    - Backup Address book Can anyone help? I have my address book set up to do mass mailings to our association membership; about 250 recipients. I have them grouped alphabetically in nine folders. When I choose "export contacts" to backup, entourage only exports those addresses that are not in the group folders. As the list grows I add new addresses directly into the appropriate folder.     - Choosing Identity at Start-up Fails :( MacOS 9.2.2 MS Office 2001 SR1 Entourage 9.0.1 Hi, my first post to this group so thanx for your patience ... I just got Office 2001 recently and successfully migrated OE over to Entourage no problem. My girlfriend and I share this machine, so when we open Entourage we have the "choose identity" screen appear at start-up. This was working fine under Entourage until yesterday. While "enhancing" my new office suite I installed Office Quickview (a control strip module), but I found that it surpassed the "choose identity" screen and went straight to the last opened account. Fine, so I dumped it and all the associated preferences I could find. Well now I <cannot> get the "choose identity" screen to appear at start-up, regardless of how many times I check the "Show at Start-up" box or how many times I dump the Entourage preferences. I am SICK of navigating microsoft's help/knowledge base/faq's and I just want to fix this @%^&@ thing. Any suggestions would be 'O so very welcomed.     - Multiple Addresses - Limitation? I am presently moving to another company and wish to take all the email contacts I have and send one message to them all. In the past, when I have tried to send an email to more than about 100 people, Entourage has not allowed me to. This email will go out to about 120 in one group and about 550 in another. Is there something that I'm not doing or not doing correctly that keeps me from sending this to everyone under one - in this case two - addresses?     - Disappearing Act? Recently all of the read messages in main inbox have disappeared. The messages are still there, I can use the finder to locate them, but they are not visable!     - Exchange Calendar syncing Still can't get calendar and addressbook-syncing work. Managed the free/busy-server to work. I just read at the helppage: When you connect to your Exchange account using OWA, does the URL look like this: http://yourserver/exchange/yourname? If the middle part isn't 'exchange' then Entourage won't be able to get your calendar and contacts. My path is http://myserver/exchangexxx/myname, because we have several stores on the Exchange-cluster, so this might be the problem.     - Exchange server 5.5 and Entourage My IT Dept are less than enthused by my sole Mac on the system and have not been very helpful ("if you want it fixed then you wil have to pay"!). They have Exchange Server 5.5, IMAP and LDAV activiated. I have read the support pages which are good if you have Ex 2000 but if you have an archaic It Dept with only 5.5 then it is a little more difficult. Do I need anything else set up if I only want to recieve email ie. free/busy etc....? Is the SMTP likely to be the same server?     - Applescript Help I am having trouble downloading a message from my imap server using applescript. I can not get the full source of a message when I have multiple messages selected using the code below. I do get the dialog but the value of theSource only contains the header information. I have set my imap options to only download the headers. I also tried with a delay after the download. Subsequent runs of the script generates the same "downloading message" dialog. This implies that the download did not work.     - Importings messages from a PC to a Mac I am triing to switch all my messages from my PC to my new Mac. Because I have a lot, fowarding my messages is not an option.     - Time/Date Issues with OSX and ENT More on the time/date shaggy-dog problem. Based on the tips provided I managed to get my time synced with the time.apple.com server. I had the box checked to use this option and everthing was working okay until my ISP dropped the dialup connection. Like the bumper sticker says, it happens. Mac OSX does not really warn you when the connection has been disconnected and the time/date thing went crazy when it lost sync. The date on this G4-450 went to December 1969 and that did crazy things to my Entourage email. I had to changed back to setting the clock myself. BTW, I did check the battery in the G4 and the voltage looks good. Sure would be nice if Mac OSX or Entourage would let you know the connection is broken.     - sending html emails Hi there, I was basically wanting to send a html email. I have dreamweaver in which i created the html document. Now I'm just trying figure out how to send the html out and have it look great when someone receives. By great I mean like an html page and not the source. I have read how-to's where they talk about uploading my gif's onto my site and then when the person opens their email it just calls upon the gifs that are uploaded.     - An error occurred while launching I have been happily running Entourage on a G3 Powerbook under Mac OSD 9.2 for 6 months or more and a week ago I went to start up and got an error message window: " An error occurred while launching the end of file was reached <OK>" I hit OK and the launch is cancelled. After reading the advice I tried a launch holding down Option and went initially for a simple rebuild and when that failed to resolve the problem a complex rebuild. This failed too. I have run Norton Utilities and Speed Disk and rebuilt the desktop and yet Entourage will still not launch. Strangely diary reminders I had set up in Entourage previously stil come up warning me of events! Can anyone suggest how I can resolve this problem? I have copied the Database for safety!     - Entourage finally working I can say that Entourage is finally working. I had to send an IT guy the information from both the Microsoft site and the MVPs site. It took us several tries. Trying different server names and what not. Two thumbs down to Microsoft. Set up should be a whole lot easier. Not everyone has an IT person at their disposal.     - Entourage Crashing I have a couple of messages in my Drafts folder that I suddenly cannot Delete. This just started in the last 24 hours. When I try to select an error message comes up telling me that the action cannot be completed. Then when it does get selected and I select the Delete Icon, nothing happens. If I hit the Delete key, the program quits. Also, the messages do not show in the drafts folder, only a series of horizontal lines appear where the messages are suppose to appear. When I run the arrow curser over the lines, the message will then appear and then an error message comes window opens up. I have been being barraged with emails that are quarantined as virus, probably sorbog. Have been getting rid of them without problem.     - Entourage Shutting Down Dear all, Has anyone had any difficulties with Entourage shutting down under its own free will? This is the problem I have. I open Entourage, it stays open until I click "Send and Receive", emails starts to download and all of a sudden the whole program closes. It happens all the time, just not on the odd occasion. It sounds like a virus but I have the latest updates and found no problems. All my other applications are running as they should.     - Entourage without HTML-display Hello NG, I am new to the Mac and in my compay we use office:mac Here's my problem: I compose eMails just using text, I do not use HTML to compose Messages. But if someone writes me a mail that is formatted in HTML Entourage shows the formatted Mail. The only thing that I found so far is to not allow "Complex-HTML" (whatever that means). But even when I turn off complex-HTML Entourage shows HTML. I was used (using Outlook Express 6) to turn off the display of HTML-Mails completly. Even Lotus Notes (v.5.0.9a) shows the eMails without HTML-Formatting. And if I send an eMail formatted in HTML with Entourage it will always send the text-only-part, too. Please help me!     - Entourage - Error code 4362 - Mac OS X I tried to send a file a little bigger than 5 MB. It did'nt work, error code 4362 appeared. I tried to put the e-mail in the trash, and then delete it in the deleted items folder. It didn't work. In the "Folder" colomn, 1 item appears in the deleted item folder "deleted item(1)". When clicking on that folder, there is no e-mail appearing in the right side box. Where is it ??? I tried to restart the Mac, and when opening Entourage, following message appears : The action could not be completed. An unknown error (4362) arrived. I can not send or receive e-mails anymore.     - Address Book Subfolders? I am a recent Windows convert, running eMac w/OSX 10.2.6 and the latest version of Entourage (updates and patches applied, not sure of the rev level, sending this from work). In Outlook XP, you can create contact subfolders...in my Outlook config I had 7 contact subfolders, with a total of about 300+ contacts. I realize in Entourage I can create "views" to filter/sort my contacts by category and other criteria, so thats no problem, but what I want is when I create a new message and hit the address book button to be able to tell it which "view" to use. As it stands now, it shows ALL the contacts and I have to sift through 300 of them to find the right names.     - More holidays than you can poke a stick at... This is really weird. I have Entourage (Exchange Version) creating thousands of holidays for me! I synchronise with a Palm V, I have the latest Entourage Conduit, I have deleted all the extra holidays on multiple occasions and yet the damn things keep on being recreated! I tried to delete the events while I was offline (at home, finding them all then deleting them in large batches). However, when I came back to the office and it apparently synchronises with the Exchange Server, the rotten things have been created again!!!! So once again (@#$%^) I have done a Find for all Calendar events, sorted by Date, then selected all the multiples and deleted them in a number of massive batches. This time I have done this while on the network connected to the Exchange Server. I wait with some trepidation for what will happen tomorrow when I open Entourage...     - Can't add word to spelling dictionary About half the time, when I invoke the spell checker in an email=20 document, it will not allow me to add a word to my spelling dictionary. = The "Add" button will be grayed out. Other times, it works just fine. = I=20 just installed it and I have not modified any of the settings, so there=20 should be no problem there. For example, one time it will remember=20 that my last name is spelled correctly, since I added it once, when it=20 was working correctly.     - Can't create hyperlink in outgoing e-mail message I have a G4 Powerbook with a full copy of MS Office Professional running and use Entourage for my e-mail. I've tried to include hyperlinks in my out going mail but am told I can't unless I have Internet Explorer loaded as my primary browser . I do have Explorer loaded and it is my primary browser. I've tried creating the text body in word with hyperlinks (that works fine) and then pasting the text w/ links into the outgoing mail. However, the link still shows up just as text.     - Entourage is working. We fimnally discovered our issue. On the exchange server IIS interface. Make sure in properties of the default web site, on the Web Site tab, "HTTP keep-alives enabled" is checked. Once this was done all my entourage clients free/busy info updated and can schedule appointments seeing user data on exchange. All systems are now working....     - Entourage Identities and mail I have Entourage 10.1.4 and use OS 10.2.6. When I log on as myself (the main user) I am able to see not only all my messages, but when we switch identities, we are able to see all the mail sent and received for the other person. When logged on as the second user however, switching identities exposes only some mail, for them and myself. I thought we would have access to all mail sent and received on this machine. NO? Ok, I assume that it's just my computer to cause me a lot of trouble,
but when i tried to use this new update, my computer came back with
an error on my disk, and then stopped. Now I can't open entourage
anymore-it automaticallky quits. I assume this is due to the fact that
the installer won't complete its installation, but I've re-started my
computer, had it off for several hours, and nothing has helped.
Has anyone else had this problem? Or more importantly, does anyone
know how to fix this without re-installing Entourage?

If the crash started after applying the Office X 10.1.4 update, the only way
to fix it is to remove and re-install Office X. Insert the Office X CD,
then open the Value Pack. Click the Value Pack Installer. Check "Remove
Office", then click "Continue". Run the "Remove Office" utility. When
done, re-install Office X from the CD.

Download and install the latest Office X updates, which are 10.1.2 and
10.1.4 (10.1.3 is unnecessary). They¹re available from Microsoft.

None of your Entourage data will be touched during this process.
