a problem with the old user...)  - Entourage -3168 error Hi all, I need some help with a few mac os x and entourage vX 10.1.6. I often have a -3168 error code, and I can't find what this error mean, it seems in relation with the network or the connection maintained by entourage since every time I have this error, it is followed by many IN-USE errors from my ISP so I have to wait after the lock file to be deleted...quite painfull It's a POP3 account and this error occurred on more than one mac I have, and yet the most of them don't have any errors and office work fine as well...  - Entourage crashes during Import from OE Hello! I hope you can help me. I'm running OE 5 on my G4 (Mac OS 9.2) and I'm trying to cross over to Entourage 2001 in anticipation of purchasing Entourage 2004 for my new G5. I have successfully imported my address book and my accounts into Entourage 2001, but when I try to import my mail messages from OE the import crashes halfway through. I have restarted and tried again three times and I get the same result. In my outbox in OE there is a corrupt message. It doesn't send with my other messages and whenever I click on it to try and delete it, or attempt to drag it into the deleted items folder, OE crashes immediately. I have tried doing a "complex rebuild" of the database; this also crashes the program. I have not tried compacting the database. Maybe this corrupted outbox message is interfering with the import into Entourage, maybe it doesn't. That's what I hope one of you can tell me. Thanks!!!!! FACT. Other Mail clients known to work with qmail's "Authenticated SMTP" feature.; Outlook, Outlook Express, Agent, Eudora, Apple Mail & "/usr/bin/mail + shell script". Entourage2004 - bzzzzt!  - Can't Edit Merged Emails--Help! I need to send out several hundred emails where the first paragraph of each email is slightly different and personalized to the recipient. I wrote a document in Word 2004 and merged it with Entourage 2004 as an HTML email. It merges them directly to the outbox. (I did it as an HTML email so that I could have underlined and bolded text, as well as highlighted links.) Only problem, I cannot edit these documents no matter what I do. I've tried saving them as drafts, but they are still uneditable. It makes no sense to me! Any ideas how I can fix this bug or easily get around this problem?  - Printing emails in Entourage 11.1.0 under OS X 10.3.2 - Minute Print Size When printing or previewing emails, the text is minute - 5 point or smaller. Similar problem after saving as PDF file and viewing. The Entourage > File > Page Set Up is set to 100%. Even if set larger, the font remains minute. The Entourage > Preference > Fonts > Printed Items is set to Verdana 12. Even if set larger, the font remains minute as well. I cannot print anything to a legible size. Any ideas?  - font I am resending this message. It is important to me because of vision problems. I have OS 10.3.7 and Entourage 2004-version 11.1.0. I have used all updates that I could find. I am having trouble with font size in some emails that I receive. 1) I use the edit menu and choose --increase font size. Sometimes this works but not consistently. 2) I have set rules to increase font size. This works sometimes. I used the help website (mvps). I would appreciate suggestions.  - Folder Preferences and Rules - Lost data Base I managed to change my document file and thus 'lose' my Entourage files. Somewhat fortunate I had backed them up the day before but when I restored it I did not get my old mail, my folders were not reconfigured (I had lots attached to mulitple rules) and my rules are gone - ouch! I looked for the 'Rules' file from last week and moved that to the proer location along with everything else I could find in the old MUD file. still no luck. Wierd part is the restore took a long time (it is 1.2 GiG) and I noticed it was restoring 'Mail' - which I can not see. How to I get my old life back!  - Email: Forwarding results in hosed up HTML rendering I have an annoying issue with HTML-formatted emails that I don't think is normal. When I forward an email that contains a bunch of HTML and graphics, the new, forward message window is stripped of all the formatting and graphics. It's almost un-sendable because it looks terrible and the message is buried in a bunch of HTML code. I'd include a screen shot, but these message boards prohibit it. I know it can't be normal. Any clues how to fix it? I'm simply clicking on the Forward link, and it brings up a new window, the content of which is a mess.  - Palm sync to two computers (Issue with To Dos not transferring I have (mostly) happily switched to Entourage for syncing my Palm (v4), but I am baffled by the behavior of the To Do list. I have always synced to two computers - an IMac at work and an IBook at home - with no problem. My To Dos though don't transfer from computer to computer properly. They seem to update the Palm at first entry, but then the second computer doesn't recognize the change and make the adjustment. Or I update one on a computer (check it off as done), the update moves to the Palm, but not to the other computer where it continues to show as incomplete.  - Printing an Events List from a Calendar in Entourage 10.1.4 When printing an Events list from Entourage's Calendar it appears to list events within a single day in the order they were entered rather that in their time order.  - Mail won't go: Error: -177099 New G5 iMac running X.3.7 and Office 2004 to which I upgraded from Office v.X I tried to send an email to an Entourage group address that I often used, without a problem, in Office v.X. It would not go citing the error in the Subject line, above, with the Explanation: Mail could not be sent. Account "bobgir2004" Error: -177099. Thinking there might be something wrong with one or more of the addresses, I set up individual emails to each address, copying the text of the message into each one and sent them one by one. All went successfully. Why, with exactly the same 10 addresses combined in a group address, won't they go, instead giving me the error description I noted above?????  - Entourage losses email again This problem is epidemic in all newsgroups - boy MS sure doesn't like being consumer friendly. It is my turn, today i reorganised some document files and when I rebooted a few hours late Entourage can't find a thing and treats me like a new user. I tried to switch users, thinking it had switch on its own, no such luck. So I dug around. I do have a 1.2 GIG file "Data" where I beleive it is supposed to be. (HD/user,thats me/documents/micorsoft userdata/office 2004 identities/Main Identity/data) I'm at a loss, any suggestions? And if we fix this Entourage has created over 800 blank catagories to slow me down that only deem deletable on at a time..but this for later.  - Palm sync overwrote all Entourage addresses - any way to restore? I just installed the Entourage conduit for Palm. When I performed the hotsync all the addresses in Entourage were replaced with the ones on the Palm. I need to restore the Entourage addresses that Palm whiped out. Is there any way to do this.  - Can Notes be synced to Palm selectively? Hi Folks, I'm a therapist and it is convenient to use Entourage to keep track of client progress notes as well as appointments, contact info, etc. However, there is a security problem having the progress notes synced to my Palm. If the Palm were lost, my clients would have their confidential information at risk. I can set my Palm to always lock itself on when it is turned off, and so everything will stay protected behind a password. However, it would be much nicer just to be able to not sync those note files to the Palm at all. I suppose I could just not sync the Notes at all, but I wonder if there is a better solution. In Outlook I could create a separate note folder that would not sync, but I don't think I can do this in Entourage. Is there some other way to accomplish the same result?  - Entourage X / Palm Sync Trouble After buying a new Tungsten E, I installed the Palm desktop software and the Entourage Handheld Sync software. Since this new handheld replaces one that died, I changed the "user name" in the "Edit Users" section of the Hotsync menu to correspond with that of my new handheld. My understanding was that the Entourage Handheld Sync software automatically removes the Palm conduits to make way for the Entourage ones, but when I attempt to sync, I get this message: "A conflict in the installed conduits has been detected. To allow synchronization to proceed, use the Conduit Settings dialog to turn off the extra conduits for this user, or drag the extra conduits to the Disabled Conduits folder." Problem is, I see no extra conduits in the Conduit Settings dialog, and I'm not sure where to find the "extra conduits" to drag to the Disabled Conduits folder. Note: I have successfully performed the sync with my office Mac; might there be an issue with trying to sync with two different computers? Might there be a continuing compatibility issue based on the fact that my previous handheld had a different user name? Thanks for your time. Would be mighty grateful for your assistance.  - Project Center CALENDAR VIEW I just started using the project center in Office 2004 for the Mac. I am distraught by the fact that both the "overview" and "schedule" taps do NOT display the proper date. Both calendars display dates in the year 2016 and I always manually have to change to today's date. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Very frustrating, I need help. Thanks Loads!  - Project Center Questions Project center is a very cool feature. I do have a couple of questions: 1. I've noticed that when I subscribe to a calendar it adds the calendar entries to my calendar, which in turn end up on my Palm Pilot when I sync. Is there any way I can simply look at another persons calendar without addiding the entries to my calendar? 