cannot start entourage/ corrupt database (serious issues-bsr)

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC
Email Client: pop

Every time I try to open entourage, I get the following message:
" entourage cannot access your data. To attempt to fix the problem, rebuild your database."

When I click ok, I get the following window offering a typical or advanced rebuild.

After clicking "typical rebuild" option, I get the following message: " compacting failed an unknown error (4356) occurred"

Then I am given the advanced rebuild option. After selecting advanced rebuild, I get the following message " rebuilding failed- an unknown error (4356) occurred"

After clicking ok- I get another message, "rebuilding failed. It is likely that your database cannot be repaired."

I have also used apple disk utility, and tried to reinstall the ms office software but NOTHING IS WORKING!!!

Bottom line. I have to access this database IMMEDIATELY and must salvage this. (I CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE THIS DATA)

I know once I get it opened, I will have to get the database backed up right away, but I need help getting it back open.

If your data is so important, surely you have backups.

Unless you have an Identity you can open there is no way to salvage your
data using Entourage. Were you able to open the original database that you
ran rebuild? If yes, then revert to the backup copy made.

You can try EntourAid.

how do i check to see if i can open any other databases, when i can't even open entourage to begin with?

should i go to the MS user dat file?

Move all Identities out of the Microsoft Identity folder to the desktop
except the one you think will open. Now try to open Entourage. If this does
not work, your only recourse would be to start with a new Identity. Move all
Identities out and let Entourage create a new blank one.

Try using one Identity at a time. If none open, then unless you have backup
or if EntourAid does not work, then you will have to start with a new blank
Identity. This time start a backup regime.

Entourage and Time-Machine-like backup (creates chronological backup of
Identity can be used by both Tiger and Leopard)
