 - Japanese fonts in lists I receive emails from japan with japanese in the subject line, however, the japanese is garbled (as though the wrong encoding is being used). I tried clicking the japanese encoding from the format menu, and even switching my list font in the preferences to a japanese font, but still get the gibberish in the subject/name fields of the list views.  - Export to mbox item limit? Is there a limit to the number of emails that can be in an mbox file created by dragging a folder to the desktop?  - HTML email viewing bugs? There is one place I get HTML mail from - a summary table. Everybody else in my company sees the table ok all the time in clients like Thunderbird, Mail.app, Eudora, etc. But in Entourage the table often gets cut after 10 or so lines. If I look at the raw source, all the HTML seems to be in there though. Does Entourage have bugs displaying large-ish (maybe 100 rows) of table data in HTML mail?  - Ready to dump Entourage. It's constantly displaying unread messages, undeletable read messages, and duplicate messages. Only way to fix it is to use (HA HA HA), the "Repair message list", which I now have to use everytime Entourage get my mail!!!. I mean this is a time wasting joke of an application!  - Am I sending with several smtp accounts? Dear group, An hour ago I sent a mail to a person that obviously isn't available anymore. It bounced back with a "can not deliver - permanent error" message. OK, no probs. But for some reason, I looked into the source of the reply, and to my astonishment, I saw the mail address of ALL my mail accounts: X-PopBeforeSMTPSenders: address1@domain1.com, address2@domain1.com, address1@domain2.com, address2@domain2.com, and so on. This troubles me. I have no intention in disclosing all mail addresses to all (?) mail recipients since that's why I have several addresses.  - Syncing Entourage with Japanese/US addresses on J Palm Okay, this one is probably not too common but maybe someone can figure it out... I have a Clié from Japan, localized in Japanese. When I try to sync it, only addresses in Japanese format are synced; the rest (and majority) of US-based addresses are not transferred to the Clié (only email and phone data are).  - Junk Email Protection Not Working This is driving me nuts. I'm using Entourage 2004. I changed my Junk Email Protection Setting to "Exclusive" and Entourage is simply not marking mail as Junk. This setting should mark and move anything that is not from somebody in my Address Book or in the Safe Domain List to the Junk E-Mail folder, right? What's even worse, if I run the "Apply Junk E-Mail Protection" option against my Junk E-Mail folder, which contains bogus emails, Entourage will change the status on a bunch of those emails to Not Junk. I've scoured various sites tonight looking for an answer to no avail. I'm on OSX 10.3.6 using Entourage 11.1.0. Any ideas on what I can do to make this work?  - Wrong date order on attachments Can anyone help me with this annoying problem. i regularly attach pdf files to emails. the pdfs are held on a server running osx10.1 server. when i click on add in entourage the files can't be sorted in date order - they appear in random date order even when i click on date modified which should sort them that way. they are fine if i sort them by date in the finder - just not through entourage. it's reallly annoying trying to find the right file quickly. entourage is office v10.x.  - Certificates Don't Show Up Good morning, I'm having trouble setting up Entourage to use certificates for signing and encryption. I used the Keychain app as well as the MS Cert Manager to verify that my cert is imported. However, when I attempt to link a cert to signing or encryption (Security tab of Accounts setup), None is the only thing listed. I really want to get this working; just seem to be doing the same things again and again now. When I first tried this months ago, certificates did appear. I linked to one and tried to send a signed message. As I recall, the message did not get a signature, and the list of certs no longer appeared under the Security tab (panel).  - Full Support for New Palm Apps I'm greatly disappointed with the speed the MBD is developing updates to handheld sync for the newer Palm PIM applications. <rant>Obviously PalmOne or PalmSource or whoever developed the basic apps to conform to Outlook/Entourage's calendar, contacts, and task formats. Why do we have to deal with substandard support for so long? My goodness, this isn't rocket science. Even more ridiculous is the fact that Microsoft supports the Palm and not the PocketPC!</rant> I think it would be wise and profitable for Microsoft to simply license the database API to as many vendors who wish to pay, as I suspect they've done with the PocketMac folken. Mark/space would be the obvious next candidate. It's not their core business, but it sure makes their product more valuable. Two days after I installed a broadband router to my mac, my entourage gives me this error message: "...Error: could not retrieve mail from (my account name) The server returned the following error: invalid command. Check username/password or security settings. Error 7010..." I checked my accounts they are all okay, both password and username.  - Palm T5 and Entourage Just got a Palm tungsten T5 . After much time with Palm tech support, I am able to Sync, but not with Entourage.  - Auto Archive? We have a campus Exchange server and I use Entourage on my PowerBook and Outlook on a Windows box. Is there a way to do an archive to store the older mail files outside of the mail client? There are about 5000 messages that it scans thru during "Send & Receive". Any suggestions?  - Entourage 2004 We are running qpopper 4.0.5 on Freebsd 4.8. We have a client who recently upgraded their Mac computers with Entourage 2004. Using this new version of Entourage they are no longer able to read mail from our pop server. They get this error: -3259 "An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic." If they use an older version of Entourage, it works fine. Do you know what could be causing this problem?  - Not enough memory I'm using Entourage 2004 on OSX Mac and getting the prompt "Not enough memory" when I open Entourage. I can't get into any of my mailboxes, create or recieve email. The system has over a gig of RAM and there is lots of free disk space available, so its not the database trying to rebuild itself and finding no space. The emails are not really duplicated; peering the server with another program such as Apple's Mail shows only original message on the server. But Entourage consistently re-downloads the same message, and displays them in it's inbox with identical header and time stamp. The most frustrating aspect is that you cannot delete the duplicates. Deleting within Entourage moves the "real" message to the assigned trash directory on the server, but the duplicates remain; no amount of pushing the delete button has any effect on these stubborn bastards. Microsoft does not reply to my requests for help. With spam continuing to worsen, I am almost at the point of throwing out Entourage as my email program. Any suggestions appreciated.  - Entourage problem I wonder if anyone can help me. I'm running Microsoft Entourage 2001 in OS9 on a G4, but need to transfer it to my ibook to free up space. However, although I've re-installed Entourage onto my ibook (also OS9) from the startup disc, the software just crashes when I try to download email. It's not a memory problem. I had not problem in the past when running Entourage off a secondary hard disc either. It just keeps crashing when I install it onto my ibook. Any advice anyone?  - Still having sync problems with Treo tasks I have posted a couple of times. I am still completely baffled by my Treo. I have Entourage 2004, using treo 600, sync is fine, except for tasks. Nothing written or done to tasks list in Treo will transfer to Entourage. Everything done in Entourage transfers fine. I have checked the conduit settings hundreds of times, even tried to make the handheld overwirte Entourage.. to no avail. Anyone who might have a solution to this problem, please help!!!!  - gray box in Entourage In my Inbox and Sent Items folders there is a gray box at the bottom of the list of emails, covering up the emails. And when I try to click on it, or simply move the cursor over it, I get the error message "The action cannot be completed. Mail error." And in my Outbox it is completley blank, and I get the same message when I try to click on it. Then when I click "OK" after receiving the message it just continually pops up over and over, so I have to force quit the program. Anyone with similiar problems? What should I do?  - Performance Problems When Large Projects Exist I have a pretty fast machine (Dual 1.25Ghz G4) that is unbearably sluggish when doing anything in Entourage 2004 even composing a short email causes the "beach ball of death" to spin for 30 seconds every other line or so. I suspect the culprit is a large shared project - it contains about 4500 contacts and a fair number of calendar items. I haven't been able to find any information on Entourage optimization or what kind of load the Project center can support on the Mactopia or MVP websites. The shared project lives on a fast NAS device which the machines connect to via fast ethernet. There are 3 machines accessing the project but there aren't usually a lot of changes to the data being made. Can anyone help me? - Matt Tag: Trip to Disney Tag: 47293

 - Address Book View I've just added an view in the address book, but it didn't appear in the view list. I tried to re-create one. It said one with the same name exists. Is there something wrong?  - Mime Guru Needed! - Attachment File Names Munged from Mac->PC (Using Entourage 10.1.4/SR1; OS X 10.3.6) The problem: ============= I send an attached file to a PC user. The mac file name is "test.xls". The pc user gets a file named "test.xlsx-mac-creator="5843454C" Some info: ========== Looking at the source text of the email, it seems pretty obvious what is happening. The mime part with the attachment says: Content-type: application/x-msexcel; name="test.xls"; x-mac creator="5843454C"; x-mac type="5843454C" Content-disposition: attachment Content-transfer-encoding: base64 The PC is munging the first two lines of the mime type into a single name. So, pretty easy to blame the pc mail reader (in this case Outlook), but I'm not so sure. If I send multiple attachments, the 2nd through nth all work. Even twistier: ============== Another Entourage user at my office never has this problem. We looked at the source of his emails. In his case, the mime type information reads: Content-type: application/octet-stream; name="test.xls" Content-disposition: attachment Content-transfer-encoding: base64 It seems that this approach does not carry along the Mac creator or type, which might be helpful on a Mac->Mac transfer, but obviously no value in going to a pc. When Entourage sends the attachment this way, it works on the pc end. But, he and I compared what we think are ALL preference settings between our two systems, and I couldn't get my output to match his. Solutions: ========== 1) I'd be happy with a configuration solution for my machine that would cause the attachment to be sent in the same way as on my colleagues machine (btw, same Entourage version on both, same OS version on both). [Compose settings: Auto check names, save copies to sent items and show html formatting all on; Encode for Any Computer (AppleDouble); append file name extensions off.] 2) Some other workaround or suggestion?  - Entourage Problem After I download my email and log out of Entourage, I get a dialogue box that indicates that there is a network operation still in progress. I have to tell it to stop the network operation. The operation appears to continue for as long as fifteen minutes after I have received all of my email.  - Using Entourage with Juno dialup I use the latest version of Entourage on my PowerBook, and when I connect to the internet through Juno's dialup service, I can't seem to send messages from my work e-mail address. I can receive e-mail just fine. The strange thing is, when I connect to the internet through any other connection, I have no problem at all.  - Copy broken in 11.1.0 (040913)! This is NOT good! I just allowed the MS autoupdater to do its thing. After firing up Entourage new, anytime I try to Edit > Copy anything (whether plain text or html stylized text), nothing is sent to the clipboard. More Info: OSX 10.3.6 This problem was not present before the MS autoupdater ran. All other apps can still copy/paste no problem.  - Select Items in Custom View with Applescript I have been trying to sort through a large volume of email within Entourage with Applescript and, as you guys know, it's very slow and Entourage does not support multithreading when it comes to Applescript (so Entourage waits for the mass processing to complete). An alternative that would work better is to have the Applescript automagically select the results of a custom view (representing the most recent of emails in multiple folders) and then complete the actions that I want to perform on them.  - Scheduling problem? A curious thing happened last night. I set the Delete Junk Mail scheduled task to run at midnight, which it did. This morning, when I checked my mail, I noticed Send & Receive All had not run at all (should run every 10 minutes). The message bar at the bottom of the window was counting down the next run of Delete Junk Mail. Is there some subtle interaction of scheduled events I'm missing? Can only one task at a time run?