2. Failing that, can I filter out Project Center info from my Palm when I sync?  - Major, misterious database disaster Hi. I had a major disaster this morning. Can't understand what happened. Last night, as I use to do, left the computer running with Entourage open so it downloads email every hour and can automatically reply via rules to the several inquiries and newsletter subscriptions I have to manage. This morning everything was OK. I read two or three messages, then quit Entourage and restarted the computer as I do every Saturday. I didn't do anything else nor had any other software running at the time. No error messages, nothing unusual. But when opening Entourage again the identity was EMPTY!. It was even asking me to create a new email account. Messages, contacts, accounts, notes were all gone. I immediately checked to make sure it had opened the right identity. To my horror, the Database file for this identity was only 400K, while it should be at least 50MB or something. I searched the hard drive and the only other Database documents I found were from my other, older identities (2004, 2003, etc.). No 2005 identity but the empty one at 400K. I checked everyone of the other identities just to make sure... They had only the old information. Now, this is a horrible disaster because I have a marketing campaign running for my small business. It was very successful and yesterday I got about 250 messages from clients asking for more information. Since I got too tired, I left 150 messages to manually answer today. Now they are all gone, gone!! Anyone has an idea of what happened? Ideas to recover my information? I've not heard of a problem like this before. Some facts: - I have a backup but it's two weeks old. I need to recover yesterday's email. Unfortunately, because of too much spam, I have leave messages on server disabled. - I'm using Entourage X - Every year I make a new identity to avoid having files grow too big, so my 2005 identity was pretty small, with only about 850 text messages in several folders. - Since I get a lot of spam, I delete it twice a month and rebuild database through typical rebuild. Last rebuild was about ten days ago. Database was in good shape. - I've not written anything to the disc since the problem happened, in the hope a data recovery program could help. I tried with VirtualLab running from another Mac (both connected via firewire) , but to no avail. The only Entourage thing it found was a 18K file. Any ideas are welcomed. This is bad.  - changing signature in 2004 OK, I've gotten the message that it is not possible to customize the toolbar in Entourage 2004. So, now I'm looking for a work-around. I frequently go between two signatures when I'm responding to emails. It's a nuisance to have to go to tools>signature to change it. In Entourage X, there was a button on the toolbar that pulled up the different signature files I use. I'm trying to avoid the slow-down of having to use the mouse (and inadvertently using the wrong signature in certain emails). Is there a script that would do this more easily?  - Collecting hotmail messages via Entourage problemo Hi, Forgive me if this is the wrong place for this message, (I'm one of those blasted neophytes) but as of yesterday afternoon retrieval of my hotmail messages via Entourage stopped in both manual or scheduled retrievals and I began getting error messages (-50). Prior to that time I've consistently been able to monitor my hotmail account since setting it up months ago. Nothing happened yesterday that might have precipitated any problems. I have set up a new Entourage account, changed my password in hotmail plus (and reflected that in my Entourage account list), set up a new schedule; all to no avail. I'm running Mac OS X, version 10.3.6 and Entourage:mac 11.1.0. My connection to the internet is fine, I'm on a cable modem and can view my emails online fine. Suggestions?  - Multiple calendars and Free/Busy Hi -- I posted the message below to the Outlook newsgroup. I may have to do this on a Mac OS X box running Entourage X. I need for one person in Entourage to maintain calendars for up to five people who don't work there. She needs to see free/busy information for these people and schedule appointments between them. I do not -- and will not -- have access to an Exchange server. (The Mac and the Windows 2000 PC are the only PCs in this office.) How can I set this up in Entourage? This woman schedules all the appointments and is the sole maintainer of these calendars. I created a freebusy folder on her hard drive, created multiple PST files for all the people, and created individual Calendar folders in each of the PST files. I also set up all the people in the woman's Contacts folder, and set up a Free/Busy file location in each Contact in the form file://e:/freebusy/username.vfb. With this setup, I can create appointments on any Calendar, but I can't figure out how to update all the Free/Busy files. In fact, they haven't been created yet (my freebusy folder is empty).  - One assistant, five calendars, standalone Outlook 2000 or Entourage X Hi -- I have a single executive assistant that needs to keep track of calendars for five different people. She has access to either a standalone Windows 2000 computer running Outlook 2000 (IMO), or a standalone Mac OS X computer running Entourage (Office X). She needs to be able to make, cancel and/or modify all the appointments on all the calendars. She needs to be able to track free/busy information between these five calendars. The people that these calendars represent will not (cannot) have access to these calendars. The assistant will print out the calendar and hand it to the appropriate person. I am having trouble with font size in some emails that I receive. 1) I use the edit menu and choose --increase font size. Sometimes this works but not consistently. 2) I have set rules to increase font size. This works sometimes. I used the help website (mvps). I would appreciate suggestions.  - Maximum number of messages in database What is the maximum number of messages that can be in the Entourage database before problems start to occur? I have over 3,500 messages in my database although there are no more than 250 in each folder. I have 3 IMAP accounts (all with plenty of space left) and 1 POP account. Although Entourage is still running reasonably fast, rules are failing to run and sometimes even though I've read all messages (and done 'mark all as read') I still see "INBOX (1)" (reminds me of a problem in early Mozilla versions...).  - Doubled All-Day Events I'm having an odd problem with Entourage 2004 and have seen mention of this. I'm hoping I'm doing something silly and there is solution. First, I create a new event in the calendar. Then I check the "All-day event" box. I then set the event to reoccur every day. I then edit the occurance rule and have the event repeat for two or more times. (Setting an end date more than two days away results in the same problem as well.) The event shows up fine on the first day. However, it shows up twice on all the remaining days. If I delete the second, both are removed. When I sync Entourage to my Palm, a single event is shown every day. If I create an multi-day, no time event on my Palm, and then sync to Entourage, the event shows up properly.  - password problems and can't update I'm using Entourage on Office X on a G4 400 running 10.3.7. I have 2 accounts set up, one for my wife and one for myself. I have no problems whatsoever sending and receiving mail. However, my wife's account has frequent problems. She gets password error messages often and I've watched as it seems to take forever for a message to send. It is remedied by quiting and restarting Entourage. Usually this requires a force quit as Entourage hangs. I thought that perhaps updating Entourage would take care of the problems. When I tried to install the updates, I got an error message (which I can't remember) on two of them and one of those 'already installed' on the other. The already installed message was incorrect as I know for a fact that I hadn't installed that update. These are the updates I was trying to install: Microsoft Entourage 2004 Junk E-mail Filter Update 1 (11.1.0) - this one gave me that error message Microsoft AutoUpdate for Office 2004 for Mac - this one said that I didn't have Auto Update installed Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Service Pack 1 (11.1.0) - this one said that it had already been installed.  - Script menu crashes Entourage 2004 after category deletion If I delete a category in Entourage 2004 from an applescript run in Script Editor, everything works fine. If I run the same script from the Entourage Script Menu it crashes Entourage. What I believe is the relevant code snippit is this: repeat with delCategory in toDelete delete delCategory end repeat set allCategories to categories It seems to be crashing at either the delete statement, or at the retrieve all categories statement. I tried surrounding the delete statement with a couple of two second delays in case the delete hadn't completed when I was getting the updated list, but that made no difference.  - LDAP Server Error I just installed Office 2004 and the directory service for Entourage gives me an LDAP Server (global address list) error message. I had Office X installed before and the service worked fine. They both had the same settings entered, they were identical. I tried uninstalling Office X thinking they conflicted or something but that wasn't it. I have a proble similar to the preveous post. My entourage is deleting
files from the inbox after i've opened them. If I open an email in the
inbox then close entourage it will be gone when reopen the program.
Also some folder seem to be getting deleted. Also emails are no longer
coming in. What so ever. Ive rebuilt my hard. I need a fix by this for
tomarrow. Any solutions?

Under the "View" menu, make sure the option to view "Unread Only" is
unchecked.
