It supports Japanese quite well. Just use the Language Register utility, and
this activates a whole range of Japanese proofing tools and input features
(like vertical text).
Chinese is more problematic, but apparently doable. Visit Yale's

Chinese Mac Home. Here you will find advice mostly for Chinese, but there
are related connections for Japanese and Korean--and enabling the Japanese
proofing tools in Office vX is required to get Chinese to work after a
fashion.
I understand the next upgrade for Office will be unicode compliant, which
should alleviate problems with Chinese and Korean.
