I keep getting error messages the minute I try to get my mail from a Domino
6.5 server under IMAP in Entourage 2004.

There's an unusual combination for you! Alan, what kind of errors are
you getting?

Cheers,

I am getting "The server's response is missing a command", error 17495.
When attempting to connect. The Domino server works just fine under Apple
Mail and any other IMAP-aware mail application, but not Entourage 2004. I
understand there was a fix for Entourage v.X but no joy with the new
version.

There's nothing fancy going on with the connection - no security (like TLS)
or anything like that - just a flat refusal to connect.

The Domino server is 6.5 on Linux

Any thoughts?

I have exactly the same problem as described below.

The only difference is that the domino server runs on Windows 2000

OK, new twist on this...

Currently I have Entourage working on a Domino 6.5.2 server (no
problems), not so on a Domino 6.5.1 server however, (get's error or
getting mail, but will send mail) and not 5.0.11 (can't connect past
password). Same client (my Powerbook G4, 640mb, Entourage 2004, and
OS X 10.3.4 )

I found that we did require a firewall change to get the client to
connect to the Domino 6.5.2 server before that would work from outside
the office, but with the 6.5.1 server on the same network as my client
was that won't be the problem.

Both the 6.5.x servers are running on Windows 2003, and the Windows
2000 for the R5.x server. Out of interest I did also try this on a
6.5.1 server on Turbo Linux, and this wouldn't work any better....
than the Windows 2003 server.

I have same problem - I am trying to look at what the network is saying=20
each way during negotiation. I have Domino 6.5.1 on Windows 2000 and=20
Entourage 2004 on OS X 10.3.4.

I did notice that the authentication IS taking place (try putting in the =
wrong=20
password and look at the resultant error message). I wonder what the=20
entourage client sends after this and what response from the server -=20
network sniffer to the test I think...

...I have logged with Microsoft but the Office team could not resolve =
and=20
passed it on to the Pro support team (which means bug fix and wait for =
the=20
update... ...watch this space...)

I'm having the same problem. It's frustrating. I get an error about an
"expected" message wasn't received or something. I finally get my IT
guys to give me IMAP access and I can't get it to work with Entourage.
Mail.app works fine, so I just have it get my Notes mail and redirect
it to my .mac account, but that's a crude workaround for something like
this. Come on MS! Get with it.
