 - Email list sorting How do I get Entourage to group by subject, but sort by the subject with the most recent message first? I've tried many combinations, but the all end up sorting all messages in either date order (losing the subject grouping) or A-Z (putting the most recent messages anywhere in the list).  - Command-N brings up "Custom Arrangements" ? This is a new one: I have one Entourage (Entourage 2004 11.2.3) window open, the "Mail =B7 Main Identity" which is the main window I work from. Normally, when I hit Command-N, a new email window comes up that allows me to send an email. This morning, when I hit Command-N, I now get a small 3x3" window called "Custom Arrangements: Mail". I've never seen this window before, or even know what a custom arrangement is. If I close all Entourage windows, and try again, same thing.  - New and Improved Error Messages Since updating to 11.2.3 and having Data Verification turned on I am periodically getting corrupt database errors all the time now. The message tells you to quit all MS apps and verify the data and every time the database is fine. I have my databases on remote drives aliased in and right after the last nerve shocking alert, spun off a backup to DVD after the only process left to me was rebuild with backup.  - Entourage Printing Problem (Want to get rid of Conversation Text) Hey fellas (and gals?), I have run into an interesting problem today while printing from Entourage (well it was pointed out to me...) Whenever I print an email, it always includes a "conversation" line, just under the Subject, To, etc., fields. Since the conversation line seems to simply mirror the subject line in most cases, I would like to omit that text from appearing in future printouts. It seems like a waste of space (and a minimal amount of ink.) :) Anyone know where the setting is to simply get rid of this item? Or a workaround? I'd be very interested to know how.  - Force Sync Entourage and iCal Hi..Help... I had sync services working fine the other day, where Entourage and iCal were in sync with fairly instant updating from either side. For some reason, it stopped happening. I turned off Sync Services for Calendar in Entourage prefs, deleted the "Entourage" calendar from iCal, and restarted Sync Services for Calendar in Entourage prefs. I checked Entourage updates Sync Services, closed prefs and then...nothing. My iCal doesn't seem to update with a new "Entourage" calendar. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to force synchronization manually? There doesn't seem to be much way for user intervention to happen. Can someone explain what the sync schedule is between Entourage and "The Truth"?  - Missing flippy triangles in Entourage folders list Hi there, I am hoping someone knows what do do about this-I'm rapidly giving up hope. If you use Entourage, and have nested folders for your messages, you know you open the folders using the flippy triangles, in the folders list view on the left. My triangles have disappeared. This is on a new (Apple refurbished) Powerbook--I used the target mode to transfer all my data from my other Powerbook, using Firewire cables (if you've done this you'll know what I mean).Everything seems to be just fine, except for this oddity with Entourage. So far I've: -Installed the latest Office update, rebooted. -Repaired permissions, rebooted. -Rebuilt the database. -Opened the window up wide, to see if I'm missing anything. -Throughly gone through Pref's, Help, etc. Again, I see my top level message folders lined up nicely, but there's no way to get to the sub-level message folders without the flippy triangles. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be happy to try them!! Before I reinstall the whole Office package, I want to make sure I'm not missing something ridiculously simple.  - Wrong Calendar folder showing up in Outlook Web Access I'm trying to get my working calendar on our Exchange server to show up on Outlook Web Access. However, for some reason the only Calendar that shows up on the web is labeled "Calendar sm". I made that one some time ago, I think, but now I'd like to have OWA point to the same "Calendar" folder that shows up in Entourage 2004. Both are on the Exchange server. In other words, I have multiple calendar folders in Entourage but the wrong one shows up in OWA. How can I get OWA to use the correct one? Can I be sure that my free/busy data matches the calendar with all my meetings? I can't find anything about this on http://www.entourage.mvps.org.  - Delegates not working properly Using Exchange Server 2003, I can share my Outlook calendar and contacts with another Outlook user, but if I log into Entourage with the Outlook user's name and password, I can't open the calendar or contacts (even though all the user's information shows up in Entourage). I am given an error about the user's mailbox not being found. This happens regardless of whether I select the user as a delegate in the Account Settings/Exchange/Delegates panel.  - Trouble Importing Data from X to 2004 I'm having trouble importing my information from X to 2004. Upon opening 2004, I get the import assistant. 1st screen: I selected importing info from Entourage X 2nd screen: I selected all options 3rd screen: (here's where the fun begins) It fails to automatically find an Identity and asks me to do it (note to MS, you might want to give us "unwashed masses" a clue about what it is we're looking for!). Anyway, I select the browse button, went to the user folder > documents > MS User Data > Office X Idenities > my folder. In there are the database cache, mailing lists, old database, old database cache, rules, and signatures, ALL grayed out. I went other places, but everywhere I looked was grayed out.  - Tasks sync but reminder / alarm info doesn't So, you can sync your tasks but it doesn't pass along the reminder / alarm info. Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?????? As long as you're implementing these features, why does MS neglect simple little but usefull things like this??? I'm glad I can sync with my phone finally (after many years!!!) but just like exchange implementation, the incompleteness is much more infuriating than just not being able to do it at all and just deciding to buy another product! Why all this spottiness when bringing out new features. Should I hold on to hopes that someday I'll be able to use entourage in a functional logical way or am I like a battered wife hoping for a change that will never come??  - Hotmail and Entourage Sync I'm using Entourage 2004 with my Powerbook. I have my hotmail account set up with Entourage, but when I activate Send and Receive, Entourage downloads some of my mail to my local computer, and removes the mail from my hotmail server. I do NOT want this to happen. I have other computers that I check my email with and when it removes it from the hotmail server, I'm not able to check the same email from another computer.  - Import address book from Outlook 2000 (PC) to Entourage? You would think that Microsoft could get this right, no? When I export from Outlook 2000 to a CSV file (windows or DOS, doesn't matter) and then try to import to Entourage, I get nothing. All of the fields are there (I can see them) , but a couple of things go wrong: 1: Entourage does not map the fields from the CSV file into the fields in Entourage, even though it knows what stuff is. I can easily scroll through all of the contacts in the import dialog and see the data. The result is that all of the fields are mapped into the "notes" field in Entourage, somewhat useless. 2: there seems to be no way to manually map stuff on my own, even though the instructions say that you can do this. The one trouble I'm having is moving contacts and calendar events from Entourage to the Exchange server. It looks like there are no syncing options for this -- it's supposed to happen automatically. However, I still see the contacts and events in Entourage. But, the calendar and contacts under the Exchange server are empty. Does anyone know if this is supposed to happen automatically? Thanks.  - Entourage locking up on opening exchange Calendar Hi all, I'm using Entourage 2004 11.2.3 on PB g4 osx10.3.9 connecting to an exchange 2003 server. Every time I either click on the 'Calendar' icon, or on the Calendar folder of the exchange account Entourage freezes up. I checked the activity monitor and the Database Daemon takes all the cpu (90+%) and then gets hung up. I have to forcequit both the daemon and then entourage. If I go to the local calendar on My computer, I have no problem. I have deleted the exchange account and re-created it, tried to delete all entourage preferences I can find in finder, including database and nothing. Any ideas please?  - Duplicate Messages - Double Emails I just upgraded to Office 2004, Entourage 11.2.3 w/ my G4 OSX 10.3.9. I am getting duplicate email messages in one POP3 account but not the other, both filtered and unfiltered. That is, the Good Account works even if mail is filtered into a folder other than In Box. Same ISP for both accts; same ISP as 3 days ago w/ Entourage X. I have reviewed many similar posts/threads on Mactopia. Most of them trail off into a state of non-resolution. I have rebuilt my DB by holding down option when booting Entourage. No dice. None of the accts has an option set to leave mail on the server.  - AppleScript "Create Note from Event(s)" ?? Hello - I am on Entourage 11.2.3, Office 2004, OS/X. I've been struggling to learn a little AppleScript, and noticed the scripts Entourage comes with, which are to create from messages, either of events, tasks, or notes. These are the scripts in the default scripts menu. I'm looking for something that would create a note from a selected event or events. I noticed you unfortunately cannot drag and drop things around in Entourage, which is something sorely missing in my opinion compared to Outlook. I'm used to that. I thought I would be able to use the "create note from message" script as a base, and convert it to instead create notes from selected events. However, it seems that the AppleScript dictionary does not support what I am trying to do. The original MS script is below, and I started with: -- get the currently selected message or messages set selectedMessages to current messages I tried converting this to: set selectedEvents to current events ... but this just gives a compile error: Expected end of line but instead found plural class name.  - Rebuild database, lose newsgroup subscription info Whenever I'm forced to rebuild my Entourage database, I lose all my newsgroup subscriptions. It's a real inconvenience. Not only do I have to resubscribe, but I have to then figure out which of the thousands of messages I've read and which ones I haven't. Any solution? Thanks!  - Improving a Contact-from-text script I've got a script here that can often take someone's contact info and place it into a new Contact. (I'm placing the script below). However, it doesn't always work, and I can't figure out why. If anyone can improve upon the script, I'd be most grateful. (I use this particular script ALL the time, for when I have someone's Name, Address, Phone, Email). As you'll see in the script, there are a few formats that it's supposed to work in. However, here's a fresh example of where I can't get it to work. I just received the following info: John Smith School 2850 N. Wabash #1200 Chicago, IL 60616 310-225-5300 Yet when I run this script, it gives me either this missmatched Conct info: John Smith School Chicago IL 60616 310, 225 5300 ...or it gives me a parsing error on the Address line. I've tried adding paragraph marks at the end of each line, and copying and pasting this from a basic Text Edit doc, all sorts of methods for the original contact text. Yet it doesn't work. And yet that contact info is in a format that the script is supposed to allow for. Can anyone tweak this so that it would work?  - Default View (Groups) I upgraded to Office 2004. Entourage now insists that I view my mail in Groups (View / Arrange By... / Show in Groups. I personally think Groups are annoying and get in the way. It doesn't appear that MS decided to give the user control over this in Preferences.  - Entourage 2004 11.2.3 failing to connect to SMTP using SSL Hi, I have an IMAP account (NHS net) that I would like to use with the latest version of Entourage. I have all of the settings, and when put into either Entourage X or Mail they work. But when I use the same settings in Entourage they do not. I think that it is something to do with the root certificates. When I first set up the new account in Entourage I received the "Unable to establish a secure connection to xxx because the correct root certificate is not installed" message, that seems to be a problem to many (from my google searches!). I have tried to sort this out by doing the following: 1. Getting my own free digital certificate from Thawte 2. Asking the helpdesk of my IMAP account to send me their root certificates. They sent me three files, called ldap1_B64.cer, GTE_ROOT_CA_B64.cer and CW_ICA_B64.cer. I dragged them one at a time into Keychain access. The first went in fine as a X509 certificate, as did the third. But the second one said "The specified item already exists". The main problem I have is that the email account still does not work after this. I can receive emails using it, but not send them. As far as I know everything is set up ok. The outgoing SMTP server is on a different port (587), but I have temporarily disabled the firewall to see if that was the problem and it was not.  - Entourage Export Fails in 11.2.3 I use to be able to get a .vcf file for the whole address book using Export that all kinds of applications loved. Now it's a tab-delimited file that nothing likes. I can get .vcf files when I drag an entry to the desktop. But if I try to drag all on them to a folder, I get about a third of them, not all. And with the Export function where you select various options, I get an error at the end that it was incomplete because I stopped it. I didn't stop it. So other than the new Sync Services that seem to be real scary, no guarantee that things won't get wiped or over merged, there is no easy way to externally manage contacts anymore. I'm new to Entourage 2004 (and OS X) and for the most part my experience with Entourage has been much better than it has ever been with Outlook (and that's saying a lot considering how good Outlook is.) Anyways, I'm having an issue trying to synchronize deleted emails with my main, POP3 account. I use Gmail as my main email account and am checking it in Entourage via POP3. If I want to delete an email (both the Entourage and Gmail) I have the "A copy of this message is on the server. Delete from server" option, yet only the downloaded copy gets deleted, not Gmail's copy. I also have "Delete messages from the server after they are deleted from this computer" enabled in the account settings. I know POP3 isn't the best solution and this happens in just about every other email client I've ever used, but I was hoping Entourage would improve it. It might be worth mentioning that I set Gmail to store a copy of my email when I access it via POP3 client (mainly so I have a remote copy if I'm not using my laptop)...though I don't believe that is the problem.  - Messages only partially downloading OS 10.4.5, Entourage 11.2.1. I think I've been through this before and I don't remember how to do it. Messages over a certain size are not being fully downloaded when I "send and receive mail". I've checked the Account Settings and *do not have checked* the box that says to only partially download messages over a specified size. In spite of that, large messages are not fully downloading until I give a message-specific instruction after opening the message. My recollection is that I had to do something in two places and I'm danged if I can remember where the two places are. I appreciate your consideration and advise. This seems to happen occasionally in Entourage; normally, quitting and
relaunching the application should make them work again.

Sometimes, just switching to Finder and back will bring back the shortcuts.
This is an oft-reported problem and I'm sure it is being worked on. As
someone said in another thread, it may be more of an Apple problem than
Entourage.
