    - External Newsgroups? I have never used a newsgroup before, and I just got Entourage 2004 (with office) and I realized that I know of a couple of local newsgroups that I would love to be able to take part in, but webmail is not very newsgroup friendly. So my question is, (how) can I subscribe to a newsgroup not listed under microsoft.something.or.other? Like a LLuG? (PLuG north for me...) I relaunch, try to open or delete the email and the same thing happens. The only way I can proceed is to wait until I have a message on either side of the problematic email and delete all three.     - Help I am switching from xp to my first mac. i have been working on the computer to try and figure out how to switch mail from outlook express for a total of 6 days. Everything I tried did not work and I did loose some of my old emails after importing/exporting. Then I bought some software to make it a breeze and after I downloaded transferred etc, it did not work for "outlook express". I'm tired, so I will just send the emails the old way (too bad I didn't do it sooner) Anyway, before I do that, I have been reading about "users", If I create another account, can my husband have his own account when he logs on?     - Exchange Data Not Displayed (Except Calendar) Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange I just set up Entourage 2004 to sync with my exchange server at work. Everything appears to go properly except that I can't see the data in any folder except the Calendar. Calendar entries work perfectly with two-way sync. I can add and remove Calendar entries from Entourage and from Outlook and everything stays in sync just fine. Everything else is kind of a jumble. All of my email folders appear in Entourage and the properties show that the data has transferred (the size of the folders on Entourage and on my Outlook client are essentially the same), but clicking on the inbox or any other folder (including contacts) gives me the message "There are no messages in this folder". Also, I can send emails from Entourage and it clearly goes properly through my Exchange account (including attaching the automatic signature from my company), but I get an error message when Entourage tries to put it in the Sent folder. I tried adding a contact an got an error when it tried to sync the contacts, so that never made it to the Exchange side (the error reads: "Could not synchronize record: <contact name> to Exchange server: <server name>"). I've tried using the OWA server as well as using the ActiveSync server that I use to sync my handheld and get the same results. I've checked every setting and property I could think of to no avail.     - entourage 2008 suddenly stopped communicating with exchange server Hi - problem connecting/synchronizing with exchange server. I have entourage 2008 , and whenever i click send/receive, or synchronize now, nothing happens. the progress window stays blank. i removed the account, rebuild the database, recreated the account, now i lost all my folders. i cannot receive any email, its all blank (no folders). cannot access public folders or anything. i have outlook 2007 on another pc, i am able to access exchange server fine. i also have another mac with entourage 2008 , and it works fine. so how can i fix the entourage thats not working? i dont understand. i rebuilt the database, cleared the cash, and still it seems like its not connecting to the server. any help would be greatly appreciated!     - regarding downloading email from Exchange Server to Local folder Hi, All. I just switched from XP to MAC for few weeks, everything works fine and its cool! I once used outlook2007 in XP to connect to company exchange server and received emails from server to local PST file and never keep copies on the server. Now when using Entouage, I have no problem setting up a exchange account and connect to the server, but the problem is how could I make local fold as default account and download emails from Exchange server to these folers, leave no copy on server?     - Upgrade Entourage 2008 crashing system Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC Email Client: pop I just purchased and installed Office Mac because my old Entourage crashed and burned. Since installation (less than 2 weeks), my computer was running slower. In the past week, my computer froze 3 times when I was using Entourage, and today, when I opened and started to use Entourage, I had a FULL--blue screen--CRASH of the whole system! After 2 hours of problem-solving trial & error, I FINALLY got my G5 up & running. I KNOW that the new software is causing the problem, because it is the ONLY installation since the trouble started. Entourage is my favorite email app., but I can't deal with these crashes. I don't want to lose EVERYTHING! What do I need to do to insure that Entourage is stable?     - Best Way to Upgrade to Office 2008 Entourage So.... I'm willing to give Entourage 2008 a try. Currently I have Office 2004 installed and am using iMail and AddressBook because the SnycService in Entourage didn't cut it. Now, if anbody can comment on the following issues, I'd be most obliged: 1.) How can I delete Entourage 2004 from my computer? I don't use the application anyway. 2.) I will only install Entourage 2008 and no other 2008 apps. Can I expect any problems? Currently I'm planning to proceed like this: A.) Starting at Office 2004 11.3.1, install XML converter B.)     - Word User Information and Entourage Address Book I have a somewhat unusual problem that I've encountered in trying to move to Entourage 2008 from Apple Mail that involves Entourage picking up information from Word 2008's settings and creating a conflict for my address book. I am a writer and am currently going through an electronic edit of my latest book in Word 2008 with my publisher. We are using track changes. My publisher asked me to change my Word User Information to read "Author" as opposed to my name, because this electronic version will be seen by many people and they were trying to make it clear to the team which initials were the author's. (They are using Windows Word, which I guess uses the initials more than names.) So when I make an edit or add a comment in the manuscript, the comment balloon shows "Author Author" (I have to enter both a first name and surname in the Word User Information setting.) All was going fine until yesterday, when I decided to move my emails to Entourage 2008 from Apple Mail. All emails sent from the email address listed in the Word User Information were relabeled to being by "Author Author" and any emails sent from that account (before I discovered the problem) were listed as coming from "Author Author". I deleted the email address from Word User Information, found the address contact for my real name, and used the "This Is Me" option under the Contact menu in Entourage to tell it that my real name was me, not Author Author. I thought this had solved it, but re-entering the Author Author name in Word User Information is creating another Entourage Address Book entry as Author Author, that thinks it again is me, and is in fact "trumping" my real name address book entry. I know this is an unusual situation, but is there any way to tell Entourage not to use the Word User Information setting? I need to stay "Author Author" in the Word User Information setting for the next few weeks; which seems to preclude using Entourage with my real name. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.     - Deliberately delay a message Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop I want to type a message now (Saturday evening) but, as it's going to a work address, I want to delay its delivery until Monday morning, because I know then its recipient will be guaranteed to receive it (for some reason he doesn't always get messages sent when his work system is switched off. He is, IIRC, running XP (could be 2003) and Outlook (version unknown)). I'm pretty certain that delivery delay is a feature in Outlook (I only use it very rarely these days - my parents have a Winblows XP box running Office '07, and I'm pretty certain that my father has used it on occasion for the same reason that I wish to use it now). Why not just wait until Monday, I hear you ask? Well, there are a couple of reasons: - 1) The bloke I'm emailing works for a radio station and has only limited time to access his email (usually between 8:30 and 10am) and I want him to be sure to receive it. 2) I have health problems which mean that it takes me longer than it would most people to compose an email, and doing it at the weekend allows me the time to compose it without feeling hurried.     - Entourage 2004 - receiving email text in code Has anyone had any problems with receiving email in code? I just recently installed MS Office 2004 on my Mac. I'm using OS X 10.4.11, Powerbook/PowerPC G4. Many, but not all email messages received, are coming in as funky text that looks like code, but it's all jumbled about. Yet, when I reply to the message, the text shows up fine. Images and attachments show up fine in the original message. It's just the text. And it doesn't seem to be text or HTML affected. A friend had said she wrote her text in Word, copy and pasted, and when I received it - had that funky coding show up instead of her text. That's the only feedback I've received so far. Any Ideas?     - Multiple Calendars or Category Sync Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: imap Entourage desperately needs the ability to sync multiple calendars with iCal or at least put in a conduit for the categories in Entourage to sync as multiple calendars in iCal. There is no way to utilize Mobile Me/iCal with multiple calendars from Entourage! I use different colors in iCal for my different calendars for quick recognition. I then have all of my calendars and contacts pushed to my iPhone and Outlook 2007 PC via Mobile Me. As it is now, Entourage only syncs its complete calendar to ONE calendar in iCal...thus taking away all ability for quick reference in my iPhone and Outlook 2007. Contactizer Pro from Objective Decision has the functionality where the categories in Contactizer are synced to iCal as separate calendars and their respective "colors" are kept intact. This allows for perfect sync with my other clients. All this to say...it's definitely possible for this to happen... Please...if anyone from Microsoft reads these posts...add this to the next software update! Those of us with Mobile Me and iPhones could REALLY use it!     - Entourage Databse problems I have a user who has just recieved a new computer (2.4 GHz intel macbook w/ 2G RAM, OS10.5.4; old computer was 1.25 Ghz PPC emac, 512M RAM, 10.3.9) and I ran the User migration tool from the macbook to transfer his data and programs. Entourage 2004 was having problems loading so I ended up trashing it and reinstalling. Entourage is connected to an exchange 2003 server. The problem I am having is on his old computer he had a number of folders and addresses that were stored locally, not on the exchange server, so I went and copied the identity from the old computer onto the new computer and then switched identities. Well he started having the same problems wehre Entourage never seemed to load his mailbox. I looked at the Activity monitor and see that Entourage wants to use 1.3G of memory. The db file is just under 4G in size. Could there be a memory issue or a corrupt DB? I have rebuilt the db and there is no change, it still has problems loading. I do not think he has hit the 2,000,000 item limit of Entourage, but I do know that he has just over 1,900 folders in his "folders on my computer" section. The old computer work just fine, it is just slow in transitioning from mail to calendar, it takes about 30 sec to finish. but it does not like it on the new computer.     - Are there still sync services conflicts As far as I know the conflicts that happen in Entourage have not been rectified. I find that if I enable more than one module my calendar gets completely messed up. So I only have calendar enabled and it sync's perfectly. Previously, if I enabled say addressbook or notes or both, eventually the calendar would just get completely messed up. I'm afraid to test this due to the amount of work involved fixing it but I know how to do this. What are people's experience with multiple modules enabled and then sync'g to say a Palm or Blackberry.     - Where is this schedule coming from? I am running Entourage 2008 (updated to 12.1.2) on a Macbook running OS X 10.5.4. Each time I quit Entourage, I get an alert saying 'The schedule "Empty Junk E-Mail Folder" will now delete mail from the folder "Junk E- mail".' It gives me the options "OK" and "Cancel". However, if I click on a Contact in the Address Book and click "New", the "Group" option is hightlighted and I am able to create a Group that way. I proceeded with an advanced rebuild, which BTW, I have only done once before without problem. Upon completion Entourage opens as if I were a new user. ALL data including contacts, emails, calendars, signatures, etc. are gone! There is no other identity to which I can switch. I tried moving the "old DB" into the "Main Identity" folder but, to no avail. The folder shows 1.39 GB, but I can't seem retrieve the data. This is a DISASTER! I also use an iPhone which syncs using mobileme. Because I use entourage, all of my appointments are in the entourage calendar (and not iCal) so to get them on the iPhone, I have to sync my entourage calendar with iCal. That all worked fine until I ran an automatic Mac OS X update. After that update each of my appointments were duplicated in both entourage and iCal. That took some time to clean up in entourage so I deactivated the sync to iCal and just left the duplicates in iCal. Have I done something wrong when setting this up or is there a bug? If there is a right way to do this, how do I first remove all the appointments from iCal before syncing with entourage? Any help would be appreciated. Im working in an almost all Win PC XP enviroment, but we have 3 Mac's all running MS office for Mac 2008. I can't access the exchange global adressbook, that holds all contacts in the company and i can't see fellow workers calenders and therefore invite them to meetings.
The "funny" thing is, that it used to work, but after a complete reinstalle of both OS X Leopard and MS Office 2008 it stopped working. One of my colleques can access both. When checking the Entourage prefs set-up, it looks like they are identical. Any suggestions, is it sys prefs or do i need to change anything in my Enturage set-up?

The GAL information comes from your LDAP server and the free/busy
information comes from the Public folders server. Have a look at these
instructions for configuring an Exchange account in Entourage:
