 - Cannot connect to Exchange Server 2007 with Entourage (OWA works) Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange I currently receive a 'Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.' error when I attempt to connect to my school's Exchange 2007 server. I am able to connect via Outlook Web Access without any problems. This does not appear to be a bad password, or an SSL-related issue. Possible complications that may be causing this include: OWA address: <https://webmail.department.schoolname.edu/OWA> LDAP address: <http://directory.schoolname.edu> UserID: fml318 (fml stands for first, middle and last initial, followed by a number combination) Email Address: flast2010@department.schoolname.edu (Windows) Domain Name used for OWA login: department Could the different server names, email aliases, userids, etc. used in this setup be a configuration the the developers didn't anticipate, and therefore can't connect to?  - Messages + Contacts Not Visible on Mac Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange I have scoured the web on this and found only one similar report (http://www.mackb.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/entourage/20528/Entourage-08-Exchange-03-sync-calendar-but-not-messages). I am using Entourage 2008 for the first time. I am inside the corporate firewall, and have tried connecting directly to the mail server and to the OWA server. When Entourage synchs, it appears to go through all the motions -- it recognizes subfolders in the exchange account, it even shows my calendar entries. I can do LDAP lookups, and even set user permissions on exchange folders (the changes were confirmed in OL2007). However, all of the contact and mail folders remain empty no matter how many times it syncs. I created a folder on Entourage and it showed up in OL2003 (under parallels). A post to that folder from Entourage also showed up on OL2007, but as soon as I had read it in OL, it no longer appeared in Entourage after the next sync. I have: Made sure that "Show Only Unread" and "Show Only Flagged" are NOT checked. Made sure there are no client-side rules or mailing list managements Tried both direct to the backend and to the OWA server Flushed/Rebuilt/deleted the local identity. Etc.  - Emails on server Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Email Client: pop I have set up Entourage to get all of the emails from my gmail account and its been working fine. Does anyone know of a way to set it up so that once entourage downloads emails from the gmail server it marks those emails as read on the gmail server? I'm running into the problem where I will read emails on entourage and then sign onto gmail from work or something and nothing is marked read so I have to click on them all to figure out what's new and what I had already read on entourage.  - Kerio Mail Server a solution to Entourage/Exchange sync mismatch? I decided to set this up as a separate topic since no one seemed to address it directly here. While doing some research on Entourage 2008 and the continued lack of sync ability between its tasks feature and MS Exchange Server (including 2007), I came upon a product called Kerio MailServer (currently in v 6.5 at www.kerio.com). This product purports to fully support all Exchange features in both MS Outlook and MS Entourage FULLY (unless I missed something). It also seems to be well designed and highly accessibly including a slick looking web interface that I have heard is quite functional. As an added bonus it also supports Blackberry, iPhone, iCal, Apple Address Book and others from what I can recall. If all the above is true and works well then it looks like a panacea to the problems that people have been complaining about regarding lack of sync capabilities between Entourage and Exchange. I may be signing up for a test with one of their hosted service providers to test the product and see how it works before making any drastic changes to our team's existing system given that it works quite well for Windows based users. When I returned to my computer this evening, Entourage was not responding. I force-quit it and restarted it. Now only my default inbox "shows" on the left. The other inboxes are not visible. It worked fine for a few days, but now I'm receiving this error when entourage tries to pull my e-mail: Error -18578 Could not synchronize record: Delivery Status Notification (Failure) to exchange server. The thing is, my email will still be pulled the first time around. However it won't work after that and I have to relaunch Entourage each time to check my e-mail. Any ideas? This is very frustrating. I have PDF's displaying within the client app but very poorly. The image has drop out lines passing horizontally. Like an interlaced NTSC frame capture has. Similar to what a CMYK used to look like when dropped onto earlier browsers. Anyway, anyone heard of any issues for CMYK PDF's displaying poorly?  - Problems connecting to Exchange after 12.0.1 update After installing the update from file (not Auto Update) to our Office for Mac "test" machine, Entourage no longer wants to connect to our Exchange 2007 SP1 server. Keeps returning the "Mail cannot be recieved at this time: Bad username/password" error. The account is fine as the user can log into OWA with no problems. I have recreated the profile once already to no avail. The only thing left (as far as I can see) is to reinstall Office back to 12.0.0. Any other ideas?  - Customers have long wait times for address book. Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange I am a Mac Administrator, and I have Entourage working fairly well with exchange except for one thing. It seems to take a long time to browse or view contacts in the address book. Every time I search or look up a contact, entourage spends sometimes up to 2 or 3 minutes updating to the exchange server before returning the results. I see this with both 2004 and 2008.  - Search within I've been a bit lost using the search capabilities in Entourage 2008. I recall how to "search within' in Ent 2004 but cannot figure out how to do the same in 2008.  - New repeating appointments not saving :-( I have the new version of Entourage version 12.0.1 I have been trying to insert and save re-occurring dates such as annual appointments, birthdates etc. They are not saving.  - entourage 2004 won't load I have been using entourage 2004 for 3 years on my osx imac and for the last few months on my leopard macbook. But since last week it will not load. I have tried reinstalling from the installation disks, and also updating - still nothing! There isn't any error messages - it just doesn't load at all! The worst thing is that I now set up Mail - but it need entourage to open (which it won't do!) to transfer the email data! The othere Office products (word, excel etc) all work fine! It appears that things are syncing (I've sent up Entourage to sync with .mac and Address Book and .mac and iCal; I've registered and registered my computers on .mac; I've reset sync data and set up sync so the data flows from my computer to .mac). Circles twirl, computer looks busy - and when it's all over and I check .mac, the latter shows very old data and says my last sync was in June 2007. .mac told me the following, ".Mac Sync is only supported for use with ical and Address book. If you trying to Sync third party application and information there may be issues. You can feel free to contact Microsoft regarding further troubleshooting with Entourage products and Sync." Please update me on any progress by Microsoft in correcting it's sync services. (Ical doesn't sync and either does Address Book - I don't care about those 2, I do care about .mac as it's what I need to use to keep my MacBook Air and IMac in sync.)  - Duplicate email problem Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: intel Email Client: pop I'm using Entourage 2004 as a pop account. I had no problem for a year, but in the last two months, it suddenly downloads all of the emails that remain on my webserver. This has happened six times in the last two months, four times this week. I have not imported any archives for a year. I am not changing anything on the server or in Entourage. It only happens with one web server, I have more than one. I have Entourage set to leave messages on the server for 25 days and then delete. The other problem is that the emails are not deleting off the server on the 26th day as they are supposed to. I've closed and opened Entourage and rebooted the computer and it still isn't deleting the webmail properly. I tried creating a new identity, and the complete download has not happened yet on that test identify and did not happen the last time the full download happened on my main identify. But then again, the test identity wasn't open at the time so wasn't downloading anything until I opened the test identity. This duplicate download happens all at once, and downloads both emails that appear in my main inbox and those that I've moved to other folders in Entourage. Does anyone know what is causing this? Some e-mail messages remain in outbox and the following appears "Connection to the server failed or was dropped. Error 17895". But oddly, I can send another message to the same individual and it goes through. Thus far this failure involves just two e-mail addresses, one a comcast.net address, the other not. Three of the four messages that failed have word attachments, or a JPG picture. The last message is without attachment and to another person who is not a comcast customer.  - entourage not syncing just one folder Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Email Client: Exchange I have multiple folders under INBOX that sync's with my exchange. I have rules set up for certain addressed to automatically go to my subfolders. A week ago, all but one folder sync's correctly - my INBOX. I am stumped, and so is my IT guy. Here are the steps that we have taken. 1. empty cache - this resynced all messages in INBOX but new messages did not get brought into INBOX (all others worked fine). 2. rebuilt database - same problem. 3. uninstalled and reinstalled Entourage (but kept original identity) - same problem. 4. created a new identity that syncs with my exchange - same problem. I have done all updates to Office 2008 & Leopard. Problem: When creating Calendar events the start and end date show up as "Fri, Apr 102, 200810215". Also, no matter what date I select as start/end date they both default to Jan 1, 2008 for some reason. Ofcourse recipients of my calendar events are thrilled at not having to attend another meeting since it happens in the past! And I get to say they were assigned said work in that meeting.  - How to Import Entourage Mail from a Different Mac Hi there, I want to combine all the data on each of two Leopard-based Macs into Entourage 2008 on one computer. What is the best way to accomplish this? I wondered if copying the actual database from Computer A to Computer B would be an option, however, that would mean I have two databases and this might cause problems. Anyway, any advice on how to proceed would be very much appreciated. There would be a good amount of duplication here, but I can remove the duplicate messages after the two files are reduced.  - AppleScript Inquiry We are using a 3rd-party software application on a system running Leopard v10.5.2. The following script is one of a number of scripts that are part of this application: <http://home.comcast.net/~tyh/OMScript.jpg> When this script is run, the application invokes Apple's "Mail" program and attaches images as an attachment, however we have a need to change the script to invoke "Entourage" instead of "Mail". Our request is fairly basic -we are seeking instructions on what line(s) to change (tell application "Mail" ??), especially the code which relates to setting the attachments via Entourage? Once we modify the script, is re-compiling required prior to placing it back into commission, and how do we do this? Thank you in advance to all who offer their advice and expertise.  - Calendar events marked by category faded, Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Power PC Email Client: pop Hello, I just upgraded from Office 2004 to Office 2008, and in the Month view of my Calendar, all of the appointments I've marked with different categories (i.e. Personal, Travel, etc) now look very faded and are difficult to read. In the Week view they're fine, as the text is black and the background is the category color, but in the Month-view the text is in the same color as the category, and the words are now so faded in color that I have to squint. is there any way to "punch up" or fortify the color of the text? I had 5 Archive files (.PST files) in outlook, due to the corruption issue with PST files over 2 GB. do I need to do the same in entourage, or can I drag all the old (now converted to MBOX files) into entourage without worrying about corruption? It seems to always put the signature at the very bottom, and when the email chain is 10 or more messages long, you dont see it. Any ideas as to how to fix this problem? The problem is that the Entourage will take the change but later will revert back to old date and time. Any advice, we have the latest updates on office 2008, Outlook 2007, and Exchange 2007 SP1. Does anyone know if there is an upgrade path from Office 2008 Student to Office 2008 full edition?

I purchased the student edition because I didn't need exchange support, but now later on I have realised that I will be using it in future.

There is no official upgrade path. You could call MSFT and see if they will
refund your purchase. I wouldn't bet on this being a quick process.
