How do I delete old Recipients that are NOT in my address book?
I have sent and received emails in the past to my competitors back
when they were allies. Although they are not in my address book
several of their first names are the same as people I email on a daily
basis. Entourage opens a drop box of addresses while you type your
recipients name in. Mixed in the list are names of my competitors with
a yellow @ logo not the little blue guy from my address book. I want
to delete those shortcuts from the drop box menu but I can't figure
out how!
I wouldn't want to accidentally send private info directly to my
competitors!!!!

I recently converted my palm contacts, calender, to do's and tasks as
well as outlook mail to entourage. Everything is working fine with
one exception... In palm desktop you can select a contact and print a
single label or envelope. In entourage you have to export the contact
to word. Is there a way to print a single label or a single contact

Entourage script
OK, I've cobbled together an applscript, that is supposed to take an
incoming message or incoming messages and attach them to an outgoing
message to report spam.
This is what I've come up with, but Entourage says "Entourage got an
error. Some data was the wrong type."
It composes the outgoing message correctly, and works until and unless
the <attachment:currentMessages> is included. Then it generates the
error. The list of properties is all on one line in the Script Editor,
but my newsreader insists on breaking it into two lines.
This is the script:

EntourageX and Exchange viewing others calendars
Has anyone using EntourageX with an Exchange server been able to get
the Free/Busy feature to view other employees calendars to work?
We have been able to get and receive mail, view own calendar, have
Global Address book working but can not get the feature to view others
calendars in an invite. Have worked with our third party e-mail
vendor admin and he believes it may not be working because we have a
port blocked. So is there any work around or has anyone ever got this
feature going?
I'm a desktop support person who does not know much about Apples but
we have 15 users that want to use their new EntourageX for their
e-mail client. If this is a bug in the program I wish someone would

when i try to open entourage i get the following error:

The "Entourage Temp" folder could not be ffound. It is likely that you
have a file with the same name or an alias that doesn't point to a
folder.
I only have one folder called entourage temp and it is empty, could
ayone help me as i can't access my main email.

Entourage / Palm Addrss Book Sort
My addresss book on my Palm Tungsten T does not sort alphabetically=20
by company name. It does so with the Palm software. I have spent=20
months arguing with Palm over this issue. Palm replaced the unit=20
(twice) but this is NOT a hardware issue. I have several hundred=20
contacts in the address book with catagories set up by state and that=20
works ok but the alphabetical sort for each state (or the group at =
large)=20
does not sort correctly when using Entourage. Have dumped the Palm=20

Entourage X freezing
Fairly often, but with no apparent pattern. Entourage will freeze i.e. a
message will not open and I cannot move to any other message. One of the
symptoms seems to be a corruption of the database but if I quit Entourage
and reopen nothing appears corrupted.
Rebuilding in the database does not prevent this freezing behavior.
Recently, I accidentally discovered another method for extricating from the
frozen state. Instead of quitting Entourage, I open a new mail window which
behaves normally.
Has anyone else experienced this random freezing? Is there a cause? Why do

Spell check
I have Entourage X (10.1.4) with OS X (10.2.6) and the spell check
stopped working. i made sure that custom dictionary is selected and
the language is set to none, but it still doesn't work. I ran 'repair
permissions' on the startup disk, still the spell checker doesn't
work. It just displays spell checking complete but without doing
anything. I then tried moving Library\Preferences\Microsoft to the
desktop, but don't see a folder Microsoft listed. Do I need to replace
it? If so, how? If that fails, do I need to uninstall Office and
re-install it? If I do that, is there anyway to save my old email?

Calendar Colors

Group Folders
I have connected entourage to exchange, but under public folders-
group calendars...these are messages and not calendars. The free/busy
data is being updated, after creating an appointment and inviting a
user account to the appointment it is updated on both ends and
reminders are activated. My question is why can't I see the group
calendar as calendars? I set this up without ssl...could that be why?

