configuring entourage

I have just migrated from outlook 2003 for XP to Entourage and Mac.

Could someone help with the following questions:

there are 6 icons on the top left hand side of entourage. can i
configure them to appear under " on my computer" ?

my emails seem to be taking longer to arrive in my inbox than with
outlook. i have looked at the configuration in schedules and it is set
to manual. besides setting up a schedule to send and receive every
minute, is there anything else one can do?

in the address book, can one set up a different view to look at
contacts that is not a list?

can one combine contacts, email, address book and/or tasks in one
view?

No, but you can make them smaller. Under Preferences select General tab and
check Display small navigation buttons.

Tip, click on each icon for choices. For example, Mail will show you each
folder and how many unread messages are in each.

I suggest setting a schedule. I've not noticed a difference with download
time but this is also a verible since each person's ISP is different.

Sort by category is my favorite. Add a category to each of your address
entries. Examples: family, work, buddies, talk lists, newsletters. Now when
you create a rule, you can use category rather than entering each address.

Actually, this appears to be quite possible. I just created a custom view in
which I selected "All Items" and set the sole criterion as "Date - is
greater than or equal to - 0 days"

In that view I see all my e-mails, all contacts, all calendar entries, all
notes -- i.e., pretty much everything in my entire Entourage database.
(Well, I cheated -- the view was taking so long to display that I added the
criterion "Category is not newsgroups".) But yes, this view is showing me
virtually everything in Entourage.

I don't know how usable this view could be -- too much of everything all
mixed in together -- but it works.

I, too, have just turned in my windows machine at the office for an
iMac. I've had a Mac at home since 1986. But, I need Entourage to
access my Microsoft Exchange Server in the office and provide my
emails, contacts and calendar, just like Outlook used to do. The rest
of my staff still uses Windows XP with Microsoft Outlook.

I've sucessfully configured my iMac so that it sees my Exchange Server
and can download my emails. I can't yet send them but I can receive
them. One must walk before we can run. My contacts and calendar on
the server aren't showing up at all. As strange as this may sound,
the server is sending me the calendar information as an email. Same
thing with the contacts. I can receive in "mail" mode but not in
"calendar" or "contacts" mode.

I think this is pilot error on my part and that I've probably set
something fundamentally wrong. But after hours of work, I can't find
it.

The really frustrating thing about this, of course, is that I can't
find very much on how to configure Entourage for Exchange, calendar
and contacts and how to troubleshoot when things go wrong. I
understand that I'm in a mixed marriage here, but, surely I can't be
the first person to try this. I'm badly in need of some guidance.
Please let me know your thoughts on how best to approach this
configuration.

There is detailed information at

thing to do is to make sure that your Exchange server meets
Entourage's requirements.
