 - Double-clicking on a calendar event in Month view will not open it I cannot open a calendar event by double-clicking it! In Office 2004 (Entourage 11) I could double-click on any event (in Month view) and that event would open. For some reason, in Office 2008 (Entourage 12.0.1) this feature worked for about one day and then quit. Now the only way I can open an existing event in Month view (or any other view for that matter) is by clicking on it and then going to File > Open Event (or Control O). I know that I can click on that incredibly skinny band in Week or Day view to open an event, but that band is not there in Month view, and besides, even in Week or Day view that band is really narrow and difficult to hit. The annoying thing is that double-clicking on a calendar event WOULD open it during the first day after I installed Office 2008, but then it quit. Is there a way to fix this?  - How to determine the number of phone entires in Address Book Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: intel Email Client: pop I've surpassed the number of allowable phone entries supported in my bluetooth-enabled car and would like to determine the total number of phone entries in my Address Book. Entourage displays the total number of Address Book entries as "Items Displayed" in the lower left. However, for each entry I may have a Home, Work, and/or Mobile number, making the actual number of phone entries that my bluetooth system sees higher by as much as 3x this number.  - Entourage 2008 stopped updating Exchange inbox I upgraded to Entourage 2008 about a week ago, and haven't really had problems connecting to my company's Exchange server. Then at some point late this morning, it decided to stop refreshing the inbox on the server. It goes through the motions acting like the inbox is updating, but nothing new comes in. New messages are showing up on my BlackBerry and I see them if I use OWA or Outlook in a VM. I can send messages just fine from Entourage, and they show up in my "Sent Items" on the server, so I know my server settings are right. I ran WireShark and it gives a strange error when Entourage loads: 68 4.081049 10.15.201.112 10.15.28.49 ICMP Destination unreachable (Port unreachable) Those are the only entries relating to the Exchange server. If I do the capture when I run Outlook, I get boatloads of entires for MAPI etc... Is there a way to "repair" the Entourage installation? I am getting frequent crashes of Entourage which seems to happen anytime I switch to Mac Mail. I use Entourage for my company's exchange mail, and I use Mac Mail for my personal e-mail. I was using Entourage 2004 without incident prior to upgrading to Office 2008. My Mac Pro (2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo) is running Tiger 10.4.11. Any ideas on what might be causing the crash?  - Entourage 2004 appointments for user are showing up 1 hour ahead Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange Good afternoon, This morning a calendar I was viewing of a user was working fine. I went through and showed him how to connect up to a shared folder on a server here in the office and it moved everything ahead in the calendar 1 hour. Noone else of the 30 other Mac laptops is having this issue. I checked Time and Date for Time Zone information. He was set to Austin, TX as the location but I changed him to Minneapolis and rebooted and that didn't fix it. Then I changed the location from Chicago to Minneapolis in the Time Zone area. Rebooted again. Nothing changed. All appointments in his calendar are still an hour ahead. Both before today and those coming. I looked on his Phone, the time zone was set to use Chicago. When he changed that to Minneapolis, the appointment we had opened was set for 7 AM before selecting Minneapolis, but after it changed to 8AM. I set his working hours in Entourage from 9-5 to 8-5 Rebooted again. Still no go. I applied the latest Office 2004 update as it came up on a reboot to check Microsoft AutoUpdate for updates.  - Hold Mail script for Entourage 2008 I wrote a script to do two things: 1) Disable and enable receiving mail in Entourage. 2) Let me know at a glance if receiving email is enabled or disabled, even when Entourage is hidden. This is done in the dock, where I look for new mail and where I check to see if Entourage is running. Here is the script I worked up. (* Hold Mail - stop and start checking mail with Entourage *) on run tell application "Microsoft Entourage" if working offline is false then set working offline to "true" tell application "System Events" to set visible of process "Microsoft Entourage" to false end if end tell end run on quit tell application "Microsoft Entourage" if working offline is true then set working offline to "false" tell application "System Events" to set frontmost of process "Microsoft Entourage" to true if name of schedule "receive" exists then