Entourage X says I don't have enough disk space to rebuild the database
which is not true. Now, the database is about 5 GB. Could this be causing

Rules: "Play Sound" Limitations
By default, you can only choose one of like four sounds to play upon
satisfying a rule. How can you increase the number of sounds for this
purpose?
Are these four sounds a subset of one's larger body of "alert" sounds? It's
confusing, because I've got some different sets in User --> Documents -->
Microsoft User Data --> Entourage Sound Sets -- but that doesn't change this
particular menu at all, it seems.

Is there a way to send an automatice reply to your senders notifying
them that you are out of the office and unble to check any email

Conduit Manager CRASHING!!!
Conduit Manager crashes after trying a long time to HotSync. The crash
occurs while En-rage is trying to synchronize my calendar between my
Handspring Visor Neo and my G4 tower running OS X 10.2.8.
It's not immediately clear what, if any, portion of the data has been
successfully synced and what has failed.
Anybody having a similar experience?

Complex HTML crash
Recently, Entourage has been crashing ("unexpected quit") whenever I try
to display an HTML e-mail. I unchecked the "display complex HTML in
messages" checkbox in Preferences and it works fine, except, of course,
that HTML mail now appears as plain text and is thus very difficult to read.
I have updated to 10.2.8 on this computer (Powerbook G4 667) but not on
my others, and I don't have the problem on the others. So I'd guess it
may be a result of the 10.2.8 update, although this is the ONLY problem
with 10.2.8 that I have been able to detect.
Does anyone know if this is a known symptom of 10.2.8? If so, is there a
workaround so I don't have to revert to 10.2.6, which is tedious (I
recently formatted my hard drive and reinstalled everything, so I don't
feel like going through a system reinstall again!)? If not from 10.2.8,
what could be causing it? I've cleansed the hard drive with a
permissions rebuild and a DiskWarrior directly replacement. Office X is
fully updated to 10.1.5.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hide Six Buttons in Upper Left Corner?
Other than toggling the Hide Folders arrow, is it possible to hide or reduce
the size of the six buttons in the upper lefthand corner of the Mail panel?
I really prefer the Hidden state for the folders, but I'd still like to be
able to navigate the folders and subfolders without expanding to the
wasteful "Unhidden" view.

Offlline action synchronization problem
Dear all
Have a recurring problem with entourage informing me that it wishes to synch
offline actions...
This happens every time I do something that requires communication between
my computer and the IMAP mail server.
Problem started 2 days ago when I did some offline actions which I then
synched at next plug-in the the network.
I have reinstalled and updated office and entourage, moved the files in
identities around etc and it seems that the "instruction" for this problem
lies within the database.
As I see it I either have a few actions that it tries (but cannot complete)
all the time when there is a open line between the IMAP server and my
computer or then I have managed to tweak some setting that basically tells
Entourage to behave as if I was "offline" all the time and only perform
"recorded" actions.
Is there any way of hitting entourage over the head so that it reverts to
default settings and forgets about all recorded actions?

Bouncing dock icon every five minutes (even without new mail) driving me crazy!
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this problem that is
driving me crazy. The entourage dock icon bounces a lot - even when
there is no new email. It seems to do it every time there is a
communication error (which happens every 5 minutes or so, and is
illustrated by the yellow yield sign in the bottom right hand of the
entourage window). This is driving me crazy, on top of all the other
problems with this lame attempt at a client. I am sadly thinking of
going back to Outlook in classic - at least this is a real solution.
Is there any way to turn this feature off, or better yet, is there any
way for this program to stop having communication errors every five
minutes?
Any help would be most appreciated!

Unread mail stays in 1 even if no unread messages
Has anyone run into this problem where the exchange in tray shows one unread
message? I only get it with Entourage, not with the 2001 outlook client. I
rebuilt the database but the "unread one" stays put. Any suggestions? I

i have my office email routed through entourage in both IMAP and POP
form. funny thing is that the IMAP version is working just fine but
the POP account will not receive any incoming messages.

