I have been using IE, and have some 3000 in my inbox - all read. I have now associated this address with Entourage, but it thinks they are all unread, so I get a popup message for each as if I have just received them. Can I tell Entourage that they are all read ?

Sure. Select (highlight) all of the messages, then choose Message > Mark
as Read from the menu bar.

Send responses to the relevant news group rather than to me, as
E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my very hungry SPAM
filter. Due to Google's refusal to prevent spammers from posting
messages through their servers, I often ignore posts from Google
Groups. Use a real news client if you want me to see your posts.

Select all messages and under Message in the Menu bar select "Mark as Read"
(cmd-T).

Or select the folder (e.g., Inbox) that contains them and press cmd-opt-T.
