Can Word '08 be used as the text editor for Entourage?

Hello,

I'm used to using Outlook (email) in Windows and for the last several
versions you could set it up to use Word as its text editor. It was called
WordMail. You had full control to use all the formatting available in Word
for all your emails (HTML of course) With Office 08 for Mac will Entourage
and Word work similarly? Can Word be the text editor for Entourage?

Nope, and if you ask me, that's a good thing. HTML email is evil for
many many reasons, perhaps most importantly because it's rude to assume
others will want to read your messages in *your* preferred font styles
and sizes than their own, but also because HTML email is typically 2-4
time larger than plain text, which means your messages will take longer
to transfer and take more disk space as well.

Hi Jeff,

the answer is: sort of. You can't use Word and Entourage in the same way
that you can use Word and Outlook; Word does not tie in to Entourage and
therefore cannot be used as a text editor for e-mail messages. At the same
time, you can compose a message in Word using all kinds of fancy formatting
(tables, hyperlinks, highlighted text, etc.), and when you're done, simply
click on File>Send To>Mail Recipient (as HTML). This will generate a message
in Entourage which you will not be able to edit any more; however, the
message will retain all of the formatting applied in Word. The same feature
works for Excel 2008 and Entourage, too. Note: this feature is only
available if Entourage is defined as your default e-mail client.
