 - I need to re-install Entourage X I need to re-install Entourage X because it unexpectadly quits a lot and does some other weird things when trying to connect to a mail server. An associate at the Apple Store said that I might have to end up doing this if nothing changed after an archive/install on my mac. Nothing changed, so I need to re-install Entourage X. How do I accomplish this without losing all of my e-mail messages, contacts, calendar dates, etc...?  - Connecting Entourage 2004 to Exchange server Hello all, a new poster here. My company has just switched to MS Exchange server, and I'm not getting Entourage 2004 to connect. I've filled in the exchange server address, but our sysadmin tells me not to worry about filling in the following server fields: LDAP, Public folder, Search base. We are using exchange OWA, if that is of any help. I've looked over the 'working with exchange server' document and still wondering what to try.  - Trouble sending mail with attachments I can send mail. Any mail with an attachment, regardless of the size (even 1k), cannot be sent. I am running Mac OS 10.4.2, and version 11.1 of Entourage. Is there something I can do to troubleshoot this issue? I have a Firewall (Intego NetBarrier), and a spam filter (Intego VirusBarrier), but both are disabled, as is the stock firewall that comes with the Mac OS. Help.  - New Event futziness My apologies for the use of the word "futziness" in the subject line, but it's all I could think to describe the problems I've been having with Entourage 2004 and creating new events in calendar view.* When creating new events, I tab through all the usual boxes, setting up location, start time, but I am having a devil of a time with the end time: it just seems to want to lock up if I tab to the end time and want to either simply type in the end time, the way I did in the start time, or if I want to change anything once it's in: like changing the display from minutes to hours. Instead of calculating the 120 minutes is 2 hours, it bumps the end time to 120 hours. That's just dumb. Or sometimes if I try to set the time, and I don't make it to the AM/PM toggle fast enough, it calculate a negative duration ? and, it just gets ugly. I feel like I regularly am having to wrestle this enough that there is no feature involved, only bugs. Am I alone in facing this? (I'm going to double-check my update now, just to make sure maybe I missed an update that's causing this grief.) Tiger 10.4.2 I'm having trouble on the newsreader for one newsgroup that keeps losing its thread count and old posts are coming up as new, read posts are showing up as unread.  - Exchange: synchronize only specific folders Guys, I've recently upgraded from Entourage X to Entourage 2004 just to improve the Exchange support but I'm really disappointed to find out that there are still lots of issues. In particular, I can't believe there is no way to synchronize only specific folders! My mailbox is quite big (several GBs) but I need to synchronize only a few folders with stuff I need to bring with me when I'm traveling. Is there a workaround or an upgrade to solve this issue?  - importing mail and addresses to mac I have switched from windows to mac, and am trying to import my personal folders and contacts from microsoft outlook 2000 or from outlook express 5.0 to microsoft entourage x. In the file>import and export folder of entourage it looks like I can import from an outlook express identity, however, is this outlook express for mac, or for windows. The pstimport program only works for pst folders created in mac. If I have to import the data via an exchange server, how do I get about setting one up? (I know how to set up the exchange account in entourage, that works, but how do I get the personal folders onto the exchange server, and how to I get them downloaded into entourage?) I have moved all data with the Move2Mac program, and my contacts are now filed in the address book. Would there be a possibility to get them from the address book into entourage?  - Entourage opens for no reason I use Entourage for my work email, and mail.app for my home email. Often I will be using my laptop at home, and Entourage will not be running, and then when I click on a link on a webpage, not an email link, just a page link, Entourage will open for no reason.  - ENTOURAGE 2004 NOT RESPONDING - IMAGES IN MAIL I have a huge problem with entourage. When receivng mails with images within the mail and I klick on the mail - the programme is no longer responding. I get the spinning ball and a forced quit is the only solution. This happens with both junk mails (I have asked entourage to leave attachments on server) and my good mail. This is a huge problem as I receive a rather large amount of messages with images. To solve this I need to make a forced quit, and restart entourage. At the same time is microsoft error reporting not respondin eiither and a forced quit of this is the only solution.any suggestions?  - !! EXCHANGE - ENTOURAGE 2004 PASSWORD/AUTHENTICATION ISSUES !! [ALL POSTS HERE] Hi. Some of you have posted asking whether this issue has been resolved and some have contacted me directly. By working my way through this group earlier today, coupled with my own personal experience and after trying EVERY solution posted to this group - I believe I can confidently say it hasn't. I have seen answers from ranging from "just say no and it'll be fine next time" to "delete entries in keychain", "rebuild database" and the best of all "use OWA" which sort of defeats the object. Furthermore, these types of answers lead me to assume that Entourage 2004 should not have been released prior to these 'issues' being resolved. However, I do recognise that patches and updates to other software can cause instability later on in any products lifecycle. In an effort to get this resolved, I went searching. The only this I could find (directly from Microsoft) was this http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;842882. This seems to suggest that Entourage 2004 does not support NTLM1 authentication or more importantly, "no longer supports NTLM 1 authentication". So..what to do? I would like to get every post (by post i mean 'suggestion of resolution') relating to this subject under a single thread - in that way we can co-ordinate our efforts far more easily (hopefully). Also a common thread may potentially come to the notice of the Mac Business Unit and the developers therein and a fix released. Or heaven forbid - someone will trawl through this and post a solution. Apparently MacFixit or Experts Exchange (i forget which) has a solution but its only available to paid subsribers. If anyone has an account and can "check" - that would be very useful.  - Project Sharing For the most part, the Project Center has been a big help in organizing my jobs. However, the projects I share (on a share drive) do not recognize the changes I make after their initial creation. 1. I create the Project, add tasks 2. I select to Share the Project 3. I invite email other to come in on the Project 4. Others can view the project and make additions or changes. 5. I make changes or additions. The problem: I do not see any changes others are making, they don't see any changes I make to the projects or tasks. We all have access to the project folder on the share drive.  - Cannot import database error 61 error 2 I regularly rebuild my database using the office X utility and transfer the database back and forth from desktop to laptop. Never experienced this problem. When starting Entourage I have the setup assistant come up instead of recognizing the database. When trying to import main identity it comes up with the Error (-61) and Error (2) messages. I tried to rebuild and it creates an office 2004 folder under the Microsoft User Data folder and quickly proceeds but is not working as the new main under office 2004 folder and backup are blank.  - Attachment save and overwrite bug Hi there, I discovered a strange behavior when saving an attachment and overwriting an existing file with it. After the confirmation that I indeed want to overwrite an existing file, the attachment related buttons are inactive. Ctrl-click on the file gives me the context menu and allows me to delete the attachment, after that the buttons are active again.  - How do I delete many rules at once? I've somehow ended up with three copies of all my rules (maybe 30 or so?) I think this happened when importing my old identity after reinstalling Office. The question is how to remove the extra rules. I can't see a way to select more than one at a time, and each time I ask to remove it, a dialog box comes up asking if I'm sure I want to do that. Received an email message the other day from a legitimate publication which contained a .PDF proof document.  - Cannot receive e-mail For the last two days I haven't been able to receive e-mail using Entourage.  - Entourage 2004 - Delegation problem I have set all delegate and folder permissions using Outlook 2003 but in Entourage all I see is the other users Inbox listed. I do not see any subfolders or Sent Items folder. With one user this has always been the case. With another this has happened since performing a database rebuild. On investigation I found that the Documents\MUD\Entourage Temp\ directory was full of 350Meg files amounting to over 5gig. Has anyone else had this???  - PERMANENTLY DELETE JUNK IN ENTOURAGE I have certain rules in the junk filter that makes some messages obvious junk. I have set up the filter to delete theese mails. if I understand this correctly this should permanently delete them. However they are only moved to the trash can. The same happens when I use the trash icon on the menu bar. To permanently delete a mail would be an obvious nice thing as I see no reason to have to first move a junk mail from the junk mail folder and then delete them in the trash folder. Any suggestions?  - Shared calendars mixing with personal calendars Subject: Shared calendars mixing with personal calendars In a small office without an exchange server, we're using shared calendars from the project center to schedule conference rooms, studio schedules, production schedules, etc. I sync my palm pilot to entourage, but I don't want all of the shared schedules in my palm (conf room schedules, etc). Is there a way to have Entourage NOT copy the shared "appointments" into my personal calendar, so they won't sync to my palm? I want to see the appointments when I'm connected to the server (in the office), but I don't want the "public" appointments copied into my "personal" calendar.  - Database damaged daily. . . this started at the beginning of this week. Have been using Entourage for about 5 yrs, most recently 04, and I keep getting the quit. I have rebuilt and then the same thing a day or so later. Any ideas?  - Attachment File Names changing Version: Entourage 2004 Version 11.1.0 Original Filename: CIM 18' wide axle view 7-20-05.pdf The file is attached, sent, and received the filename is then: CIM 18' wide axle view #AD13E.pdf We have used this same type of file names in literally 1000's of drawings, all of which were sent at one time or another via email. A few days ago PDF (Version 6) and XLS (Excel 2004 Version 11.1.1) attachment's filenames were being changed. Some of the filenames changed didn't have dashes or other characters, just letters and/or numbers. All less than 31 characters including spaces. I saw another posting talking about maximum character length supported by Entourage was 31. Any ideas as to why this is happening and what to do to change fix it? I use MSN for my email service and have a few old emails that won't go away.
Everytime I try to delete them I get the message that it will be
automatically deleted by MSN. I even go to webmail and the old emails are
not there, they are just on my computer. Any suggestions?

Hi,
ctrl-/right-click on the folder (inbox?) in the folders list on the
left-hand side and select Refresh Message List from the menu. If that
doesn't do the job, click on the MSN parent folder (again in the folders
list) and select "Empty Cache". You may have to re-download all your
messages, but you should no longer see the ghost e-mails.
