 - Duplicate Spotlight results from Entourage and Apple apps Is there a way to restrict Spotlight to returning address or calendar results from Entourage only - not from iCal or Apple Contacts? Any person search seems to bring up multiple duplicate entries from Apple contacts as well as the same entry from Entourage Address book (same thing for iCal and Entourage). Isn't there a way to specify that I want Entourage results only? If I uncheck contacts or Calendar from the Spotlight preferences, I don't get ANY address or calendar results returned.  - sending and receiving from entourage Hello i am a new macbook pro user in Bejing where there is no support I transferred files from Outlook to Entourage--docments, addresses and the like. I have email through Yahoo and Mac Mail. I cannot sent a file from Entourage. The prompt that pops up says that Entourage does not recognize a secure servr which I believe is Yahoo. At other times I get a prompt that says I can sent through macmal os2x but I cannot find a way to link the say word file in Entourage for sending that route either. I can send from word with cut and paste. But Outlook was so streamlined I could just send. Apple in the US says call an 800 number. Calls from here are 2.99 a minute unless Apple will schedule an IChat with me.  - Entourage doesn't display folders Hello Strange problem appeared recently. Entourage doesn't keep anymore the setting that displays the folders (in the display menu) so it's necessary to set it after each launch. Same problem on 3 Macs in different locations (they use the same database located on an external HD and reached via aliases). Rebuiding the base didn't fix the problem, neither trashing the prefs files. (Macs running 10.4.10 and Entourage 11.3.6) Any idea ?  - cannot move bulk/junk message I received a [bulk] message today in Entourage, so I tried to move it to the junk folder. However, each time I tried to either move it or even delete it, a prompt appeared: "The action could not be completed. An unknown error (16002) has occurred." I was able to delete other messages, or move them to the junk folder. I even exited Entourage and restarted it. But this one won't budge. How can I get rid of the troublesome message? Thanks!  - Problems with Entourage database. Dear members: Last night a message appeared on screen stating that my Entourage database was damaged and asking if I wished to have it repaired. The same message had appears approximately 1 week ago but I chose not to rebuild the database at the time. Last night after reading the message for the second time I decided to act on it. I first backed the entire MUD folder to another disk and then proceeded to repair the database. The process was quite time consuming (I had it done using my 3-year old Powerbook G4) but at the end a message was displayed stating that the repair procedure was successful. After the database was rebuilt I launched Entourage and noticed that it didn't not return to the same state it was in prior to the rebuilding process. Many e-mails that had already been read were marked as not read, the settings for my newsgroups had been lost and (worst of all) many e-mails had been moved to different folders. Also some of the e-mails that had already been downloaded were downloaded a second time from my mail server. I thought the problem had been addressed but the same message that appeared before just now appeared again stating that there is a problem with my database. After running the database utility it failed to acknowledge any problems and stated that the database is functioning properly. What generated the initial message ? Is it possible that it may have been wrong just as it is now ? In case this is what happened I would like to go back to my backed-up database as the new one (the one after the rebuild process) has been altered and some information has been lost. Any ideas ?  - Assigning Categories Hello I would like to assign a newly created category to a number of emails. These are located in various subfolders within one main folder. Is there a way for me to assign a category to all emails in every subfolder within a folder? Or do I have to assign every subfolder and all emails separately? I know I can "select all" emails within a subfolder and assign the category to all those, but I am wanting to assign this new category to thousands of emails. Surely there must be a way to select a folder and tell Entourage to apply the category to the folder and all of its contents, including subfolders? Grrrr.... Seems like such a simple intuitive function to offer, but I can't find it. Any help or suggested workarounds would be greatly appreciated! Joe.  - Please help: Select Entourage Calendar...database daemon takes Running Entourage 11.3.6 (fully updated). When I select the calendar (or projects), first just the date (October 2007) paints on screen - and then the app hangs. The database daemon maxes the CPU. Entourage is frozen, and I have to quit the daemon from the Activity Monitor. If I don't select the calendar, email works fine (and notes and tasks). Running Mac OS10.4.10 Rebooting doesn't help. Disabling notifications and all sync services does not help. Database Utility reports no problems with the database. Help!!!! Leading up to the problem, I was trying to newly sync my iCal to Entourage. I had just labeled all the events I wanted in Entourage to the Entourage "category" in iCal. And I turned on Sync Services for iCal inside of Entourage. Also, just recently added a MS Exchange email account, although this problem did not occur right after this. Welcome any help.  - Accessing Mail and Calendar from more than 1 computer I admit I'm kind of ignorant on some issues. I use Entourage for my e- mail. I also use two computers - one at work and one in home office. Once e-mail is collected by entourage on one of the computers, it is gone from the server and can not be acessed by the other computer through enourage OR the server. Hi, I'm using Entourage 2004 to access my Hotmail account and I was wondering if there was a way to automatically delete items in the 'Deleted Items' folder? When I select 'Schedules' (under Tools) the 'Empty Deleted Items Folder' only works for folders on my computer and I cannot set it to folders on my Hotmail account.  - Suddenly, Entourage can't "find" keychain login to store password I have been using Entourage 2004 with Mac OS 10.4.10. Suddenly, each time I open Entourage, I get this message: Keychain "login" can not be found to store "my email address". Then it asks me if I want to reset to defaults. I tried that.  - Slow Entourage performance after Exchange mailbox move I'm having problems with Entourage 2004 running slow after their Exchange mailboxes were moved to a new Exchange server within the administrative group. After doing some research, I discovered that this is a known issue with the way the mailbox move function works. It converts the messages that were stored in MIME format for Entourage to MAPI format, which requires the Exchange server to do a lot of extra processing whenever the converted messages are accessed. Exchange does this on-the-fly after the mailbox move - the information store is never updated. Some of our users have large mailboxes of historical messages that they refer to often, so this has caused a major issue. The server can slow to a crawl when more than a few people are in Entourage. I have only found 2 documents discussing this issue, and neither of them completely resolved the problem. It sounds like once the old messages are converted to MAPI, there's no going back. I'm wondering if there is ANY way to improve the performance of Entourage when accessing these converted messages, beyond the Microsoft recommendations. For instance, is there any way to reconvert the MAPI messages back into MIME? Perhaps a 3rd party utility?  - Entourage wan't start after a Repair & Compact Hi all, I use Entourage 2004 (v11.3.3) and have been since version 2001. Never felt any need to use at another eMail/PIM :-) I usually make regular backups, but had space problems and therefor the last backup was about a year ago. Upon solving my space problems (bought some more hard disks for backing up my 60Gb). I thought I would repair and compact the Entourage database (~7GB) after remove the exchange connection due to some emails that could not be opened or deleted. That reduced it down to 2.7 GB :-), but Entourage wouldn't start :-(. A stack-trace-call-home window appears. I had moved the "Old Database" file to another disk, but something went wrong and it is now gone (AAARRRGGHHH!) Sooooo, did a little googling and deleted prefs, made a new identitiy, restored the one year old backup and got that running. However, all attempts (repairs, compacts, pref deletions, sw reinstall) to get the original database file to be accepted fail with a stack trace without any entourage specific error codes. I could probably live with the current state if there weren't several messages and contacts that I would very desperately need. I read in a forum somewhere in the middle of the night where a Entourage developer stated that "there is no 2004 db that could not be repaired".  - Entourage 2004 and Proxy Server Hi, I've recently switched from Entrourage X to Entourage 2004. Previously, I needed to re-configure my proxy settings in Entourage X within Entourage each time I moved from location to location. (That WAS a pain!) Now, with Entrouage 2004, there are no options to configure for proxies within for Entourage and I can only connect to pick up mail (IMAP, POP) if I have NO proxy between me and the 'Net. This is ALSO a pain! Note that I can configure proxies within OS X 10.4 Network settings for general web applications, but do not see an option within those settings that pertains to email -- IS there a method to make this work, or do I need to re-configure my connection direct to the Net each time I want to work with email? Too much work for such a simple task! Would really like to see this sorted out in short order --- and trust that similar issues won't be present in Entourage 2008 ....  - Moving from POP to IMAP I used to have a POP account, and all my messages were downloaded to Entourage. Now I am switching to IMAP since I will be moving around more often and don't want to have to move the messages from one computer to another. Anyway, creating the IMAP account is no problem. But, when I upload the messages to the IMAP account from my computer, it updates the dates on all the messages? We just recently switched our email providers to an Exchange server and hav= e been having problems sending jpegs, (they show up either corrupted or empt= y). While trouble shooting with the new provider, they asked that I first rebui= ld the database, (which I did – made no difference), and then that I s= witch identities, (they took me through the steps).  Upon doing this, a= ll my subfolders, (in which were archived all of my emails for the past two = years!), have disappeared.  I was told to import them back in, but have= searched my computer and have not found anything.  Opening past databa= ses just opens Entourage again, with no change.  - Problems with deleted mail box. I appologise if this has been asked before but a quick search did not come up with anything. When I open my deleted box I find three deleted emails and the rest of the window is greyed out. If I click on various sections of this grey area I find a deleted message. For some reason, nothing to do with Entourage, my network connection experiences occasional drops, lasting one or more minutes. In the mean time, the following utility can extract the original
attachments.

PS. You may want to alert the sender not to send you RTF messages
since this is the most likely culprit for causing the winmail.dat
problem.