SOLUTION! to weird font that defied Office X preference removals
Thanks to the persistent research and trial-and-error efforts of Brad H.,
who experienced the same problem of weird font with jammed-together
characters in Entourage, the solution to the problem has been found.
The problem was not resolved by removing Entourage and other Microsoft
preferences, as I attempted to do. Nor was it resolved by un-installing
everything in Office X and re-installing everything from the CD and
subsequent updates, as was suggested in this newsgroup. Nor was it solved
in creating a new identity as another suggested. Even a call to Microsoft
Tech Support by Brad H. stumped the experts there.
Brad's solution, which works for me, too, is:
Open System Preferences. Click on General Preferences. Then go down to
bottom to Font Smoothing Style. Set ³turn off font smoothing for _______

Shared Calendar and Calendar View in Entourage v.X with Exchange
Hi,
I am a IT tech support at work (non-profit organization) and in one
of the departments, public relations, they are the only ones using
Macs. They have been using Outlook for years before we, as an IT
department, helped them to migrate to OS X and to Office v.X
Here is our situation: We have a Exchange 2000 server that is
configured with Outlook Web Access. The Public Relations department
wants to get away from Mac OS 9 and Outlook 2001 environment into
Entourage v.X with OS X.
I have installed an Exchange update 10.1.4 and they can get email
from the Exchange server just fine, but the calendar functions do not
quite match up to Outlook 2001.
For some reason, they cannot view the public shared calendar in a
calendar view, like seeing the entire month. How can you view the
monthly view and not in email-looking list format?
Also, when they make a new entry into the calendar, it only puts in
the local calendar, nobody else can view the shared calendar, unless
it is an invite.
The invite option does not meet the PR needs because in Outlook, the
IT department can set permissions on who can view, change, delete,
that sort of thing. The PR dept has a few members outside the
department that can only read or add events, but do not have the
privilege to change or delete, for example.
So, the PR department needs to view the calendar in a monthly
format, able to add events for everyone can see for different people
with different access permissions. This can be done in Windows. Macs
with this functionality can be done only in MacOS 9 and with Outlook
2001.
This is critical situation as PR are having difficulties using OS 9
in a classic environment to check their email and doing calendar work.
They crash often and freezes. They do most of their work on OS X on
projects, so using Entourage for them is imperative.
I would appreciate for any information on this.

Error -17599 KICKS ASS!
I already posted about this error when trying to recieve mail from a
Hotmail account using Entourage X (upgraded to 10.1.4 030702 using
the 10.1.5 and all previous updaters)...so I tried what used to work just fine,
namely Outlook Express 5.0.3. Same error. Fine, maybe it needs to be
upgraded...download OE 5.0.6. SAME ERROR.
Error -17599 = expected data from Hotmail missing RULES, DOOD!
It kicks ass on the Mac! You can SEE your hotmail messages, but
you can't HAVE them on your hard disk!
Hats off to MSN and Microsoft for another triumph!

Hi Y'all;
I have been unable to use Entourage for Hotmail accounts...which seems like a
common (and very ironic, given that both are Microsoft products) problem. I
get a unique error, #-17599
Could not retrieve mail from the account "[name]"
Expected data from the Hotmail server is missing.
I've tried the Microsoft website, upgrading all of my Office X components (to
10.1.5, or whatever the 10.1.5 updater leaves them at), and trying to fiddle
with various settings...to no avail. Is this a "feature" of the new MSN X for
Mac OS X? Am I going to have to drop $80 every three months to lease
MSN X software to use my "free" hotmail account? Lovely to have bought
Entourage...and to find it useless for its primary mission on my computer,
namely, to download emails from Hotmail to my hard disk.
Is there any way to download Hotmail emails _without_ 1) cutting and pasting
them individually into Word docs, or 2) forwarding them all to a POP or IMAP
account that I _can_ get access to?
Sorry about the bitter tinge to this...hope someone can suggest something.

HELP!!! My Entourage has been RESET!!!!!!!!!!
I have had a very unfortunate thing happen to me. I left work on
Friday and all was great. I booted my computer up on Saturday, and
everything in my Entourage was GONE!!! All my email, all my Contacts,
All my Tasks... You get the picture. The only thing there was the
"Welcome to Microsoft Entourage" message.
Has anyone ever seen this before? If so, is there a way to get back
all of my information? I am running Microsft Entourage 10.1.4; Mac Os
10.2.6. the computer is a PowerBook G4.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Also, where are the Entourage files kept? I would like to know this,
so that I can make back-ups in the future.
