Occasionally there is a program that utilizes the option to pull/access
contacts from Mac's Address Book. Since I use Entourage for everything, my
Address Book is empty.

Is there a free utility out there anywhere that would let me sync or copy my
contacts information from Entourage into Address Book? I wouldn't have to
do this very often. Definitely once to sync what's in it right now and then
probably just once every few months for any changes/new contacts.

I thought that I might be able to do it from within the programs themselves,
but Entourage will only let you export a tab-delimited file and Address Book
will only import vCards or LDIF files.

I'm running Entourage (newest version with exception of last update) on a G4
Powerbook running 10.3.9.

Try dragging the contacts from the Entourage window - you'll get vCard files.

Cheers,

Chris

In addition to Chris' comments: Paul Berkowitz's shareware "Sync
Entourage-Address Book", available here,
<http://scriptbuilders.net/files/syncentourageaddressbook2panthertiger2.6.4.
html>, allows you to keep Address Book and Entourage synchronised. If you
don't need to synch that frequently, however, the vCard export should be
just fine.

At the same time, Entourage 2004, as of 11.2.3, has a built-in synching
functionality; unfortunately, it won't work under Panther, as it requires
Tiger's Sync Services.

If you are using Entourage 2004 then it can sync with the Apple Address Book
without any third party utilities at all - and will keep the two in sync
without user intervention.

In the prefs, under 'Sync Services' simply turn on the option to sync the
address book & contacts.

Yes, but only from Mac OS X 10.4.3 onwards; Michelle is using 10.3.9, so she
won't see that option in Entourage's preferences .

Ah, sorry - yes, I missed that bit.

Chris-

I finally got around to trying this. It worked PERFECTLY! (Well, except
for the fact that it froze my Finder for quite some time when I dragged them
from Entourage's address book to the desktop folder).

I had searched in the Help file for this, knowing that the Apple Address
Book could import vCards, but Entourage help only talked about Mbox files
and tab-delimited exports. Nothing about creating vCards. It talked about
forwarding as vCard and importing as vCard, but not exporting.

Thanks for the help. Now there's no need for a script and I don't have to
have Tiger. Thanks a million!
