 - Yikes! "verify/rebuild database" Hi, it scares me to get a message that I should verify my database and possibly rebuild it. I think I did this last year and lost everything. Could you just walk me through this before disaster strikes? I archived all my mail to a remote hard drive to free up space and all is running well, but I got that message that database might be corrupted and should verify/rebuild. By the way, when I archived mail, it did not take lots of mail that is in folders on the left. How do I archive these too? I LOVE Entourage and really, really want it to work for me... Thanks!  - Unexpected question? Hi MVPs, Here is a different question for you: Do you use Safari or Firefox? No, this is not some survey, just me asking the experts. I have come back to Entourage after a long time of using Mail and iCal and Address book and when I click on a link Safari opens. That's when the question came to mind: What do you use? Personaly, I use Firefox because most often things will work there that do not in Safari. There are rare occations when it is the other way around, for that I hang on to Safari.  - send but can't receive hi all, i'm running 10.4.9 and entourage 11.0.0 from office 2004, my server is through my own website sustainableevent.com (a hosting company called http://supanames.co.uk/ (whom i'm waiting for a response from)) i can send but can't receive emails through entourage, i get the following error; Relaying denied. Proper authentication required. Error: -17099 the entourage help suggests; check box. - SMTP server requires authentication when i check the box i get the following error message; Authentication failed because Entourage doesn't support any of the available authentication methods.  - Email appearing in a category when none is assigned Hi all. I started using Entourage for my e-mail about a month ago and all was well until just last week. I have not set up any 'rules' nor have I assigned any 'categories' or 'projects' to anyone in my address book, yet my e-mails are being put in the 'recreation' category and it's colour. I can go into each message and change the category back to none, the colour then reverts to the colours I have chosen.  - Calendar view date column problem When creating a custom calendar view, entries with repeating dates show the date of the first event.  - Database software that goes further thank Entourage I am sticking with Entourage for personal/business information management. But I've recently been trying to do mail merges and largish email-outs. I find the categories function useful but I now have so many categories (and they don't nest into categories and subcategories) that things are getting a bit unwieldy and haveing just recovered from a database corruption (becasue I have short and long- term incremental backups running. I think it's time to invest either time or money or both in a tool more suited to the task. Can anyone who's outgrown Entourage for more than what it is actually designed for recommend a piece of Mac database software that I can use for marketing purposes? I've looked at filemaker - I've played around with the trial download and found it not very intuitive. Perhaps I need to persevere with that?  - how to import emails into Entourage I am trying to recover downloaded emails from an old hard drive that I just replaced. It "crashed", or at least wouldn't boot up, though I am able to open files on it. It contains 3 weeks worth of emails that are not on my current hard drive since I hadn't backed up in that long. I've finally located the email accounts (users - my name - documents - Microsoft User Data - Office 2004 Identities), but the Entourage Import procedure won't allow me to select the folder to import, nor do the folders containing the email account names contain a "messages" file.  - Entourage sync and problems with calendar views The sync options are not present under the Entourage preferences pane. The Microsoft Synchronization daemon is not running and /Applications/ Microsoft Office 2004/Office/Microsoft Synchronization is a PowerPC exe and cannot be manually started via the shell. Does anyone have a solution for this? Also in calendar, is it possible to set the default views so that each hour is divided into quarter hour intervals?  - Entourage gone, but still working! I thought I had deleted Entourage, but it still keeps generating a link in iCal. When I do a search via Spotlight to find orphaned items, it allows me to delete folders and files but they keep re- generating, including the peskly Entourage link in iCal. Even if you don¹t have an assistant, you¹ve probably run across this when you reply to a message via webmail ? the link between the reply and the original message won¹t be reflected in Entourage. I was asked by a client to try to ³fix² this; here¹s my first attempt. This may also be useful for IMAP users. The script looks through your Sent folder and reads the In-Reply-To header from each sent message. It then attempts to locate the matching message ID in your Inbox, based on Message ID.  - Entourage X won't open Ever since I uploaded Spanning sync for Mac, my Entourage won't open -- the banner just hangs.  - Here's my Entourage wish list - what's yours? Have to say, I LOVE this product even though its limitations are frustrating. I keep trying other ones but keep coming back to Entourage for its simplicty, colorful-ness and its easy, breezy, intuitive design. I've sent this feedback to them before but never hear back so hopefully it got read.  - Creative thinkers: any way to do a phone log in Entourage? I love Entourage enough to have found workarounds for its limitations so far. However I need to manage my customer list for callbacks, log etc. I know what I really want is a CRM app but I 1) can't afford it right now and 2) really like Entourage and don't want to have to switch between two apps. I wish, wish, wish that Entourage had the capablility of a phone list view with customizable colored flags (for call back, appointment, follow up etc), with easy sort and easy preview of a phone log for each contact.  - Auto Response I set up an auto response with a second identity using Rules in Entourage 11.3.3 (via Exchange server), however the replies only go through when I have the mailbox open.  - Database Utility Problems Has anyone else noticed that the repair feature of the database utility often deletes folders and messages from users local database? I have seen this happen at least 5 times lately and each time it the database file was rather large (2-3 Gigs) and the users reported that folders from the "On My Computer" section disappeared!  - Entourage unpredictably deletes mails and mail folders We have an Exchange 2003 mail environment in which a few of our Entourage users encounter a rather strange problem. >From time to time it happens that entourage deletes mail messages or complete mail folders in an unpredictable way. Astonishingly also "system folders" in the mailbox are deleted, which to my knowledge is impossible to do via the GUI in Entourage. The deleted items are "hard deleted". So they don't go into the "deleted items" folder. They can only be restored from the mail server's "dumpster store". We use Entourage version 11.3.3 running on a fully-patched Mac OSX. The people affected by this problem are in a very intense collaboration with other users working mainly with the Oultook client under Windows. This means that most of the mailbox folders are highly shared with these other users. Entourage is set up as a WebDAV client. Users who interact only with other Entourage users don't seem to be affected by this problem. We can see that Entourage sends the deletion command to the server. This can be seen in the WebLogs. The Entourage client sends a BDELETE command to the server. Very often it can be seen that such a BDLETE command is sent just seconds after the user logged in to his mailbox. The Exchange 2003 Server is also fully patched. We know about the "mailbox move" problem between Exchange and Entourage in the past, which could cause loss of mail items.  - Entourage Freezes in Calendar Mode I'm using Entourage 2004 on my MacBook Pro and have had lots of crashes and hangs using it. Some seem to come and go but the one consistent problem is moving from email, tasks, notes or Project Center to the calendar. Whenever I click on the calendar icon, the application hangs and I have to Force Quit. Worse yet, I have to restart the computer for Entourage to launch again. If move among the other functions - email, tasks, notes or Project Center - I have no problems. I have disabled all Sync Services functions.  - Sent folder doesn't synch If I send email from the Outlook web client, it synchs in my Entourage Sent folder. However, if I send from Entourage, I have to empty my cache to get the Sent folder to Sync. It's a real problem, as I have constant need for Sent folder access. In the MS version of Outlook, you have an option that says "deliver mail to" and you select the desired folder froma drop down menu.  - Moved IMAP Messages Do Not Display I'm having a problem with moved messages in Entourage. Here is an example of how this problem crops up: I have a rule that moves messages that are received from a specific e-mail address into an IMAP folder. Every now and then (its rare, but it happens), the message being moved does not appear in the target folder in Entourage. I know the message arrives because the folder appears in bold indicating an unread message, but the message is not in the list of messages. "Refresh Mail List" does not fix the problem. If I check my e-mail account using a Webmail application (SquirrellMail), the message is displayed in the folder. I can move the message in Webmail to another folder then it will appear in Entourage (i.e., this problem doesn't happen all that often, so moving the message a second time fixes the problem).  - Combine / Merge ? / Purge ? / Share ? ... Address Books From Two User Accounts My wife and I each have a user account on the same computer in OS X and in each user we use Entourage for email and address book stuff. I have some address data she doesn't, she has some I lack, some of mine are old and out of date, bla bla bla. It would be great to have one master address book but two separate emails -- but I think I've been down that road and it isn't possible. Failing a current, common master ... What is the best way to combine our two address books, sift through, clean up, etc. and then export back to the individual users? We just want to share address books not emails and calendars. Oddly, not all rules have stopped working but most have. The Junk mail filter (set at high setting) has gone from 2/3 efficient to 2/3 inefficient (with about 225 junk messages per day that is painful). I have tried turning them off and back on but that has not helped. I am wondering if I need to reinstall Entourage and/or the Office Suite? Any suggestions would be appreciated.  - signature issue Hi there I have had a few people send me emails with coloured strips in their mails. This is clearly part ofd a signature file, but it as I mkae the window larger or smaller the coloured band grows or shrinks to fill the available space. how is this done - or more to the point - can this be done in Entourage. I've messed about with the signature file area but the options seem very limited - I'm thinking maybe this is done in some other mail programme. any and all comments most appreciated....  - Entourage Emails - Backing up and Removing Duplicates Hi there, I've just imported a huge amount of messages into Entourage. I read through the posts here and see that Exporting to MBOX is one way of backing up e-mails. Is there a limitation on file size for this? Also, is there a storage file size limit for Entourage for all the mail folders stored on the computer? As to removing duplicates I downloaded one (Remove_duplicatamsgs, 11.3 kb). Now as I'm new to Macs (iMac Intel Duo) what do I do next? I am unfamiliar with how to use this utility so that I can go through each folder (my preference) and get rid of all the duplicates.  - Entourage missing messages? I have just encountered my first problem with Entourage. Out of the blue today when I log into Entourage and try to get new messages, the program tells me that there are 309 messages waiting to download. I know that I don't have all those messages waiting for me as I had retrieved my latest messages only about 90 minutes earlier. Plus, in the inbox, there are many "spaces" in the box with missing messages. I can still access the messages I can still see. what is happening and how can I fix it? Thanks for any advice I receive.  - Ical and entourage dates are off I am having an issue with my calandar appointments i make being 4 hours off. i called Mac Office support and they determined it is an Apple issue for it may be a system issue. I called Mac support and thier teir 2 tech pinpointed the issue is with Microsoft's Software. I called back in and Microsoft Mac tech said it is still in the system for Ical pulls the date and time from the system and Entourage has its own date and time. If Entourage is correct and Ical if it is wrong then it is in the system.. I managed to uninstall office with a back up my Microdoft User Data on the desktop and moved that back in (after I made a copy) and opened entourage.  - Sharing address book/not exchange server? Using Entourage: Mac 2004 Version 11.3.3 on two computers that are networked but not with exchange server which is what I have read you need to use to share the "address book in entourage" ( not address book app for mac OS X) I'd like to share the "address book in entourage" with my assistant so we are using one master address book-- The cost of exchange server just to do this is cost prohibitive. Surely there must be some simply networked Mac computers who need to share one address book. ? and have found a way to do this?  - Backing Up Entourage Just wondering if there are any other sysy admins out there with the same issue I have written below? Basically when doing a backup of the users computer in a business environment it stinks to back up entourage. Entourage keeps the email in a db and any change that whole db needs to be backed up. Now in certain places it is not difficult since they are on IMAP, but POP users with 1-2 gigs of email the whole db of 1-2 gigs needs to be backed up nightly. With Apple Mail each message is kept separate so back up only backs up that one message. Anyone know a way to simplify this back up method of just what has changed?  - Accessing Hotmail Accounts through Entourage I followed the instructions to access my hotmail account in entourage and it's not picking it up. An error window pops up saying "the hotmail folder cannot be received". the explanation in the window says "HTTP error. The server does not support this request." Check the format in the System Preferences>International>Formats.

THat's where Entourage gets the format it uses.
