Can I set calendar event times with the keyboard?

Context: Mac OS 10.3.5 and Entourage 2004 (11.0.0)

I'm fairly embarrassed to admit that I can't figure out how to use the
keyboard or keypad to type in the start or end times for a calendar event. I
thought I used to be able to do this, but all of a sudden, the only thing
that works is to use the arrow buttons adjacent to the time boxes.

Any thoughts?

Using v.X, the tab feature works just fine to activate each successive
field. I can't tab into the "all day event" checkbox, but otherwise the
function is active.
