deleting emails from server for Exchange accounts

Hello.

Using Entourage 10.3.6 on OS X 10.4.10 PPC I cannot figure out how to
remove emails from the server while keeping a local copy. The options
which are normally available for IMAP and POP accounts to leave a copy
on the server (or not) are no where to be seen for Exchange accounts.

When I click the green and yellow icon next to the emails, and select
"Delete Message from Server at Next Connection," nothing happens...
I've reconnected to the server to and it still shows the "on server"
icon and the "Leave Message on Server" is checked again for that
email. I've emptied cache and syncronized now and still no difference.

Is this just broken or is there something on the Exchange server that
maybe needs to be set? Any ideas?

AutoArchive Exchange Account to "On My Computer"

Move all e-mail older than 60 days from your Exchange account folders to
archive folders within the "On My Computer" folder tree.

Thanks Diane. It's disappointing that MS left this up to external
scripts. I believe with Outlook, users can browse the archived w/o
having to re-import them in like in Entourage.

I'll have to tweak how it the script functions but boy does it irk me
that I have spend time working on code in order to address an issue
that every exchange user needs to deal with.

If there was simply an action I could set up a schedule for that would
take emails older than x days and "move" them to "On My Computer" then
delete from Exchange then this would not be a big deal. That's just
one way that would have made sense. (At least to me.) I understand
that "Entourage" is not "Outlook for Mac" and all that, but its been
years and year of suffering from bad design choices all in the name of
the belief that Mac users are different than a PC user and therefor
need different ways of doing things.

... ok I'm starting to fly of the handle a bit. not called for.

the AutoArchive script doesn't work for me as is. it created the
folders in On my Computer, but didn't move any emails to it. I have
emails since April in my Inbox so there should be plenty to find. The
script finished in about 5 sec.

I don't have an exchange account to test, but the script was provided by one
of the developers of Entourage. Did you alter the script before using?

You can create a Schedule to run an AppleScript.

just doesn't work beyond creating the archive folders in the "On my
Mac" section. It doesn't move any emails.

I think I see why the AutoArchive script may not function. It relies
on Entourage Spotlight integration which I used to have on, but now
not only is it off, the option to turn is on is not in Preferences-
>General anymore.

Ive reapplied the 11.3.6 update but it didn't add the Spotlight
integration. Now I'm messing around with removing Office and
reinstalling

Okay, had to remove, install 11.2.0 then upgrade to 11.3.3 to get the
spotlight back. After that I updated to 11.3.4 then I could jump to
the 11.3.6 update. Now that Spotlight integration is restored, the
AutoArchive script works.

It's interesting to note that the little yellow envelope icon still
shows up next to the messages in the list. This icon means (to me)
that it's still on the server. But in fact, using Outlook Web Access
(OWA) I can confirm that they are not on the server. Also this yellow
envelope still lets you select it to get a menu to Delete Message from
Server at Next Connection but it does not do anything. at all.
