I thinking of using an alias for MUD, to get it out of my users folders and
onto my data files on my primary data external HD, but want to ask others
opion. Alais break, right? Would you all recommend/or not recommend?

Well if the alias breaks, all you need to do is re-create it.
You could use a symlink instead, but it's more complicated and does not
seem to bring any additional benefit. Several people here ahave reported
that they were doing just fine with aliases.
