 - Entourage 2004 Crashing I am using Mac OS X 10.2.8 When I installed Entourage 2004, I may have made some wrong choices=20 about importing from MS Word X. Entourage did not work for that either, = so=20 I just did not use it.=20 When trying to open Entourage 2004 there is a delay, then it says that = it=20 can not open. It generates a report to send to Microsoft, but does not = seem=20 to be able to actually send that report.=20 If I knew who to send it to at Microsoft, I could copy and paste the = report=20 and send it via e-mail.  - synching two computers I have an IMac desktop and an IBook, and I would like to keep the mail in synch between the two computers. I thought that I could avoid this problem by selecting under Tools > Accounts > Options the choice to leave the mail on the server when I log onto my POP account through Entourage using the IBook. I found, however, that when I return home, the messages downloaded to the IBook are no longer available to my IMac. So it appears that my only solution is to synchronize the mail folders.  - Delegate access? I have been granted Reviewer access to someone's Calendar. I have entered their user name in the Add Delegate dialog in the Accounts dialog. The name of the account shows up in my folder list, but when I click on it, nothing happens. I don't get that user's calendar. What am I missing?  - Entourage Migration - ERROR Hi Folks, I'm trying to migrate my Entourage X data over to a new boot HD in prep for an upgrade to 2004. I used a syncronizing utility to copy the Identity info from my current user Home folder to a duplicate Home Folder on the new HD but I'm running into an error: My current setup is "BOOTDRIVE/Users/myUserName/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X Identities/MainIdentity" The new setup path is exactly the same except it starts from the NEWBOOTDRIVE Entourage says it cannot open this Identity or any identity or a new identity when I start up from the new boot drive. If I log in to the computer as not the admin but as myUserName, it says [insufficient privileges, contact admin to give privileges and move the UserData folder out of the Applications folder]. But I am not in the app folder. I'm in the user documents folder. Moving the UserData folder to the desktop or any place else it still fails. If I log into the computer as ADMIN and I start up Entourage, it asks to rebuild the database to recover it, but it fails and will not let me start a new user, import, or open existing identities.  - Option for pictures in Mail Where is the option to turn on pictures in mail messages in Entourage 2004?  - Archive messages, appts, etc.? Outlook has an archiving function that can run automatically, with various settings, to move old items to a .pst file located either locally or on a server. This .pst file can be opened within Outlook so that it looks like just another collection of mailboxes. We use Exchange, and I'm trying to duplicate the archiving function found in Outlook using Entourage. The Export function in Entourage uses the word, archive, but it's not a true archiving process, just a back up. I thought, maybe a script would do it, but a quick look at the dictionary for Entourage in Script Editor doesn't look promising. It's possible to move items manually, but then, the Export process doesn't seem to allow for selecting items by age, or even by location. Has anyone else tried to do this? Were you successful?  - Re: Entourage Crashing on Send/Receive Wow, I disabled Junk mail filter and it worked. I re-enabled it and the problem occurred again. So I disabled it and rebuilt the DB. Then enabled and all is fine. Thanks so much.  - Entourage 2004 Justification/Font Size I'd like to add another voice to those having problems with display text bloating and right-justifying the first time each session I view an email with complex HTML. It is a real problem, and the work around of turning off the display of complex HTML is not really adequate. Despite the assertion from a support representative in an earlier thread that 99% of all complex HTML messages are spam, I receive many work-related messages each day that don't render correctly with the option turned off, not to mention most of my legitimate email newsletters.  - Screen Font Squiffiness Several of my screen fonts (in Entourage) look very poorly indeed. Thin, weak, weedy - rather sickly. I have taken all the duplicates out of the various Font folders to no avail. The problem is not exclusive to Entourage, but since I use it most, that's were it bothers me most. Any ideas?  - Entourage Crashing on Send/Receive I can't get my email this morning. Entourage crashes whenever I hit send/receive, apple-K, or Tools/Schedule/Send&Receive/Send&Receive All or Tools/Run Schedule.  - HTTP error 1412 Hello, I've read through a number of postings relating to this same error but have not been able to fix this problem. I have tried, as commonly suggested, to remove and add again my Hotmail account. I have a message with an attachment that I am trying to send to a Group. Every time I attempt to send, I receive this error message. Error: Mail could not be sent using the account "Hotmail." Explanation: HTTP error. The request cannot be fulfilled Error: 1412 The strange thing is that I can successfully send this same message with attachment to a single address. Is the problem with the Group?  - Entourage 2004 cannot migrate Entourage X identity I have just bought and installed Office (Entourage) 2004 on my new G4. I am currently running Entourage X on my old iMac (2 login accounts). I want to migrate the iMac accounts to my new G4. I have the two machine connected via e LAN ethernet network and can mount the iMac thereby I have used the Wizard and it asks me to browse to User/Documents/Micrsoft etc etc. It then cannot find the appropriate Entourage identity. When I then dig down to the Office X identities file the Database that contains the ID is greyed out and cannot be accessed from the Wizard. Any ideas?  - Navigating in Formatting Palette with Tab key Doesn't seem to work! I'm using Word v.X (with latest updates) on a 17" iMac with OS 10.3.5. In the Formatting Palette, under Document, then Margins, try navigating from the margin settings on the page (left, right, top, bottom) using the Tab key. This works in Word for Windows, any version.  - Entourage stuck on one message I am having problems with an email that is in my inbox. It seems to have downloaded just fine but Entourage gives me the spinning beachball when it tries to show it in the Inbox. I have thrown away the Prefs. I have reinstalled Entourage several times, and when that did not work I reinstalled Office:mac vX again - all with no luck. I cannot wipe out the existing Inbox files.  - Remote desktop client Hello, If there are users of the remote desktop clients for Mac and linux clients, the following problem has come to our attention. For users of these clients the time is set to GMT when logging into the remote desktop. The sysadmin has set it to Central Daylight time but for Mac and Linux clients continue to see the GMT when logging in. This affects calendar invitations etc. The only kludge solution is for the user to log in, change the time to CDT for example, then opening up outlook doing the calendaring and invitation. The important point is the order where change the time first and then open outlook for the correct time to be propagated when invites are sent out. Has anybody else seen this problem or is aware of any fixes? The version in question is 1.0.2 and I don't see any updates in the web-site.  - Entourage 2004 backup Is it possible to back up all the data in Entourage 2004 except emails ? I work off an IMAP store so this would reduce the size of my backup file considerably. If I had to reinstate the backup at any stage, would the relevant emails in the IMAP store still keep their links to projects, contacts etc ?  - Entourage 2004 sorts in reverse My folders are set to sort with most recent on the top. However, while Ent.2004 does display "Today" at the top, followed by "Yesterday", etc (after clicking on the folder).... within each "day category", the messages are sorted with the *oldest* at the top! This has created confusion for me when looking for all messages coming after a particular one. Anyone else seen this problem? Thanks, Scott Henning P.S.  - Entourage autocomplete not working with Active Directory central address book I have a user who is running the current version of Entourage that connects to an exchange server. I can get her connected to the central address book by setting up directory services. If you go to "Tools->Directory Services" and do a search, it properly finds people in our central address book of Active Directory. But if she creates a new email and types in the first few letters of someone's name, the autocomplete feature only shows possible matches in her personal address book.  - Entourage messages fragmented... mess up Exchange Entourage 2004 and Exchange 2000 I have an odd problem. If one of my Mac users sends and email to a PC user (using Outlook 98, 2000, XP, or 2003), the email text in the body is gone and replaced with fragments of the mime header. In most cases those emails cannot be opened by the Outlook client. The Outlook Web Access client can open them (the body text remains fragments of mime header). However, if they email another Entourage user, the emails are fine. The problem is that with these bad emails (and even after completely removing them) my Information Store is now considered a 'corrupt file' by Backup Exec (v9.1). I paid the $245 to talk to MS about this... Money NOT well spent. They want me to keep sending emails to Outlook clients and then forwarding them the results. I'm not too excited about further damaging the Information Store so that I can take the server down to run esutil on it (thereby losing data as well) again. Anyone run into this or have a solution? From the looks of this forum, Entourage seems to be a lousy product. Other than running Outlook in classic mode on OS X, are there any other Exchange clients for the Mac I may be unaware of?  - Printing problems in Entourage I am having problems printing e-mail messages from Entourage - everything prints very small - almost impossible to read. I have reinstalled the printer drivers, deleted printer and entourage preferences, reinstalled entourage - all with no luck. This has happened to me previously on a PB G3, used in different locations with separate printer drivers for each location and using OS X 10.2 and Entourage v.X - one printer would print small but the others were fine. Not long after this problem appeared on the G3, I upgraded to a G4 powerbook, running OS X 10.3 (now 10.3.5) and Entourage 2004. For some reason the problem recently re-appeared and I have no idea why. I have scanned newsgroups, knowledge bases and FAQ sites with no result - I assume this is not a common problem.  - Junk Mail Training How can you train the Ent 2004 Junk Mail Filer to recognize junk mail. I have mine set to HIGH but most junk mail still winds up in my Inbox. I move them to the Junk E-mail then to the Deleted Items. I tried clearing the cache but that did not really help. Any suggestions on training the JMF will be appreciated.  - Append reply at end of message I'm running Entourage X 10.1.4 When replying to a message, the cursor is placed at the end of the message, not the start. Every time I reply to a message I have to move the cursor to the top before adding new text. I can't find any options for changing the default cursor position. This problem has only recently started.  - Entourage Sync deletes new Palm Calendar appointments If I enter a new appointment in the Palm calendar then hotsync to Entourage, the appointment is correctly added to the Entourage calendar but deleted from the Palm calendar. The other way works fine; appointments created in Entourage are synced to the Palm. I didn't have this problem until I moved to the Treo 600. It occurs both with Entourage 2004 and Entourage X. I use the following work-around: Add an appointment to the Treo calendar. Hotsync. Modify the appointment in Entourage in some trivial way (like add a space to it), then hotsync again. The "modified" appointment is now in both calendars. I have the latest firmware for the Treo, and the latest conduit from the 2004 CD. The calendar is palmOne Calendar v. 5.2H.  - Format challenges Entourage X HTML format and Windows Here's one for you: I recently changed my default message format for Entourage X to HTML so I could more easily use hyperlinks and font formatting tools. However, I have noticed when somebody with a Windows machine responds to me with my original text displayed in their message, some strange formatting changes occur. Specifically, apostrophes turn into commas; open parentheses turn into ? ; close parentheses turn into ? , etc.. How odd is this? It makes me look like a buffoon who doesn't know the difference between a comma and an apostrophe. Any ideas why this would occur, and is there a way to stop this?  - Time zones Is there a way for the event I set to show up at the time I put it in?? Say I put in an appt in Australia for 5pm and then an appt for New York a few days after for 5 pm. I would like my calendar to ALWAYS show the appts at 5pm and not try to convert the times. I know where I am and will be in the world and don't need the machines help.  - How to make a template project? I have Office 2004. I created a "template project" (listed all of the tasks that I typically need for every project.) Then I created a new project (#1) and imported the tasks from my template project. I inserted the due dates and notes for each task that was needed for that particular project. But... AAARGH!! All of the tasks in my template project then had the same due dates as (#1) -- so when I wanted to insert the information for a new project (#2) I then changed the dates for #1 and for the template. Yikes. Obviously this is not the way to do it! Is there any way to make a template project so that I do not have to re-enter (and remember) what all of the tasks are for every single project I have?  - Sort by thread? I recently set up some NGs on Entourage. When I first look at the NG, the first column contains a little gray triangle on some messages. When I click this, it sorts the messages by thread. This column does not have a heading, and it does not appear as a column formatting choice.  - Entourage 2004 and SMTP over SSL? Greetings. Ever since I upgraded from Entourage X to 2004, I've been unable to send = mail through my university's authenticated, SSL-using SMTP server.=20 Entourage just waits and waits, and finally gives up with the error "An=20 operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, = or=20 there may be too much net traffic." I've verified all my server settings = and=20 even recreated the entire account. It used to work with 2004, it works = with=20 my housemate's Apple Mail client, and it works with 2004 from my office = on=20 campus (where I can use a non-authenticated, non-SSL SMTP server) -- all = quite quickly, with no long delay. Entourage 2004 also sends just fine=20 through my other email account, which uses authenticated SMTP *without*=20 SSL.  - E-mail message flies to dock This has now happened to two of my colleagues, one of whom stopped using Entourage for this reason. They would view their message headings without the Preview pane. Occasionally when they click on a message to view it, it opens but then immediately disappears, leaving an icon for the message file in the dock. I don't necessarily know the year someone was born, nor is it any of my business. How do I format the birthday so that I do not have to have a year included.  - "There is no such disk" error on launch. OK, this makes the third time I have tried to post this, but this time=20 from I.E. Apparently something about the MSFT support site doesn't=20 like to play well with Safari. Great. Anyway... I just got Office 2004 and installed it, and when I try to launch=20 Entourage I get the following error dialog: "An error occurred. There is no such disk." Say what? It's almost as if I were trying to launch an alias to a = volume=20 that doesn't exist, but this happens from launching the main=20 application executables too. What gives? I do have a very old copy of Office on this machine... I think Office=20 2001? I can't even remember. I have uninstalled & reinstalled and have = tried both the install wizard and the drag copy install, same results. =20 Entourage is the component of Office I use the most, so this is a really = big deal for me. a PowerBook - other than copying the user data folder each time.

If you have set up Entourage as a POP client you can enable the option
"leave a copy of each message on the server" (Tools---Accounts---Edit
account---Options).
This way both the Machines will have the copy of mails.
