There is no preference. You can voice your concerns by sending Feedback to
MSFT under Help in the menu bar.
Not sure if it would help but in System Preferences --> Displays, try
selecting a different Colors option from the popup. Also in same pref window
check another color option.
FWIW, the colors are muted, but definitely distinguishable on my monitor.