execute schedule "receive" end if continue quit end if end tell end quit Save it as an Application Bundle called "Hold Mail" that stays open and has no startup screen. Put a nice icon on it and put it in your dock next to Entourage. Start up the "Hold Mail" app to go offline and hide Entourage. Quit the "Hold Mail" app to go online, unhide Entourage, and check mail. If the Hold Mail icon in the dock is running, your email is "on hold." If it is not running (and Entourage is running) then mail is getting through. Note: You must name your Entourage schedule for checking mail "receive" to get your mail checked as soon as you quit Hold Mail. Otherwise your mail will be checked on your regular schedule. I am giving this script away here. Perhaps someone will adopt it, polish it up, and publish it on the MVP site or scriptbuilders site. That's fine with me. If you want to give me some credit, the name Bruce McL will do. I wrote this because I like to start and stop email delivery many times during the day for several different reasons. Sometimes I want to concentrate on computer work, sometimes I'm leaving for a while and I want new email to show up on my mobile phone. Starting up Entourage 2008 takes a long time, and I am tired of looking at the splash screen. Anybody know why Entourage *needs* a splash screen? I already bought it, why should I have to sit through a commercial every time I launch it? Oh well, another rant for another day. Things that can be improved: - Make an icon that changes color when the app starts up and changes back when the app quits. I believe an AppleScript app could rename a couple of .icns files inside it's own application bundle, but I haven't put time into that. - Better error checking. - More flexible procedure for immediately checking email on quit. - Write a helper script to invoke this from Entourage with a key command. Command-Option-K perhaps? What Microsoft could do to improve Entourage in this regard: - Make an overlay for the Entourage dock icon, perhaps an envelope inside a red circle with slash, that shows up when Entourage is offline. This would be a big help when clients accidentally go offline, then call me up and say, "My email is broken." If I have a message open and click the print icon I get and error message that reads: An unknown error occurred while printing: (-30872). Once this happens I am not able to print anything at all. In using this addresbook the middlename of a person is not visible in the address view. For instance name of a contactperson: Martin de Man (first name, middle name, last name) In Entourage the address book reads Martin Man. I've seen this on my company's "Outlook Webaccess" and Evolution. I think a buddy of mine might have figured it out.  - Sync Entourage calendar on two machines Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: imap I've just set off on a business trip using Entourage on my MacBook Pro for the first time. Surprise, surprise, it's a mess. I sync calendars with iCal so I get the same one on the road. Works fine if I use iCal as my main calendar of course. My desktop - as is well covered here - will only put events into one calendar in iCal - Entourage, which it creates. Fine - I have learned to live with this. However, Entourage on my MacBook also creates a calendar called Entourage in iCal and refuses to read the events created by my desktop, even though they have the same calendar name. So I now have to calendars called Entourage and my scheduling is a mess. Is there some way of forcing my MacBook to read the original existing iCal Entourage calendar. I have tried deleting the new calendar it creates from the MacBook but this still doesn't work - it won't read the proper calendar.  - Entourage 2008 hangs over and over again. 2004 does not Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange I recently upgraded to Office 2008 and have been having so much trouble with new Entourage that I gave up and moved back to the 2004 version. The problem is the same as described by several others here. The new version beach balls for minutes at a time whenever it synchs or receives an email. Very frustrating. I have deleted extra versions of the MS DB Daemon and done other non-heroic suggestions provided to others. Nothing helped. I finally gave up and quit using the new version. The old version works just fine. Thank goodness. I have a year's worth of mail in the Exchange server, but it does not phase Outlook or Entourage 2004. The Daemon comes back, so I probably need a a way to root out Entourage 2008 altogether. Hence just wanted to confirm that there is a *bad* problem afoot. If anyone has suggestions for how to return to a pre-2008 world without self spawning demons, suggestions would be much appreciated.  - Database Daemon Fatal Error Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Power PC I recently upgraded my Microsoft Office from 2004 to 2008. I have already downloaded the autoupdates that are available as of today (3/25/08). I am retrieving e-mail from Hotmail to Entourage. It seems to get the mail in my inbox without a problem. However, anytime I try to swtich to another folder (eg. Junk mail, deleted items, sent messages, saved messages), I get the following error message: Database Daemon Fatal Error The Database Daemon has encountered an unknown error. The daemon will need to quit, and Entourage may need to be force quit. I click "OK" and Entourage promptly closes. This happens EVERY time and I have no idea what it means. I tried adding my Hotmail as a new account, thinking something may have happened in the updating from 2004 to 2008, but that did not work. Anyone who has had this and knows how to fix it?  - Entourage 2004 w/Exchange moving mail to my Computer's in Box This just started happening yesterday for a while I thought all my mail was being deleted but after checking all the mail that comes into my inbox on the exchange side gets automatically moved to my computer's inbox. I can't find a logical explanation for this. I checked all my rules in entourage then even disabled the junk mail ones I have but every mail note that comes in gets moved before I even have seen it.  - Rebuilding Entouage database corrupts identity. Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: pop Aloha fro hawaii Everything works fine however when I rebuild the database the new identity that is generated cannot launch. Error message is that it cannot access my data. If I revert to the back up identity it goes back to work. Also outgoing mails stall occasionally and requires a program restart.  - Entourage 2008 WIPED my Address Book & now WILL NOT SYNC Entourage 2008 (12.0.1) Synchronize contacts with Address Book and .Mac (though I don't use .Mac) has been working fine (as it did with Entourage 2004) until today when it suddenly stopped working AFTER it wiped my Address Book contacts! It's the simplest kind of Sync -- just replace my startup disk's Address Book contacts with my startup disk's Entourage contacts (I'm not on a network, or syncing from a peripheral drive, or anything else complicated, and I only have one Entourage identity) -- but it just stopped working. I tried rebuilding permissions, running maintenance scripts and cleaning caches using Onyx 1.9.4b2, and restarting, but nothing helped. Luckily, I was able to restore yesterday's Address Book contacts from my Time Machine disk and then turn Synch Services off. But what is causing this? How do I fix it?  - Cannot Access Exchange Server when outside the LAN Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange I can setup my account in Entourage to access my e-mail. No problem. If I leave the corporate lan and go external, I have difficulty. It says (Offline) and I cannot get it to go back online. I have the server configured as the externally-facing address (mail.domain.com) but it doesn't seem to be able to get online.  - Window Snaps to Top of Screen Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange From time to time, my inbox window repositions itself at the very top of the screen, under the menu bar (!). It's not hard to move it back, but it's annoying. I haven't been able to decipher the exact circumstances that cause it to do this, but I'll watch more closely and see if I can discover a trigger.  - Old Junk not deleting after specified retention I set my iMac Entourage Junk E-mail Protection "delete older than x days" to 4, but it appears that Entourage 2008 doesn't delete except when I exit Entourage. There are currently 6 days of junk in the Junk E-mail folder. Am I missing something? I usually don't logout or exit Entourage unless there is some reason to do so, like installing a software update.  - Archived mail seems to be missing Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC I bought this iMacG4 from "Jerry Hxxxx" last fall. The primary folder (the one with the house icon) has always had his name on it. I used the computer under this primary folder. Last week I made the dumb decision to rename this folder with my name. Once I did that I lost all my Safari bookmarks and all my emails and address book entries. His folder didn't go away, there was just a new one created for me, apparently. But his name still is attached to the "house" icon. I'm wanting to believe that all those emails that I had in that Hopkins folder are still somewhere on this computer. Does this make any sense? is) is so light that I can only just barely see it. I have looked all over
for a way to change the highlight color to something brighter or more
colorful, but have failed. Is there any way to fix this?

No! We have had lots of complaints about this. Send feedback.

When working in Office, you can use the ³Send Feedback² option under the
Help menu in all of the Office applications.
