 - Entourage 2004 Will not Sync Contacts Properly I have a user who is running Windows 2000 with Outlook XP in the office and OS X 10.3 with Entourage 2004 at home. She is able to synchronize her Mail and Calendar without any problem, however she only gets 39 of her 1500+ contacts to sync. After troubleshooting the problem for awhile I found that certain contacts will not sync and are causing the problem. For example if I remove the 40th contact from her contacts folder at the office she will then be able to sync up until contact 46, if I remove that contact she will sync up until the next contact that Entourage does not like. She does have a Blackberry which I suspect may be the culprit here. What would cause this? Is there any way to identify which contacts are the problematic ones?  - Acrobat "Email" button and Microsoft Office 2004 While working in Acrobat, I cannot use the "Email" button to send an = Acrobat=20 file via Entourage 2004--but only on my G5 dual processor; the action=20 works on my G4 iBook. I am using the latest versions of both Office and=20 Acrobat. I suspect the problem lies with Entourage and Microsoft, since Redmond=20 can't seem to overcome the G5 on one of its other products--Virtual PC. Thoughts? Suggestions?  - Palm conduit for 2004 removes addresses on handheld I am having difficulty with the Palm conduit for Entourage 2004. I installed it from Additional Tools and ran it, and it removed addresses from the contacts on my Tungsten T. I've checked the conduit settings, even tried having Entourage overwrite the handheld, but to no avail. This is, to say the least, quite frustrating.  - Dublicating calendar-entries in Entourage2004 Hello! I just switched from iCal / Mail to Entourage. Importing mails and iCal entries to Entourage and syncing with my Clié was no problem.  - Crisis on the Russian Front! Endless Cyrillic Spam... I'm a new user of Office 2004, and generally love it. I've been, amongst other things, very impressed by the spam filter in Entourage. HOWEVER. I've been getting tons of Russian language spam. I have tried to develop rules using random words or isolated Cyrillic characters, but to no avail. It's the only spam I get.  - Can't retrieve mail.. Using OS 10.3.4 and Entourage v11.0. When entourage checks for mail on it's own, I get an error message-"The server can't be found. Be sure the mail server information is entered correctly in the Account Manager, and that your DNS settings in the Network Control Panel are correct." I can get messages most of the time when checking manually though. Same happens when second person is logged in under their own login ID. Any thoughts? This did not happen under 10.2.8.  - Once I connect to exchange over my VPN I lose access to the web? Hi When I connect over a VPN (PPTP setup using standard internet connect) my corporate connection to my exchange server works fine, but I lose all access to the internet. So I can use Entourage fine, but safari comes up blank on all sites. On my windows VPN setup I merely untick "Use Default Gateway" on the TCP/IP properties of my VPN to sort this problem out - is there an equivalent on the Mac somewhere - there's no way I can change any settings on the Exchange Server.....  - Send & receive button "sticky" My "Send & Receive" button in Entourage 2004 acts sort of sticky. It is often unresponsive to a mouse click (particularly after a period of computer inactivity). After several clicks, or sometimes if I click on the menu down arrow and select the "send & receive all" menu item, it will eventually check my mail.  - Invisible/phantom Entourage mail message won't delete, causes errors I seem to have an email which is invisible, and cannot be deleted. When I roll the mouse over it, an error occurs. My partner and I want to share the same account (view the same e-mails), but we'd like to be able to switch names, so that when each of sends mail, our name is in the "from". Is there any way to do this other than the cumbersome task of opening the account and retyping the name each time? 2.  - Project Issues - rebuild .rge files? Okay, so we've been using the Projects feature in Office 2004 for a few weeks now with mixed results. Contacts are still freaking out when they belong to more than one project, frequently appearing twice on some computers, then disappearing altogether when removed from one of the projects. It seems likely that this has something to do with how the different projects are syncing on different computers. I wish there were a way to force a sync on a single project; then I could at least test it. Also, we've had computers crash during a sync, which appears to destroy the project file entirely (we get an "could not read the data inthis .rge file" error). Is there a way to rebuild or force an overwrite of the .rge file (short of unsharing and resharing the project, which is a big pain)? If not, it seems the whole system is rendered very unstable--if a sync of any of the machines is interrupted, the .rge is in danger of being ruined.  - CSV import includes quotes I've been trying to get a large set of Contacts into Entourage. The problems are the email addresses, and the notes field. Entourage does a great job of importing Now Contacts, except for the email address field, where gobs of data go missing. This suggests a text import. On top of this, every available field is used in Now Contact, and since the fields in Now and Entourage don't entirely jive, I brought everything into Filemaker to concatenate data as necassary. The cleanup went fine. However, because the notes field has Paragraph marks, I need to import as CSV with quotes as text qualifiers. Filemaker exports fine, but Entourage imports the data with all the quotes, which is useless. I might import with Outlook for Windows, but the field mappings are different. 9 of the Custom fields were used in Now Contact, and Entourage has 8. Outlook 2002 for Windows has only 4 custom fields, plus other extra fields. I don't have time to experiment to see how the data lines up in Entourage and Outlook when they're both using an Exchange Mailbox. And of course, the custom fields weren't used consistantly over the 8 years of life, so this is just about making sure all the data is visible in Entourage, the main mail client to be used.  - Entourage 2004 Since loading Office 2004 I am encountering the following problems in Entourage: 1. As I am on an ADSL account I send & receive manually - but when I try to do this, on some occasions it won't let me. Instead it says "will send and receive within one minute" or similar. I've checked in the "Schedules" and see nothing about this. It does send & receive in about a minute, but this is very frustrating when I want to send & receive immediately. 2. When I send an email I often (maybe once in three) get a message saying I can't send & would I like to re-enter my password. I re-enter the password and get the same message.  - New Palm Conduit We really need an updated Palm conduit. Only being able to sync a single address per contact is totally unacceptable. Right there is no proper syncing on Mac either with Entourage (no multiple addresses) or Address Book (no categories).  - Error -18597 I have a user who is testing Entourage 2004 as an upgrade from Entourage X. The desktop OS is 10.3.4, server is Exchange 2003 on a Win 2000 server. This user has a Treo phone and in his old version of Entourage he set up a rule to redirect certain mail to an outside e-mail account. Worked fine. New version of Entourage moves the message to the outbox but never delivers it to the outside account, erroring out with the following: HTTP error. Access to resource is forbidden. Mail could not be sent. Account name "Steve". Error -18597 The user can elect to manually redirect a message and it sends correctly.  - delegate setup problem I am trying add a delegate under the Exchange mailbox by clicking "Add". When I enter a username/alias for the delegate, I get a response that says "There was an error communicating with the directory server." This is strange as I have check name working and I can go to directoy services and search AD fine. I know the permissions are correct, because I do get email meeting requests for the principal.  - Unexpected Quit Problem I'm using Microsoft Office X Entourage with OSX.3.4. I have a POP account and an IMAP account. Yesterday I began having unexpected quits which I was able to recreate 100% of the time by pressing the send/receive button. I've tried normal and complex rebuilds of the database which did not solve the problem. Out of frustration I reinstalled all of Microsoft Office X. The MUD Folder did remain intact after reinstallation. The problem continued after reinstallation. Of course, the crash log that is generated is of little help to me. I've had no other problems with my Mac or OS. (I did run disk utility and repaired permissions just in case, but this did not help.) Is this likely related to a file in my MUD folder?  - Entourage 10: Entourage does not connect automatically Dear All, When switch from Appletalk (for my printer) to DSL Internet access (Ethernet), Entourage (e-mail) does not connect automatically. The workaround is to change to any new site on Explorer, then return to Entourage for my e-mail. I am running Office X for Mac. Explorer 5.2.3 on OS 10.3. Under System Preferences > Network > Built-in Ethernet > PPPoE > PPPoE Options > Session options, "Connect automatically when needed" is checked.  - Migrating Entourage Data from PCI G4s to new G5s I'm migrating a half-dozen or so people from PCI G4's running 10.2.8 to new G5's running 10.3.4. As you know, PCI G4's do not permit starting up in Target Disk Mode, so transferring account info, etc. is a huge pain. Here's my question: I need to transfer the email info, emails and address book info from the Entourage X on their old machines to the new ones.  - IMAP rules -- destination folder gets reset to local Inbox [Apologies if this question shows up more than once. I had problems trying to post on my Mac and decided to try again on a PC.] I recently started using Entourage X for Mac, Service Release 1, version 10.1.4 (030702), on Mac OS X 10.3.4. I've installed the Office v.X updates through and including the 10.1.5 update. I'm working with e-mail in an IMAP store. I set up a series of rules, including some rules that were supposed to move messages from the IMAP server inbox to other IMAP folders. Since I need to access my mail from multiple separate computers, I need to keep the mail on the IMAP server and do NOT want to move mail onto the local computer (except for stuff like junk mail). PROBLEM: Whenever I started up Entourage, the IMAP rules would go crazy, moving mail out of my IMAP folders and into my local Inbox. When I looked at my IMAP rules, I discovered that they were corrupted. Every rule that had originally specified one of my IMAP folders as a destination had been changed to use my local Inbox as the destination instead. I fixed all my IMAP rules by changing the destination folders back to what they were supposed to be -- but after quitting Entourage and going back in, they had all been mangled again to move mail to my local Inbox. This bug has apparently been around for some time. I found a couple of very old postings to this newsgroup that appeared to be describing the same bug -- but I couldn't find any indication of a solution. Please note that the IMAP folders in question already exist on the IMAP server. I found a Knowledge Base article about problems when trying to create new IMAP folders in a rule, but that's not what I'm doing here. Does anyone know if a fix or workaround exists for this bug? Is it fixed in Entourage 2004? If it hasn't been fixed yet, is there any likelihood that Microsoft will expend any effort to fix it if I contact support? In my view, this is an extremely serious bug that makes Entourage an unsatisfactory IMAP e-mail client on the Mac unless it can be fixed.  - HELP Entourage 2004 Stalls with Bad Signature Hi, Entourage 2004 Stalls when I receive emails that use moving marquees (in the signature) in them. I have to force quit to fix the issue. These generally come from outlook PC clients and I believe the marquee is a MS technology. Anyone else experienced this problem?  - Problem with Send/Receive Schedule I just switched from Mac Mail to Entourage 2004. I used to use Entourage X a while ago, but abandoned it for Mail when Apple came out with it. Anyway . . My old identity was imported to the new Entourage and I have two IMAP email accounts. Here's the problem . . For some reason, my "Send and Receive All" does not retrieve new mail when it is done automatically. Only after manually clicking on "Send and Receive All" will it retrieve my new mail. I do have both accounts set up to be included in the schedule. I see the status bar change every 5 minutes . . That is . .  - Entourage offline syncing error We're running Entourage 2004, attaching to an Exchange 2000 server, and=20 are getting an error when coming off of offline mode. We have 660 items = that need to be synced, but it fails after about 30 seconds, with the = error: Unrecognized internal error: 0xfffff9bf. I've tried everything to clear the errors to no avail. This error is = also shown=20 in the exchange server logs. There is no indication anywhere as to what = to=20 do with this... the error code on the message is 1025.  - disappearing text I am having a repetitive and bothersome issue with Entourage. = Oftentimes=20 when I am typing an email, I find that the cursor inexplicably jumps to=20 another section of the message and begins to enter text into the middle = of=20 the preceeding segment. Other times I have found that a section of=20 previously typed text will disappear with a particular key stroke. I = have even=20 had this happen repetitively while watching the kepboard after retyping = a=20 sentence over and over.  - Setting the right LDAP search base in Entourage Hi, I'm looking to allow my Entourage users to search our Users and Distribution List objects in our Active Directory database, but I can't seem to get the search base to search the "cn" and "ou" attributes at the same time. Here's how my Entourage Directory window looks: LDAP server: abc Search Base: cn=users,dc=xyz,dc=com This allows users to search our Users folder without getting the outside Contacts to pop up (the reason for not setting it to search the entire GAL in the first place), but it doesn't search the Distribution Lists I can swap the cn=users for ou=distributionlists to get it to search the Distribution Lists, but than it doesn't search the Users. I want to search both. When I set the Search Base to ou=distributionlist,cn=users,dc=xyz,dc=com I get a "An unknown error (-17766) occurred"...sometimes it's -17768 or even -17799.  - Can't create connection schedule for Exchange account Hi, While at work (on the LAN) I can only access our Exchange server via IMAP/POP3, At home (on the Internet) I can only access the server via the OWA interface. So I thought I would create two schedules, one that accesses via IMAP during my expected work hours and one that accesses via OWA when I expect to be out of the office. However the Edit Schedule window will not let me select the OWA account. It's in the popup, but grayed out. I can read and send email via the account, just not set up a schedule. At work OE is set up to delete mail more than three days old which has been
moved to the "Deleted Items" folder. How do I do this with Entourage X?

The other complication is that some mail (a very small percentage of the
letters) in my Entourage X "Inbox" and "Deleted Items" folders are blanked
out and cannot be manipulated.

With a schedule - you can set 'aged' emptying of the deleted items folder in
the schedules.
